Author's Note

Where do I even begin?

This book was certainly a wild ride from start to finish. I had always wanted to write something "dark" without going full-blown "edgy," and I think I sort of achieved that with Being Human. But these two works took it to a whole other level.

As much fun as it was to write, I don't think I could make something like this again. I kind of scared myself at some points and I believe I accomplished what I set out to do, which was write a story that made myself and my readers cry, and bring an ending to it that wasn't just all sunshine and butterflies. I dunno, I just got tired of happy endings for a little while and decided to not pull any punches with this one.

Battle Cry was meant to be a bit more intense than Brainwashed, and I think I accomplished that.

I'm trying to imagine how I felt when I began this journey, how you guys felt at the beginning of this story. It's crazy to think this all started due to the smallest tweak in the plot, and devolved into this insanity.

Now...

Thank you to everyone who read this book.

I changed the ending to Battle Cry at least 3 different times, because I wasn't quite sure how I wanted it to end. I knew it was going to be dark, and I knew Ratchet and Jack were not going to make it, but other than that I wasn't sure where it was going to go at first.

In the first two endings, Optimus/Starscream actually successfully killed Megatron during their confrontation after discovering Ratchet, and then they took over Darkmount and forced Dreadwing to surrender. In both endings, as well, I had Jack die in the ER while they ran his code instead of passing quietly like he did for this ending. Eventually I decided against it while re-writing the third time, because I wanted his death to hit a little harder. I also wanted to at least make his death as minimally traumatic as possible, just as a juxtaposition to how everyone else had gone. I was also not sure how I wanted to go about infiltrating Darkmount.

Miko also was alive in the first two endings, but then as I was writing the third I made the decision to incinerate her. For those of you who did not like Miko, you're welcome. For those of you who did, sorry, but at least she went out the way I think she would want to.

I hope you guys had a fun time reading, even if the ending was not exactly what you expected/wanted/hoped for. I enjoyed writing it and exploring themes, and I am really glad I had the motivation and determination to not only write Brainwashed, but complete Battle Cry as well! This story has come a long way and, honestly, I'm super happy with it. Being Human, I think, was my first peak as an author, and now this work has been a second peak.

All of your guys' comments have made my day, and I am so glad to hear your thoughts and reactions to my writing. Votes are great, but I really benefit more from reading comments and seeing what you all have to say.

Once again, thank you so, so much for everything. As of right now I don't have any plans for another work, but when inspiration hits me, I'll be sure to let you know. I know I have a few works - Paramnesia, Sorry Not Sorry - which I could expand upon, but as of writing this I don't have anything.

I might do one-shot stories for "what-ifs" of my current works, which I'll probably put in "Burned and Healed Things" despite the title, LOL. A lot of people are asking for Seeker!Sierra (which I find endlessly funny), so I might be able to crank out one of those. Again, we'll see.

I'll still participate on Wattpad a little bit, but as this year continues on (with an uncertain future in store) I can't guarantee anything right now.

Thank you all,

Also, here's a couple pictures of Buster and Thundercracker, perhaps my new favorite Transformers duo:
