"I-i love you too B... Y-your gonna be fine B y-your gonna be fine..." Dallon let out a small sob, watching as Brendon's breathing calmed. He watched as Brendon smiled just slightest at him, and watched as he took his last breath. He watched his baby die.
That night, no one got any sleep. Everyone cried at least a little, except Dallon. Dallon stayed with Brendon, laying him down on the ground. He held his hand all night, not willing to let go.
The next morning everyone was making breakfast, watching Dallon hold Brendon.
"H-he's gonna turn soon..." Spencer looked from Dallon to the rest of the group. Other then Dallon, Spencer was most affected by this. Spencer's known Brendon the longest, he and Bren were best friends.
"I'll take care of it..." Josh sighed. Before he could walk off Tyler grabbed his arm.
"Be careful." Josh nodded and walked to his friend...s?
"Dall-" Before he could even finish the word, Dallon held a gun up to him.
"Don't you fucking dare." Dallon didn't look up, his voice cold. Josh nodded, walking back to the group. Dallon sat there with him for at least another hour. He sniffed, closing his eyes. It was silent, except for the birds. And in that silence, he heard breathing. He quickly opened his eyes and looked at Brendon. Brendon's lips were parted, the breathing no doubt coming from him.
Brendon's eyes slowly opened. They were clouded over, the previous white now a gross, greyish green color. The once beautiful chocolate brown, was now dark. It wasn't clear, not shiny, just dark and dull. Brendon's body twitched, his hands moving just the slightest.
"B-baby...?" Dallon watched as the love of his life slowly turned.
Brendon's shallow breathing soon turned into gurgles as he moved his hands up towards Dallon's face.
"I-i'm so sorry Brendon..." Brendon started to sit up, growling now.
"I-i love you so much... I'm sorry I didn't save you-" His voice cracked as he held Brendon down so he wouldn't hurt him. Everyone watched as the scene unfolded, taking out their weapons in case Dallon never did take action.
"Happy 28th birthday baby..." Dallon's voice was clearer, stronger. Brendon snarled as he opened his mouth, grabbing at Dallon. He slowly brought his gun to the side of Brendon's head, ready to pull the trigger. Brendon growled, reaching up at him weakly.
"D-dallon please just end it...!" Shouted Spencer, holding his gun to his chest shakily. He wasn't about to loose another friend. Dallon groaned and looked towards Spencer.
"If you'd be quiet it would've-" He stopped short, his eyes widening.
Brendon had reached both hands forward and just rested them on the others cheeks, not using his nails or even moving his hands anymore. He kept his hands there, his breathing still gurgling. Dallon slowly looked down at him, his eyes wide. Tears slowly filled his eyes, his breathing getting shaky. Why wasn't he hurting him? Did he know who he was?
"S-someone get rope." he said softly. Spencer looked at him, his breathing caught in his throat.
"Wh-what?" He asked softly, his voice cracking.
"G-get some god damn rope!" He yelled at the group, his eyes glued on Brendon. Brendon's head moved to the side, watching as Spencer rushed to the camper, jumping up the steps and into the vehicle. He let out gurgling noises, but continued to keep his hands resting on the tallers cheeks. Spencer was quick to come back with a lot of rope, to which Dallon instantly grabbed.
He slowly sat up and watched Brendon for a moment. The now undead singer growled and slowly forced himself up. He stumbled forward and stood there for a moment, his arms hanging limply by his sides. He was slumped forward, his shoulders hanging low. His dead, cold gaze was fixed on Dallon, and he slowly started to limp over. Dallon watched him and looked around for a moment before starting to back up. He sniffled and watched as Brendon followed him all the way over to a big tree in the back of camp. Once they got there Dallon grabbed Brendon by the blood soaked collar of his shirt and turned him around, pushing him against the large tree. He dropped the rope and grabbed Brendon's two arms, forcing them behind his back. The dead singer let out an ungodly noise, shrieking as the other pulled his arm, causing the wound on his neck to open more. Dallon tied the smallers hands together and cut the rope with his knife. He put the knife back in his pocket and quickly turned him around once again, pushing him against the tree. He grabbed the rope and tied him two the tree, making several loops around it to ensure he was securely tied.
Even though he was definitely un-dead. It was like there was still something still alive in his brain.
April 15, 2015 - 4 Days After the Bite
It had been 4 days after the walker initially bit Brendon, and 3 days after Brendon's birthday when he actually turned. The group kept the singer tied up against the tree with a bandana over his eyes and cloth wrapped around his wound. Twice a day they put antibiotics or medicinal plants over the wound, then put the new cloth over it. They force fed him some of the food they ate, along with even more antibiotics. He wasn't like the other walkers they came across, he was- different. And every day, just a little, his wound started to heal. His breathing wasn't as gurgly and he didn't growl or snarl as much. He didn't have as big reactions to some things. He didn't seem to fight against the others as much. He seemed to be improving, and that was all Dallon needed to keep going.
