Chapter 25: Beach!

Everyone

3rd Person POV

They were all told to get dressed when they got to the beach, much easier for the people with opposite gender roommates. A way to prevent someone accidentally peeping in on them while changing.

Once they arrived there, boys and girls were separated into different changing rooms. The girls only had one problem in mind, worried that the girls will stare at them with their perverted minds. On the other hand, the guys were afraid that if they even take one look at the girls, they would scream and call them perverts.

Putting that in the back of their minds, they decided that it was time to actually have a bit of fun. Besides, they would come to the beach a couple times during their week on the island. The girls walked to the ocean, as quick as they can to hide their bodies by the waves, but not Mikasa. She stayed behind, sitting under the shade, waiting to talk to Eren.

Eren's POV

Having the hot sand burning my bare feet felt... good. But seeing Mikasa sitting under the shade...

"Oi... Mikasa." I say, walking over to her, ignoring everyone else as they ran into the water. Once I approached her, she stood up, taking Eren's hand. "W-What are you-"

"Follow me." She says, taking us away from the beach.

Something about this path... felt so familiar... like I walked this way with Mikasa... no, that's impossible... this is our first time here at the beach. But as I walked up to a small cliff, I remember sitting down here, and... kissing Mikasa?!

We sit down, my breath was staggering a bit after this weird dream that felt so real. My hands were still inside of Mikasa's, giving me this weird feeling inside my bones. My stomach felt so weird... fluttering weirdly. If the heat from the sun isn't the cause of my cheeks being warm... then what was it?

"M-Mikasa... what-"

"Eren, doesn't it... feel weird? You know... sitting in this spot? Like a dream?"

Chuckling softly, that was how I was feeling. "Yeah..."

"I remember this from my dream last night when I said that we were going to the beach. Do you... remember?"

"M-Maybe... Mikasa, what-"

"I-I don't care if you don't want to accept what I'm gonna say or not... but, hear me out, okay?"

Shaking my head, I did what everyone else would've done. "Last night... you wanted to listen to my nightmares that I have... so, to repay you for listening, I'll listen to whatever you have to say."

Mikasa smiles, her cheeks becoming blushed with pink. "E-Eren... when I first met you... at the airport... well, I wanted to say that... I liked you."

"Huh? What do you mean by, 'like' Mikasa?"

"What I meant is that... well... I... I... like you... m-more than a friend... you know?"

This weird feeling kept pushing me to say these words that I decided to bury under. It felt more like a confession more than a feeling... and the reason why I wanted to keep it hidden is because... well, I didn't want to be her boyfriend...

"I-I know what you mean, Mikasa... I mean, I kinda felt the same way... before..."

"Y-You do...?"

"I-I guess so... maybe, I just need more time- or maybe I should get this out of the way before things become a problem, right?"

It was slight, but I saw it with my eyes. Mikasa scooted over, leaning her head on my shoulder... "You're right... Eren..."

"I-I guess... a small one would hurt, right?"

She nods, "A small peck... that's all."

"Okay..." I leaned close to her, not even controlling my actions anymore. Like someone else took over my whole body... making it feel that I've done this way too many times.

Kissing her on her lips, it should've been just a second, but I stayed for a minute or two. A cool breeze blew cool air between us... which made us shudder as I was bare, wearing only my swim trunks. Mikasa had a bikini on, so of course it made me blush seeing her like that. She hardly wore swimsuits that often... but she shuddered in the cold as well.

Pulling back, I take her hand, "Let's go into the water now... otherwise... people are gonna make fun of us."

"Eh... we'll be fine, Eren."

Marco's POV

Watching Eren and Mikasa come down from that cliff after their kiss was kinda cute. Then, I looked at Jean, who was too busy hiding beneath the waves to cool a bit down.

Then, I saw two of the seniors... I think their names were Hanji and Levi... Hanji was running in the water, giggling and laughing. "You can't catch me, shorty!"

Levi grumbles, "Shut up, four-eyes!"

"Uh Jean..." I start to say as he almost dozes off. "I would stand up if I were you..."

