Chapter 12: Daydreaming

Ymir and Historia

Ymir's POV

8:49 am in Social Studies Class

What a waste. Why should we learn about our past if we need to focus on our future? And speaking of future... I gazed at my partner, Historia Reiss. With one gaze, I felt my lesbian feelings grow towards her... and I have no way of telling if she's like me or if she likes guys instead.

"Ah, Ymir. I haven't heard your voice since we first had class." Mr. Williams points to me, having everyone's focus on me. "Please, tell me-"

"No." I say, rolling my eyes.

"Ymir, plea-"

"I said no."

Historia elbows me in my arm, "Ymir! Answer his question!"

I looked down at her, seeing her crystal blue eyes shining at me. "Heh, why should I? Not like I care about history, I mean, why focus on the past if we have to look to the future?"

Mr. Williams nodded, "I should give you detention, Ymir. But, I'm giving you another chance. Tomorrow, give me that attitude, you will get detention."

Rolling my eyes, I just didn't care. Not my fault I was forced to enroll in this school... I didn't want to... but after Historia started to help me, off the streets and encouraging me to go here. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Historia's goddess nature, I would still be there.

But then, Historia then pinched me on the arm, and I retaliated with a small cry. "Ymir! Stop being so stubborn, please!" She begs me to... and I fell for her. Who wouldn't fall for a queen like her?

"Ugh, fine..." I say, rolling my eyes again.

We were walking through the forest, with nothing. More like a survival training to see how well we can survive there for a week. Krista was walking around, gazing over the scenery. I could tell she was nervous, her hand clutched on her chest, staring with fear.

But what calmed her was the forest's song. The birds started to sing, as if they knew their goddess' pain and fear. The sun came through the treetops, letting these lights dance on the dark, forest floor. The soft soil of the ground had my feet sank deep under. But what was beautiful was the smell. The smell of the trees and the plants was so... breathless. You could even taste the air... so delicious, making my stomach grumble. I hear the sound of running water, which made my throat dry.

We were only gone for a couple hours, and I haven't had the chance to take a drink. Tapping Krista lightly, I made sure that she was calm enough. "Oi, I think there's a river nearby."

She smiles, "Okay." Man, she was a goddess-

"Ymir!" What a daydream... it felt that I had to be near her... to protect her... to love her... I turned to Historia, where she was poking me constantly..

"Huh? What's wrong?"

"You're... daydreaming again. Or, sleeping with your eyes open, as you call it." She gives me this look at me, pouting and all. Sometimes, she acts like a drama queen. My type.

Smirking at her, I realized that I truly do have feelings for her. "Sure I am, Historia. Hey, maybe when we're done with school, you should marry me!"

Mr. Williams turns towards me, "Ymir? Off task, are we?"

Then, Historia covers for me, the lovely, beautiful goddess of all time protects me. Oh, I loved her... too bad she doesn't know my true feelings towards her. "A-Ah! Mr. Williams! Y-Ymir got confused about our task of writing our family history!"

"Then why did I hear the phrase, 'You should marry me.'" Everyone laughs as the teacher spoke my words. We all know that he's married, and him saying that to us, girls... huh, pretty funny like that.

"Y-Ymir was so grateful for my help, and she said that. I don't think she actually means that."

Glaring down at her, I know that it's class... but her tone was completely different than what her words actually meant. Like... she enjoyed the suggestion I had for her. But for the sake of Mr. Williams... he nods, "Alright. Ymir, get back to work."

I nodded, "Yes sir." After he turns his back, I leaned back to Historia, "Thanks for saving my butt back there."

She smiles, giving me that goddess-like aura that surrounded me, blessing me with her grace. The way she closed her eyes as she spoke... so beautiful. "You're welcome! I had to... I-I had to save you..."

"Eh? Had to?"

Historia looks at me, with tears forming. "Yeah. This this feeling, in me... that... I don't really know how to explain that feeling to you. Just saying that I have to... protect you. It feels that I never saved you before... so, it feels right for me to save you now."

I take her hand, looking deep into her crystal blue eyes. "Well... thank you." Leaning closer to her ear, I whispered softly. Only she would hear my words, unlike that stupid teacher who doesn't get me. "Please... marry me?"

She giggles in the most beautiful way, "Oh Ymir..."

Looking back at my worksheet, with a smirk on my face, I had my dreams... daydreams of Historia and I... but her name was Krista.

Closing my eyes for a second, I see her there... standing on the balcony, over-watching her kingdom. I could tell that she was a princess- no, a queen. The crown that laid on her golden hair proves her royalty... when I walked closer to her, I see her hands were folded so carefully.

Upon her petite face, I see a tear fall down her cheek. "Oh Ymir..." She says.

Frustrated, I tapped her on the shoulder. But it fazed through her. Historia didn't seem to mind... shivering by my touch, but other than that, it didn't bother her. "Oi! Historia!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, but nothing. "Hey! I'm talking to you!"

"Queen Historia." She turns as she was addressed by someone behind us.

A Military Police soldier! Turning towards Historia, I lost my composure. "You listened to him! And not me! Am I not you're friend?!"

"Yes?" She questions the soldier. "You called?"

"I have. It's about the Survey Corps, they're asking for your presence."

Historia nodded, "Yes." Then, she wipes that tear off her pale face. "Tell them that I'll be there in a few moments."

The soldier stood up, looking worried as he saw the queen wipe that weak thing away. "My Queen, is everything alright?"

"Yes." Then, more tears spilled from her eyes. "No..."

"My lady, please... tell me what's wrong."

She took a deep breath, looking back over the view. Towards the south... and I see that she missed someone... it's in her eyes. "There was this friend... well, I consider her more than a friend to me..." She walks closer to the balcony, her precious hands on the stone barricades. I watched those tears fall down. "Sometimes- no, all the time, I miss her..."

"What was her name?"

"I rather not tell, she's so precious to me... too bad... I couldn't save her..."

The soldier nodded, "I'll pass your message onto them." He salutes and then leaves the room in a hurry.

I hear Historia sigh, looking over the houses towards the walls. "Ymir... please... I can't do this alone... please... help me. You helped me so many times, and now, I need your help again. I promise soon, Ymir... I'll repay you for everything."

"Repay?" I say, moving my hand towards hers. "You don't need to do that... I... I love you."

She shivers as I touched her hand. "Brr..." Once more, she gazes over the land, admiring the beauty, still missing the one she loved. "Ymir, please come back..."

"Ymir!" Historia shakes me awake from my daydreams, again. Her crystal blue eyes were so beautiful... heh, I have to keep that Reiner guy away from her. I heard his name as he flirted with her.

"Huh?"

"Daydreaming again!"

Looking closer at her, she had her books in her arms and her bag over her shoulders. "Uh, what's going on, Historia?"

"You idiot!" My eyes lit up as she said that... for the weeks I had known her, she never cursed like that. "Class ended 2 minutes ago! I couldn't leave you here!"

Quickly, I packed all my things up. "Oh... thanks Historia."

She smiles, "Just hurry up, okay?"

"My savior..." My goddess...
