I smile down at tara and I hear our family behind her start to whistle and clap and tara says "I love you so much dahlia I have loved you ever since I've laid eyes on you. I never wanna be apart from you ever my best friend my partner and I feel like I can be myself around you. When we got separated from heath on our run you didn't think twice about jumping over that bridge. I could have been dead but that still didn't stop you from making sure you got to me you literally jumped off a bridge for me.

I always said if I found a girl who would do anything for me as I would for her I would marry her and love her until I die so Dahlia Rose Dixon will you do me the honor and make me the happiest woman in the world and marry me?". I feel tears start to roll down my cheeks and I grab the box and stand her up and wrap my arms around her neck and nodd against her neck and I whisper "yes". She giggles and I close the box and she asks "do you love the ring?". I giggle and I whisper "I love you" I smile at everyone and I exclaim, "I said yes don't worry" rick dies laughing and tara picks me up and I wrap my arms around her neck. I slide the ring onto my hand and couldn't fight the tears or the smile on my face and when I finally get a good look at the ring and I say "holy shit it's amazing".

Tara dies laughing and rick starts to laugh at my reaction and I ask her "how did you know I wanted a blue diamond engagement ring? I never told you". She sends me a smile and she says softly "your dad he told me blue was your favorite color". I smile at him beside rick and carl and I say "I'll be right back" I walk over to daryl and I hug his neck he returns my hug and I ask him while hugging him "will you give me away daddy?". He takes a deep breath and he says "I will" I find myself smiling against his shoulder and his arms tighten around me.

I feel like that moment right there mended whatever broken fences we had left.

When the day of the wedding had arrived I was standing in mine and tara's bedroom while she was getting ready at rick's house. I find myself smiling in the mirror when my eyes fell onto the black floral dress with spaghetti straps that crossed over my back. I even seen hints of red on the dress and from my knees down the dress was see-through. I had borrowed the dress from 'Rosita' and I take a deep breath and I see Chrissy walks inside the room and she says "oh dahlia you look beautiful".

Her red dress I had made it and it fit her like a glove I was surprised it did I thought it would be a bit baggy on her but it wasn't. The red dress complimented her bright blonde hair and it did wonders for her figure once it was time to go I walk downstairs and see dad standing in the kitchen in a black button-up shirt. I smile at him and when he sees me his face lights up rosita hands me a bouquet of Cherokee roses and my hair was curly and he says "just one more thing missing". I send him a confused expression and he brings out a Cherokee rose hair clip and pins back a curly strand of my brown hair.

I smile at him and he says "there we go" he smiles down at me and I ask "where's yer vest?". He smiles at me and he says "it's at rick's want me to go get it?" I nodd eagerly and I hide behind the door and he goes and grabs the vest and comes back with it on. I smile at him and he asks "ready to go?" I nodd and we stay hidden behind one of the houses and I was so nervous that I was afraid I would trip and I say softly "just don't let me fall, dad". He bumps my arm I look at him and he says while looking at me "never it's alright you'll see yer girl soon".

I take a deep breath and once Jensen and Chrissy start to walk down the aisle her arm wrapped around his Chrissy and Jensen had started getting closer since the fall of negan. She is convinced herself that she likes him but he doesn't like her which is complete and utter bullshit but it's gonna take him doing something for her to realize it. When we get in front of the chairs that were set up in the middle of Alexandria. I finally look up and see tara waiting for me at the end of the aisle with Father Gabriel right in front of her.

She sends me a small smile and her dress was the same as mine but mine had red in it but hers was just a floral dress it didn't have any red hints at all. She looks absolutely breathtaking and once I made it to the end she holds her hand out to me and dad doesn't let go of my arm. I turn to him and I say softly "daddy let go" he sends me a heartbreaking smile and he whispers "sorry baby doll". He kisses me on the forehead and he lets my hand go and he backs away from us and he sits beside rick and he rubs his shoulder.

Michonne does the same thing and reaches over rick and pats his leg and he grabs michonne's hand and I hand the bouquet to Chrissy. I turn back around and she grabs both of my hands and father Gabriel says "we are gathered here today to witness the love between Tara Diane Chambler and Dahlia Rose Dixon". She sends me a soft smile and he continues "love is patient love is kind love doesn't know gender or color love is love at the end of the day and I have had the joy of knowing these two people for a very long time and dahlia is the bravest girl I have ever met I saw her courage the first time I met her and tara is the most kindhearted person I know I saw her kindness the first time I met her and tara would you like to say your vows first?".