"Tch! Marco, why would I-"

Too late. Levi's hand hits the water, splashing Hanji on her back. She squeals loudly, but as she retaliates, striking the water with her fist. The water missed Levi, but ultimately fell onto Jean. His hair became damp and he accidentally swallowed a bit of salt water.

Angered, he stands up, "Oi! Someone was here! Stop drowning people!"

Chuckling softly, Jean does look kinda cute when he's angry like that. "Come on, Jean... they didn't mean it."

"I swallowed salt water-"

"You'll be fine..." I said, wrapping my arms around him, holding him close. "With me, all your problems will be solved. So don't worry about the salt water..."

He grunts, "Fine..."

A familiar squeal started to pop our eardrums. I turned to see the same girl, Hanji, looking at us. The one thing that annoyed me was the words she shouted as she squealed. "I ship it! I ship it!"

"Hanji! Shut up!" Levi shouted at her, splashing her with water.

Chuckling, it was cute to know that people liked these kind of relationships... and it was cute to know that someone knew anime and was a crazy weeb like her. "Come on, Jean, let's head into the sun and just... get out of the chaos, you know?"

He nods, "Fine."

We then sit on some mats, to keep our bums from burning on the hot sand. My hand inches towards Jean's... but... I'm afraid for that crazy girl to come running over here and start shouting those embarrassing words again.

But who cares? I just didn't want my secret about loving him to be out... not yet. Inside me... I just had this weird feeling growing inside me... that I should just kiss him... no, I should wait.

3rd Person POV

Erwin sits there, under the shade of a palm tree, watching as Hanji laughs, chasing Levi. Should I even talk to her? No... I'll ruin her day... he thinks to himself. She was having so much fun... with her new boyfriend... now, he'll never talk to her.

Reiner and Bertholdt were the ones who took a walk in the water... the thought of Bertholdt being next to him was painful for Reiner to bear... knowing that his lover was right there... his hand near his... to grab his hand and to hold it tight to him would do him some good. But still, Bertholdt was afraid of finding out who he truly loves, so he didn't make any efforts to hold his hand.

So they walked... walked in silence, when they should've been confessing their love... away from the party.

Armin and Annie started to search for some pretty seashells to take home. With one glance, Armin calls out to his best friend. "Eren! Mikasa!"

Once they heard their names, they listened and obeyed. "So... you called?" Eren asks as he tilts his head, like a cat, to understand what he was doing.

The two of them had their heads down, shifting the sand with their feet. "Eren... wanna help us find some seashells to take home?"

A smirk appears on his face. "A race?!"

Armin does the same, "It's on."

Soon, Hanji grew tired of running in the water... since she knew that the only one who can trump her was Levi himself. When she collapses onto the sand, panting- exhausted... she sees Levi's young abs and he wasn't out of breath.

"Do you wanna build a snowman?" She sings as she grabs a shovel.

Levi rolls his eyes, "One, no. Two, there's no snow-"

"Substitute the snow for sand. I know that it's not the same material, but we can improvise, right?"

"I am not making a snowman, a castle would be better." He smirks as he starts to help.

Marco catches a glimpse of the two of the seniors, pulling Jean up from the ground. "Come on, I'll make a castle for you..."

He rolls his eyes, finally giving in. "Okay Marco... just a castle."

Levi looks up to see the freshmen, protecting his lover. "What do you guys want?" He growls at them, standing in front of Hanji.

"We wanna make a castle as well. Mind if we share?"

He grumbles, "Don't mess with ours, that's the only rule okay? Don't mess with our castle, we'll share. Got it?"

"Understood."

Jean and Marco took a pail, started to dig near the shore. They decided that they would have a moat using the ocean. So, they started to dig a circle, with an entrance wide open that faced the ocean. Using the sand around them, they filled the pails, gently padding them down to create the shape.

When they were molded, Jean picked it up, flipping it upside down and hitting the bucket, to get the sand out and molded perfectly. After a few tries, Jean finally picked it up, slowly, revealing the perfect castle.

