Valentine's Day- Theo and Dimitri
“This is stupid,” I said with a pout.
“I think it’s nice,” Thalia said.
“Oh Theo, be nice to Dimitri. He made you dinner,” mom said.
“I hate Valentine’s Day,” I reminded her. It was a stupid holiday created to sell cheesy cards and chocolate.
“Quit being such a brat. Just go to his house and pretend you can tolerate him,” Thalia said, flicking my ear.
“Whatever,” I grumbled, grabbing my car keys and leaving the house.
I rang Dimitri’s doorbell a few minutes later. Alek opened the door and let me into the house. I was surprised, since usually only their parents ever answered the door.
“Where are your parents?” I asked.
“Out to dinner. I’m babysitting Galen since you and Dimitri are…busy,” she said, eyeing me with distaste.
Galen peeked out from behind her. She turned and lifted him into her arms, kicking the door shut.
“Dimitri’s in the kitchen,” she said. She pulled Galen’s head against her shoulder and covered his other ear with her hand. “And you know how he is, Theo. I’m warning you not to ever sleep with my brother. I can promise you’ll regret it,” she said coldly. “Don’t try to be romantic or whatever. If you won’t break up with him, at least have the dignity not to sleep with him.”
She pulled her hand away from Galen’s ear and he picked his head up. “Alek, I hate when you don’t let me hear what you say!” he whined.
“Come on. Let’s go watch a movie,” Alek said.
Galen brightened up. “With popcorn?”
Alek nodded. “Sure!”
Galen giggled and wrapped his arms around her neck. She shot me a warning look before carrying the little boy out of the room.
I went into the kitchen and Dimitri smiled over at me cheerfully. I stared at him in absolute horror.
“What are you wearing?” I finally managed to ask.
He had on a gaudy pink sweater over lime green jeans. Instead of his usual purple fohawk, he had spiked the front of his hair up. With purple spikes lining the front of his hair, the natural brown hair fell neatly.
“Good evening little Theodore,” he said, ignoring my horror. He came over and tilted my chin up, placing a kiss on my lips.
“Dimitri, I don’t like Valentine’s Day,” I told him for the billionth time.
“Ah, but I do, little Theodore,” he said with a charming smile.
“Why?” I groaned. “There doesn’t need to be a special day to show how much you love someone.”
“It’s like mother’s day. You love your mother every day, of course, but on that day you can make a big deal out of that love,” he said with a shrug.
“It sounds like you’re going to leave me for your mom,” I said.
He grinned. “I love my mother, little Theodore, but she is not my type. Plus, you’ve seen my father. Anyone who took his wife away from him had better have their will in order.”
He grabbed my arm and forced me to sit down at the table. “Now, I made us dinner, darling,” he said, pulling something out of the oven and setting it down on the table.
I peeked at it and sighed. “Dimitri, it’s just lasagna,” I said.
“Ah! But it’s lasagna made by your fabulous boyfriend for you,” he said, sitting down across from me and pouring us each a glass of wine.
“Wine?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“My parents have no problem with me enjoying a glass of wine whenever I want. I doubt they’d mind if I shared the experience with my boyfriend,” he said, the grin peeking back on his face.
I sighed and began to eat, reluctantly accepting that Dimitri actually did make delicious food. We sipped on our wine and talked casually until we were done eating.
“Care to join me in my bedroom, dear?” he offered, holding his hand out to me as he stood up.
I took his hand in mine and he led me up to his bedroom. He shut the door and locked it, leading me over to his bed.
“I would be quite disappointed if my brother or sister interrupted us,” he said with a wink.
“Interrupted us?” I asked suspiciously.
“You are getting quite the dirty mind, little Theodore.” He went over to his bed, pulling his hideous sweater off and lying down. He folded his hands behind his head and smirked at me. “I enjoy simple things, if you’ll recall. I prefer cuddling over sex on Valentine’s Day.”
I sighed and went over, crawling next to him. He wrapped his arms around me, hugging me to his bare chest.
“I know you dislike Valentine’s Day. But I’m glad you played along,” he said, kissing me.
“I really do appreciate it, Dimitri. I know you put a lot of effort into making dinner,” I said, feeling guilty. He could seem like a heartless jackass at times, but I knew he cared. “Sorry I didn’t do anything for you.”
“And again, darling: You played along. I’m grateful for that,” he said honestly.
“I love you. And I’m not just saying that because the calendar told me to,” I said, lightly running my hand down his smooth chest. “I’m saying it because I mean it.”
“I love you. And I’m saying that because the calendar told me to, and because it is very, very true,” he said, grinning and kissing me.
I smiled lightly and curled against him. He began to play with my hair and I traced light circles on his chest with my finger. We laid there, content to just be together.