She sends him a smile and turns to me and she says "Dahlia when I started thinking about what I wanted to say to you on this day I kept drawing a blank and then I realized no matter when I am stuck in the dark your my flashlight you get me through the night I got all I need when I got you and I look around me and see a beautiful life you kickstart my heart whenever I see you every day and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you". I feel tears roll down my cheeks and I say "how can I beat that?" she starts to laugh and the crowd does too and I see everyone smiling from ear to ear and some crying faces. I see pop sitting beside Aaron and he hands him a tissue while Gracie sits on his lap.

I take a deep breath and I say "tara no words can describe how much I love you but I think I can try you raise me up so I can stand on mountains you raise me up to walk on stormy seas I am strong when I am on your shoulders you raise me up to more than I can be loving you is as easy as breathing and you say I am brave but I am truly not I feel like I can do anything if I have you and as long as I got you by my side and giving me my backbone and you are my reason for breathing and I would climb every mountain And swim every ocean just to be with you".

She had tears rolling down her cheeks and she whispers "you beat mine" I start to laugh and Father Gabriel says "tara place this ring on dahlia's finger and say with this ring I thee wed". She slides the wedding band on my finger and he hands me the other one and he says "repeat the same thing dolly". I smile at him and I say "with this ring I thee wed" I slide the ring onto her finger and father Gabriel asks "do you tara take dahlia to be your lawful wedded wife?". She giggles and she turns to me "I Do" I bite my lower lip and couldn't help but smile at her I was ready to become her wife already and he asks me the same question "I Do".

Gabriel smiles at us and he chuckles "I now pronounce you life partners tara you may now kiss the bride". Tara sends me a smile and I giggle and she grabs my jaw and pulls me in for the kiss our lips clash together and everyone starts to clap and whistle for us. I giggle and we pull away and Gabriel says "I would like to proudly announce Dahlia and Tara Dixon". I turn to tara in surprise and I say "I thought I was taking your name?" she smirks at me and she says "I thought about that but you gotta keep the legacy name and besides I kinda wanted to become a Dixon anyway".

I snicker as we start to walk towards the tables where we would eat and then tara was gonna take me somewhere which I had no idea where she was taking me. Once we got through eating and we got our bags inside the charger which Jensen said we could use until we got back. I couldn't help but smile that day today was one of the good days and I was happy that my dad had found me at the hilltop six years ago. When the car was packed up tara says "come on babe lets go" she grabs my hand and everyone was standing at the entrance of the gate and I say "we will see you in a few days we won't stay gone long".

Tara snorts and she bites my shoulder and I say to Judith while hanging out of the window "you be good for big brother ok?". She giggles and enid picks her up and I turn to Chrissy and I say "your next little lady" she shakes her head and she says "I gotta find the right guy first dahlia". I giggle and tara says "or maybe you already found him you just don't wanna admit it". I sit down and daryl says "yall be careful" we drive off and I took one last look in the back window and tara grabs my hand and interlocks our fingers and she says "you ready doll?".

I smile when I see everyone waving and I take a deep breath and I turn around and I say to her "yeah I'm ready".

I smile in the doorway of the house tara and I had found and in the middle of the woods and had secured ourselves. We had found a house not far from Alexandria and I was shocked there weren't that many walkers around here. I slide her shirt over my head and a pair of underwear and shorts the same thing I did all those years ago when we were at oceanside. I make my way outside and onto the front porch and I just stare up at the stars above and think about all the people we had lost and wonder if they see the same sky as we do.

I hadn't been outside for long when tara walked outside fully clothed and sits beside me and she doesn't say anything she just sat beside me while I stared up at the stars. Until finally I ask her "do you think our passed family members can see us?" she wraps her arm around me and I lean back into her shoulder. Her hand glides across my thigh and she says "as long as we're here yes they can we move on because they don't get too". I find myself smiling and I say "you know what's funny rae?" she leans forward and looks at me and I turn to look at her and I say "the drinks bring back all the memories and the memories bring back you".

She starts to think about what I said and she nodded "yep that's an exactly right doll". I lean my head against her shoulder and her arms tighten around me and in that moment right then and there it didn't matter whatever daryl was planning or what maggie had up her sleeve. At the end of the day as long as I had her by my side and my family back at Alexandria. There was nothing that could stop me from protecting them with everything I had in me.

"So what are we gonna do dolly?".

"We're gonna protect rick with everything we have and we're gonna build Alexandria up so Judith can have a place to grow up and our future children to grow up in maggie has another thing coming if she thinks she's gonna destroy what rick has built".