April 18, 2015 - 7 Days After the Bite
They had started to run low on antibiotics. It was draining, taking care of the undead singer. Not only emotionally, but physically. It was difficult trying to help him, and they were running out of the right supplies for him. However, it did seem to work. At this point his eyes were moving around more once the blindfold got taken off which was whenever they went to check on him. His jaw wasn't hanging down as much, and his breathing was improving a little more. He wasn't really making gurgling noises, and although he still growled and snarled when there was a sudden movement, he was more or less calm when Dallon or Spencer sat right in front of him. His cut looked oddly better, it was disgusting, but looked like it was getting better. It was starting to regain normal color, instead of being dark and dead looking. It was looking more- alive.
April 26, 2015 - 15 Days After the Bite
While Brendon was getting better, their living situation was getting worse. They were running extremely low on supplies, and couldn't afford to use anymore on Brendon. If something happened, they needed to use what little they had left on themselves. At this point, it was like Brendon knew when he was supposed to eat. He was becoming more life like, and Dallon was getting his hopes up. The singers eyes moved around almost normally, and the color was coming back. The white of his eye still looked cloudy and had a tint to it, but it was coming back. The once vibrant brown was still dark, but again, coming back. He was pale, but he didn't necessarily look- dead. He looked on the verge of death. He wasn't snarling or growling anymore, it was like he had completely lost his zombie-like appetite, although it was never normal. He sometimes made poor attempts to get out of the rope, pushing his legs and shifting his shoulders.
Dallon sighed softly and grabbed a potato from the fire, then grabbed a fork and a plate. Because they were stationed by a clear, clean lake, they were able to clean everything. He made sure it was relatively cool before grabbing a bottle of water and some more antibiotics and making his way over to the big tree Brendon was tied to.
"Hi hon..." he said softly, slowly sitting down in front of the other. Brendon was taking short, quick and shallow breaths, moving the upper half of his body around. Dallon put the plate and bottle down, then gently reached forward to pull his blindfold off. Brendon scrunched up his face just slightly, his eyes dilating at the sudden sun. He let out a noise from the back of his throat, stretching his legs out, clearly unsatisfied with the sudden light. The taller smiled faintly and watched him. He took some potato on the fork and slowly moved it up to Brendons face, watching as the less alive being opened his mouth just the slightest, and fed him the potato. He did this over and over until the inside of the potato was gone, and then moved the plate and fork away. He opened the water bottle and held it up to Brendons mouth, tilting it slightly so the liquid fell between his lips and into his mouth.
"Where going away for a little while, getting you some more antibiotics." Dallon started to talk to him as he changed his bandages, putting more medicine on it. He sighed softly and sat back, looking at the smaller.
"I love you..." he said softly, taking his things and slowly standing up. "Stay strong for me." He added and started to walk towards the camper.
"Dall..."
April 29, 2015 - 18 Days After the Bite
Needless to say, they were late. They got caught, and had to stay overnight and extra day. However, they got much needed antibiotics and some food and other necessities. By the time they got back, it had rained twice. They quietly drove up to their side, parking in the designated spot. Dallon was the first to rush out, the only thing on his mind Brendon. He left everything and everyone in the car before swinging the door and hopping out. He didn't even bother to shut the door before running over to the big tree in the back.
What if the infection got to him?
What if he didn't have enough water?
What if an animal got to him?
What if a walker got to him?
What if he died?
"B-Brendon?" Dallon asked frantically, standing nervously in front of the lifeless body. However when he spoke, the smallers head lifted up, facing Dallon. The taller instantly dropped to his knees and leaned forward, taking the blindfold off. Brendons eyes almost instantly widened and dilated, then slowly shut and closed tight. He let out a whine and shifted his whole body, tensing up.
"B-Brendon- baby?" Dallon asked softly, his focus fixed on the other. Their friends slowly made their way over, watching from a distance. Brendon once again let out a small whine, eventually turning forwards and facing Dallon before slowly opening his eyes. They again dilated, but they looked alive. The white was an actual white, and the colored part was a normal chocolate brown. Yes, they were dull and not bright, but they were alive. His lips looked chapped, he had bags under his eyes to. His hair flopped in his face, caused by the lack of work done to it, water and sweat.
"D-Dall..." he mumbled hoarsely, slowly scrunching his face up after he talked. Tears slowly filled the others eyes, and he instantly started to work on taking his restraints off. He grabbed the knife out of his pocket and started to cut the rope of the tree, then started to cut the rope off of his arms. Once he was free, Brendon fell forward and fell on Dallon with a small oof. Dallon wrapped his arms around his baby, holding him close.
"Y-your okay... Y-your back, I've got you baby..." Brendon was alive, and he was never letting him go again.