"Amazing..." Marco says, searching for small shells and sticks. "Now... for the final touches..." He says as he decorates it.

Taking a step back, they realized that the couple behind them hasn't started on their castle. Too busy arguing about where to put it. Jean sighed, "Well... we need to give it a name."

"Hm... what about... Castle... Rose! Eh?"

Jean chuckles, "Maybe... Fort Marco. After all, you did all of this-"

"Um... Jackie? I don't want the castle to be named after me if we both did it together..." Marco's hand accidentally touches Jean... both blushing in embarrassment. "U-Um..."

"I ship it!" Hanji's voice shocked them.

When they turned around, they already see Levi tackling Hanji down and pinning her arms to the sand. "Shut up! You're being rude, Hanji!"

"Shorty! Let me go!"

Jean takes Marco's hand, leading him towards the picnic tables. They sat there, exhausted and embarrassed. "Ugh, can we ever take a break?!" Jean's voice started to raise, but their hands remained, holding each other.

"J-Jean..."

"No, Marco. I'm tired of her... and she's yelling stuff that just... I dunno, embarrasses me..."

Marco scoots closer to Jean, ignoring the sand that stuck to themselves. "What about it that embarrasses you, Jean?"

"Well... I-I dunno... but I just hate it..."

Marco sighs, maybe... was it his chance to actually confess his love? "Jean... if you're a great leader, you should ignore things like this..."

He nods, "You're right... I should..."

"And... well, maybe that's what I like about you, Jean..." His eyes shifted away from him, his feet tapping the soft sand.

Jean, utterless and blank-minded. Was he saying the exact words that he wanted to say to him as well? Who knows? Maybe they had the same feelings towards each other... and maybe... that's what makes them connected. "Marco..."

"Ah, it's probably nothing... I'm just saying-"

"I like you too..." Jean finally says, his breath started to stagger and his heartbeats quickens. Was this... his confession? He keeps questioning himself, without giving time to answer all of them.

Marco gives a smile, his freckles shining brightly in the sunlight. "Jean... do you... mean it?"

He nods, "Of course... maybe... she's right... that crazy four-eyes... maybe, we do belong to each other..."

"You do know what ships are, right?"

"They're boats-"

"No... not like that. I mean, the way that Hanji was using it as she shouted-"

"Don't bring that back up, Marco. No, I don't know. What did she mean by ships?"

Marco chuckles, "Well... in certain shows, they have something called ships. More like... a couple that people wants to get together in a relationship."

Jean's face grew red with embarrassment, why didn't he know about that? "Oh... um..."

"Don't worry, Jean. I think we should be together, huh?"

He smiles, "Of course... we should?"

Marco smirks, thinking of a plan inside his adorable head. "We should... you know, seal our relationship with a kiss, on the lips."

He shudders away from him, "K-Kiss?!"

"It's just a harmless kiss, Jean." Marco says, slowly leaning forward. "Don't worry... this would be my first kiss as well..."

"R-Right... Marco, how are you this calm about kissing?!"

"Maybe... it's because I dreamed about kissing you for a very long time."

Then finally, Jean gave in to the pressure... leaning forward as Marco did the same. He was resistant to the idea, but he didn't care. His heart took over. They finally kissed, lingering there for a couple minutes. No one was near, no Hanji to shout and embarrass them as she was busy with Levi.

*   *   *

Their reincarnation selves were all standing in the ocean waves... the couples holding there hands as the waves passed through them. Eren and Mikasa stood next to Armin and Annie, overlooking themselves as they did their different duties.

Levi and Hanji were kissing, happy that they finally got together yesterday. Erwin was left there, sulking away as he had no loved ones to support him as he stood alone. Reiner and Bertholdt were nowhere to be seen, as they walked with their reincarnation selves, desperate to get away from the Survey Corps.

Sasha and Connie were too busy, laughing together... while Jean and Marco were holding each other, both young in the 16-year old selves.

They walked around, holding hands. Jean was free from his wife from back then... but he truly didn't like how he wasn't with Marco, as he died long ago when Trost fell.

