Annalise looked out the window at Vivian playing with the Cullen's in the backyard of the house. Ever since she told Garrett she would even consider marrying him, she would awake from a perfect slumber no thanks to the memories of him abandoning her and her children. Waking up in a cold sweat was possible anymore for Annalise but she knew that if it were, she would be doing it a lot more often. She could sense that though a part of her would always love Garrett maybe marrying him was not the best idea. Turning and walking out to the living room she saw Carlisle looking at a book with as much focus as a scientist studying a specimen that might cure cancer.

"What's so interesting?" She asked as she reached the bottom step.

"Reading up more on immortals, though you aren't one anymore, Vivian is, and I would like to learn more about what she can do." He replied as he shut the book, he could sense there was something off about her. "Something bothering you Annalise?"

"Memories, they always seem to have the worst timing, when you found me, I had none and now I can't seem to get rid of them." She sighed as she crossed her arms.

"Your memories maybe trying to tell you something, what are they about?" Carlisle asked concerned as he walked up to her.

"Garrett abandoning me, multiple times I might add. I'm just not sure if this is a good idea, Garrett and I have a past but it's not a pleasant one." she replied as she looked up to Carlisle.

Nodding he knew that it was not an easy decision for her to make. Garrett had disappointed her more than once. He wanted to make her feel better, to feel wanted and needed but he would never force anything upon her, not even if his heart was yelling at him to.

"You have a hard decision, I won't deny that, but you have put your heart aside for so long, why not listen to it?" Carlisle said as he went right to Annalise, he gently reached out and touched her cheek.

Annalise watched him cautiously but looking into his eyes she just felt some comfortable, not lost, in fact for the first time in a long time, she felt that where she was standing at that very moment was where she belonged. Leaning in, she wasted no time putting her lips right against his. He wrapped his arms around her and held her in that moment. They didn't know how long they'd been kissing but a person clearing their voice made them pull apart and look over, there stood Alice.

"Took you two long enough, what was lost is now found." Alice smiled as she walked out of the room.

"Annalise, I-"Carlisle spoke up but she quickly covered his mouth with her finger and smiled.

"You're the best friend that I've found, you made a wish and hoped it would come true, is it too much to say maybe I'm that wish?" she asked looking up at him.

"I would have to say no, it's not too much. I don't need eyes to see the love you bring to me no matter where we go, you've become a part of this family, you're everywhere. I made a wish and you came true but Garrett will try to kill me." Carlisle said as the door opened and there stood Garrett.

"What's going on here? Carlisle?" Garrett questioned as he shut the door and walked inside.

"Garrett, it wasn't him. I can't marry you, our memories, our past haunts me and I can't bare to lose you again." Annalise said as Garrett just shook his head.

"So, you just give up? We have a daughter what will you tell her?" Garrett said as he approached Annalise.

"No, Garrett you and I aren't meant to be, that doesn't change the fact that Vivian is your daughter, this is something that I have been thinking about for a long time." Annalise said as she turned to look out the window at their daughter.

"I saved your life! I proposed to you! What more do you want?" Garrett growled at Annalise.

"Love, there was a time when we had that, but our love is an old love, it is gone and I just wish you would go find your true mate, it is not me." Annalise said looking back to Garrett. "I am forever grateful to you for saving my life but in all truth Garrett our love is no longer what it was."

"I love you!" Garrett yelled.

"You did once, as they said back in our day, our contract is an old one, it has withered away. I wish you love, but the time has come for our love to say goodbye." Annalise said standing strong. "There was a time I knew you are I could face the world, and we'd never come undone, but you left! We came so close and yes you cared for me, but I can see the distance in your eyes, we aren't meant to be! Our love is gone!"

Annalise walked away as Garrett turned to Carlisle.

"What did you tell her? What have you done to her?" Garrett said about to attack him.

Annalise came and stood before Carlisle.

"Adventure calls with unknown voice, they pulled you away, you weren't careful and now you regret the choice you made that day. The love is gone, I wish you well, but you must leave me now alone."

Carlisle saw the anger in Garrett's eyes. It was pure hatred and he knew that Garrett wanted him to be afraid, but it did not work. Instead Carlisle moved to stand beside Annalise and held her hand, presenting a united front. Garrett groaned as he turned and left the room. Carlisle and Annalise watched as Garrett took off into the woods. His safe haven to find whatever he was looking for, usually. Vivian walked inside and looked confused at her mother.

"He left again?" Vivian questioned her mother.

"Your father has a lot to deal with, he will need time an-" Carlisle started but Vivian stopped him.

"I know Mr. Cullen, my father is well known for taking things too hard and running away from problems, however that doesn't mean it's a valid excuse. Sometimes I think mother is better off without him." Vivian spoke as her true immortal age and then shrugged leaving the room.

"She was showing her true age to you, she understands Garrett more than anyone, she's read him like a book." Annalise said as she looked to Carlisle.

"Wise beyond her years or more." He replied as the others came inside.

"Is he ditching the wedding?" Emmett asked with annoyance in his voice.

"There isn't going to be a wedding, I told Garrett I couldn't be let down anymore, that was how he took it." Annalise answered the family's question.

"Figures he would, you cant abandon someone so many times and expect them to be by your side forever." Bella said and everyone looked at her. "What? Annalise deserves better."

"I couldn't agree more, everyone go and feed, it's getting late and we all still have things to do in the morning." Carlisle said as Annalise froze and looked to him. "What is it?"

"I've only gone hunting with Garrett, I don't think I quite have it down yet." She said a bit disappointed in herself, usually she caught on quickly.

"I'll stay with the kids, you guys teach her." Alice smiled as she went to play with the children.

Carlisle offered Annalise his hand, she looked down at it for a moment before she placed her hand in his. The family went to the back porch and looked out to the forest, no immortals waiting to kill her or Vivian, that didn't mean others wouldn't notice them but for now she didn't worry, instead she smiled as she took off into the woods with the Cullen family.
