Prologue:
Prince Virgil Sanders was alone in his castle, having his dinner. Lightning thundered outside, but he didn't take much mind of it, when he heard a knock on the castle gates. He looked out to see a woman. She asked for shelter for the night until the storm passes, and despite being untrusting, Virgil let her in. He soon regretted that, as she made romantic advances on him, handing him a rose.

"I'm not really interested in you, ma'am," he said, because he was gay.

She, however, took it as an insult to her looks, and transformed into a witch. "A curse upon you, Prince Virgil Sanders! Your time will last until the last petal of this rose drops, if someone can love you wholly, without regards to your appearance, before the time runs out, the curse will be lifted! If not... I can only assure you that you will never be who you were, ever again!" She disappeared dramatically in a cloud of smoke before he could reply, leaving only one thing.

A fresh, blood red rose on the floor where she disappeared.

The next morning, Prince Virgil woke up double the size he was before, covered in long black and purple fur. He barely resembled himself.

~~~actual story starts here~~~
Logan Berry walked out of his house, reading a book. He weaved through the crowd while keeping his eyes trained on the book, stopping only when he reached the bakery. "Hello Patton, I'd like two loaves of bread please." "Logan!! :D how are you?"
"I'm doing well. The bread, please." Patton, the local Baker, grinned at him and walked to get the bread. "Have you found someone special yet, Logan? You can't marry books, you know that right?"
"I'm aware, Patton, I'm simply not interested. May I have my bread?" He placed the money on the table, sighing as Patton finally gave him the bread, and turned to leave. "Wait, logan?"
"Yes?" He knew what question was coming, it came every day. "Can you ask Roman about me?" He sighed, "you know I can't set you up with my brother, Patton. If you want to meet him so bad, talk to him! Although I must admit I don't understand what you see in him."
Patton sighed, "bye, logan!" Logan waved to him, turning around and burying his nose back into his book. He had to do something to make the two of them interact sometime, his days have been sub-optimal with their constant asking about each other, and he did not want to make himself a buffer between his brother and his baker.
As he enter the house, he heard clattering somewhere in Roman's room, and knew his brother had some new adventure he wanted to take him on. As if on cue, Roman burst out of his room in a flamboyant pose, "Logan, brother dear, blood of mine, we have a task tomorrow!"
"I've bought the bread, Roman, but from tomorrow onwards you will be the one going to the bakery. I'm tired of having to do such a menial task when I could be finishing my research!"
"You know I love you, Logan, but you're boring. Also, I can't simply face him! It's not that simple! He must first be attacked by a dragon witch and I must save him, and then, we must marry! Anyways, as I was saying, you know that really mysterious castle in the forest that everyone thinks is cursed ever since King Sanders died and his son went missing that nobody goes near because they're scared? *deep breath* we're gonna explore it!"
He sighed and agreed to his brother, knowing if things got scary or dangerous, Roman would be the first one running out, and would probably carry him out too. Also, if he didn't, Roman wouldn't leave him alone. It seemed to be a great morning so far.
Logan was reading his book, and didn't realize 5 hours had already passed, and heard a loud knock outside his door. He looked through the peephole, seeing a man dressed in sharp yellow and black attire grinning back at him. He sighed, turning away, when he knocked again. "Oh, Lo-gan?" He sang out.
He opened the door, "What do you want, Devon?" Devon replied, "not much, just you. A pretty boy like you shouldn't stay in reading books all day! Why don't you join me? And maybe one day, you could be my househusband."
Logan shook his head, "I have informed you multiple times, Devon, I am not searching for a romantic relationship at the moment. Even if I was, however, I'm not interested in someone who belittles my interests and has none of his own." He rolled his eyes and shut the door. Devon spoke loudly, knowing logan could hear him through the door, "my offer is always on the table, pretty boy! You'll be begging for me one day, believe me! All the others do!"
Logan ignored him, returning to his book, and soon to sleep. Little did he know, he had a very interesting appointment with fate the next day.
~~