"Jean... we look cute together, don't we?" Marco says, chuckling softly as he watches himself and Jean kissing, their grip tightening as they wanted to be together.

Jean chuckles, sadden by seeing Marco walking around. "How many times did I ignore you, Marco?"

"Hm? What do you mean? You never ignored me-"

"I did. You were there, and I ignored you."

Marco kisses Jean's cheek. "You couldn't see me, so it doesn't matter. I'm just glad we're right here, together."

"You're right... we're together."

Eren rushes over, "Oi! You guys gonna ignore the fun? Come on, help myself win the shell contest!"

Armin then shouts, "That's cheating! Leave them alone, Eren! No cheating!"

"Tch, brats..." Levi rolled his eyes, pulling Hanji close to him. "Stop messing with them-"

Hanji touches Levi's nose, "Yet you messed around with yourself-"

"F-For a good cause!" His cheeks became blushed as he knew he did something bad. "He was being stubborn about confessing his love. If he didn't, well, we would be stuck, not being able to hold each other again..."

"Heh... true..."

"Alright alright, enough flirting. They gotta eat now-"

Hanji stuck a tongue out, "Just because the almighty commander of the Survey Corps doesn't have a love to be with doesn't mean you can boss us around. Meanie."

"Hanji!"

"Step away from her, Eyebrows." Levi says, pushing Hanji out of his line of sight.

Eren rolls his eyes, "Captain, please-"

"Shut up, brat."

"Yes Captain."

Jean rolled his eyes as Marco chuckles. "Well... you must've been okay in the Survey Corps..."

"Talk about drama... it's just a day at the beach. I'm just glad that the only good thing that came out was that we're together..."

"Heh, true..."

Lisa comes from the picnic tables, "Lunch time, kids!" Everyone started to make their way out of the ocean.

Armin was victorious with his shell. Finding a shell that was spiky and pale brown with pink inside, he loved it. He hands it to his lover, "Here Annie... for you..."

She blushes... "A-Armin..." She takes it, kissing his cheek, "Thank you... I'll keep it forever and ever..."

Eren groans in defeat, since he could find a conch shell, but he gives it to Mikasa. "Here... you can have it..."

She smiles, "Thanks... Eren..."

Levi and Hanji were covered in sand by the time they stopped arguing. "Tch..." Levi grumbles under his breath as he struggles to brush the sand off his bare skin. With one look at Hanji, he strains himself from shouting at her about her hair. Though it was in a ponytail, it was covered in sand and mangled. "Hanji... your hair..."

She giggles, "I don't mind... but I do mind about my stomach being grumpy..."

The spirits stood on the side, smiling happily. Happy that they succeeded, making their way back home on accident... a day to remember that their reincarnations met their past lives... not knowing why. They struggled to get themselves to confess their love, as they would only be this power on this island. When away, all they could do is echo in their heads, begging them to feel feelings of the past, seeing memories as dreams, and small gestures.

A day of fun... bringing two couples to recognize their love... as one couple remains struggling. Their souls were not as powerful to gesture their love, as they didn't belong there... they despise staying there, and nor did they love each other.

Reiner fights his past urge to go over to Historia and to propose their love. Instead, he wanted to be with his childhood friend, Bertholdt. How their relationship unravels will depend on how they would act upon each other. Bertholdt didn't want to expose himself, so he pushes away from the one guy who was perfect for him...

Reiner and Bertholdt... an unexpected couple... would their true love unravel as a relationship? Or will it shatter into pieces, leaving a broken Reiner... and a Bertholdt who's torn between who he truly is and what he wants to be. Throughout their childhood days, Bertholdt loved the cold Annie, but seeing how melted she was with Armin, he had no one. No one but Reiner, who's still there.

Who is he to trust? His true passion that's been hidden under layers and layers of lies that he told himself? Or who he wants to be? Would he try and ruin Armin and Annie's true relationship, so he can get what his mind whats? He's torn... torn between his heart and mind... perhaps... Reiner could help sort that through.
