May

I've been wanting to document my monthly favorites for a while, now. I don't think anyone particularly cares that much, but I think it'd help me grow as a person and push me to try to make each month different.

So here's what happened in May.

May was extremely high-energy for me in terms of my emotions. If anyone watched Spy Kids (don't touch me), it's like that scene in the second movie where Carmen and Juni fall down the volcano, and they feel like they've fallen for so long that it's just not scary anymore. I'm the dog in the burning house. Lots of good and bad things happened, it was just crazy.

1) Vampire Knight

I decided to give it a try. I enjoyed it, it was fine. Not at all remarkable, and very very cheesy, but I had fun sitting and watching.

2) Andy Black: The Shadow Side

I've known about Andy Biersack and Black Veil Brides since the seventh or eighth grade, and I liked them back then, but it was never an intense love. In April, I got consumed by him and his band. This month, he released his first solo album (no, he hasn't left BVB) and I've been listening to it like crazy. My personal favorite songs are We Don't Have To Dance, !!!RIBCAGE!!!, Beautiful Pain, and Drown Me Out. Paint It Black is an honorable mention.

3) Tumblr

Tumblr is a favorite for me every month, but this month I discovered that it's very easy to keep a fandom blog. So I've been managing two major blogs this month (major in terms of importance to me and number of times I post on each).

4) Instagram

I've always liked that Instagram gives instant gratification in terms of the speed that random likes roll in. I've had an Instagram account since eighth grade, but recently I made a spam account to just post whatever crap comes to mind without worrying about the aesthetic of my main account. If you would like to follow it, the username is famebowie. I also made an account just for posting pictures of the clouds here in New Mexico, and the username for that is sandiaskies.

5) Shanghai Girls by Lisa See

This book is so incredibly humbling. It's about two sisters who get sold as wives to pay off their father's debt. It highlights the struggles of Chinese immigrants living in America through World War II and the rise of communism in China. The sisters go through so much shit, and I cannot count how many times I've looked at my own life and compared it to theirs. The shit I take for granted would've been a huge luxury to them. The tone throughout is very monotonous, even as terrible things happen, and the effect is chilling. Also, I tweeted about it last month and just recently the author liked my tweet, so that was cool for me.

6) Bernie Sanders

I attended a Bernie Sanders rally. I was right up front. I could've taken five steps and ran right into him. For the first time in my life, I felt patriotic. I felt American. A politician made me feel like I mattered, like I had a voice, and like I had something to fight for. And that's an incredibly important milestone in my life.

7) Oriental ramen

After the last thing, this is pretty underwhelming. But I've been eating chicken ramen my whole life, and I tried some oriental for the first time, and it's way way better. I'm very cautious when it comes to food, and I don't usually stray from my beaten path, so I thought that this was worth mentioning.

8) Clueless

I watched this movie for the first time! It's not as good as Legally Blonde obviously, but I thought it was very clever and entertaining. Girl movies make me so happy.

9) Precise V5 pens

I've loved and used these black pens since eighth grade (I've mentioned that year so often this chapter), but I bought a pack of colored ones, and they've made documenting this month so satisfying. They're the perfect size, the ink flows beautifully, and they don't bleed through most papers. I personally like the pink, dark blue, and purple ones, which is strange, because I generally don't enjoy purple anything. Good pens.

10) Studyign

Studyblrs and amazing. As someone who could probably jerk off over nice pens and neat penmanship, I can't get enough of them. Studyign's YouTube channel is so nice - the videos are short, sweet, and jam-packed with knowledge, the thumbnails all match up, and her opening is satisfying to watch. If you like anything related to schoolwork, organization, and bullet journals, then I highly recommend her channel.

11) danisnotonfire: How To Study For Exams

I was asked what my favorite Dan Howell video was, and I didn't have an answer until How To Study For Exams. I think it's the best video he's made so far, he was just so goofy and theatrical and he obviously had so much fun filming it. I wish I had some behind the scenes footage from it, because I'm sure it'd be gold.

12) Andy pipe

My birthday was in April, and Annie (@damagedvessel WADDUP) bought me a little pipe. It's very cute, about the size of a pack of gum, and because it's black and white I named it Andy. The bowl is pretty small, but that's good for me, because I only started smoking a few months ago in February. I don't have to worry about packing more than I can handle at one time. Easy to use and easy to hide.

Fin.

That was fun. It took way longer than I'd expected, but whatever. I like sharing my opinions.