He woke up to a very loud Roman, singing with the birds. "Ugh. Roman, could you please keep it down? I have 20 seconds left on my recommended 8 hours of sleep."
"Pack up, MockingNerd. We're going on a trip into the forest, and you can't back out." Roman sang, a large backpack on the table next to him. Logan sighed, knowing he'd agreed to this, but regretted every decision he'd made leading up to this point. He packed the essentials, first aid and such, knowing roman was bound to get hurt and that all he'd packed would be food.
As they went off, he consoled himself internally, he's your brother, you have to help him, besides, it might allow you to catalogue the flora and fauna, and make some insights on the forest's ecosystem, but as he watched Roman recklessly jump into any body of water and touch every plant (thank god there was no poison ivy or other such plant so far) he thought to himself, it's not required to have a brother, you can be just as productive without one, if not more.
After at least an hour of walking, the pair came across the large, dark, nearly gothic castle. They exchanged a glance, before climbing the locked gated and entering. Logan spotted a candelabra with all the candles lit. Suspicious, he thought, no one lives here, how is the fire burning? He stopped staring at it, however, when he realized his brother was far ahead of him already. Catching up, he looked around, "this place is beautiful." "Right? I bet you're glad I brought you along"
Logan hated to admit it, but he was, indeed, glad. He had always had a curiosity about what exactly happened here, as he knew better than to believe the town rumors. Roman seemed just a bit afraid, however, although he'd never confirm that thought.
They had explored the library and the ballroom when logan felt someone watching them, and turned around quickly, only to see a lit candelabra on a nearby table. Strange, he wondered, the candelabras look absolutely alike and they're both lit. Who has been coming into this castle?
He kept going, however, when roman, who was guiding him in the hallway, suddenly froze. Logan,surprised, bumped into Roman, and they both fell at the feet of a large, hairy creature that seemed to be glaring at them. Logan quickly picked himself up as his eyes scanned the 'beast'. He wore a large, royal looking purple jacket, with a black shirt and dress pants. He looked more annoyed than feral, so clearly the beast had a conscience.
Of course, Roman was still struggling to get up, panicking in this discovery, and quite ready to run home, but the beast picked them up. He walked them out of his house and dropped them, "if you know what's good for you, you won't return."
This, of course, ensured that he would return. Roman may have seen enough for today, but Logan's curiosity had now been piqued. He was going to get to the bottom of this story and figure out what happened in this castle, fear be damned. As Roman tugged Logan back home, he couldn't help but think about the creature he had met. Why had he let them go? Who was he?
The next day, Logan awoke with his full 8 hours, and quickly packed a bag, leaving a note for Roman so that he'll know that Logan's out. He was going much faster this time, as Roman wasn't around, stopping at every pretty flower he saw. For some reason, the only thing in his mind was that Beast from yesterday... what was he? Why was he in that castle? Before he knew it, Logan had arrived at the Sanders Castle. He entered once again, confident in what he was looking for this time. He walked around, searching for the Beast. Was he an invader? Had he killed the royals that previously lived there? He didn't seem very murderous but, then again, there was an infinitesimal chance that Logan was mistaken.
He looked around, the candelabra from yesterday his only source of light. Suddenly, he heard whispers in the next room, and looked through the doorway to see- huh? A... A candelabra talking to a clock? "I'm telling you, babes, there were two guys yesterday, and one of the others just told me that one of the guys is back! And believe me, sis, the dude's hot. If prince virgil doesn't go for him, I will."
Who were they talking about? How were they talking? The pink clock seemed to nod excitedly, "this is great! The prince will be free! He'll finally find his perfect fusion!"
Logan finally decided he'd heard enough, and walked into the room, his footsteps echoing loudly as the two immediately paused conversation, pretending to be inanimate.
Author's note: I know Dee's coming on pretty strong, but so did gaston. Also, the witch had a hell of an overreaction, but what's new? Part 2 coming soon!
There will, indeed, be interaction between them in part two.
