New Story- Teasers
Uhhh so Friend Zoned is almost over (hallelujah) and it's almost time for college to start up for me. Once I'm back at school, I think I'll get into a writing routine again (totally fell out of it this summer, hence my lack of updates). So I have 3 projects I'm currently working on, and, as usual, I'll let you guys decides which one you want to read first (and you'll get to read all of them so don't worry if the one you want doesn't get chosen).
Sooo here are the stories:
#1- Consequences (I've already posted 2 teasers for this one before):
“Dakota, this day is dragging on forever!” I groaned as I sat at the lunch table. Jesse was next to me, and Dominik had gone to get us napkins.
“Calm down Tyson. Suffering through today will be worth it,” Dakota promised.
“Why? What’s going on?” Jesse asked.
“Dominik is asking Tyson out tomorrow,” Dakota said, grinning at me. “They’re going to the park at noon.”
“Well apparently tomorrow is never actually going to happen because today has decided that it never wants to freaking end!” I huffed, crossing my arms childishly.
“But it’ll be well worth the wait, so just shut up!” Dakota said. “But seriously, you might want to shut up about it, because Dominik is coming back.”
I snapped my mouth shut as Dominik returned and sat down with us. I glanced over at the popular table and paled a little as I noticed Marco Avery watching Jesse.
Marco turned to Brooks and nudged him. He whispered something and Brooks looked over as well. His eyes gleamed and he snickered, nodding at Marco.
I quickly turned back to my friends, hoping that they didn’t notice. I guess the Avery brothers were still after Jesse.
I wonder what he did that had them after him like this. He had to have done something really bad in their eyes.
“Tyson!”
I jumped as Dominik snapped in my face. I glanced at the faces of my friends. They were all staring at me curiously.
“What?” I asked.
“You zoned out. We’ve been calling your name,” Dominik said, rolling his eyes. “What’s up? What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing,” I said with a sigh.
“Are you feeling okay?” he asked, frowning and gesturing at my arm.
“Yea, I’m fine,” I said, glancing at my arm. It was a swirl of nasty colors, bruised from the needle injection all the way up to my bicep. My arm was so terribly sore, and I had one of the worst bruises out of everyone who had gone yesterday.
“That’s a pretty nasty bruise. You probably won’t be able to straighten your arm for about a week,” Jesse said.
“Great,” I said miserably.
“But it was for a good cause!” Dominik said cheerfully, patting me on the back.
“Are we hanging out after school?” Dakota asked.
“BACK TO TYSON’S!” Dominik cried.
“No!” I whined. “We’re not going to my house again!”
“Yes we are,” Dominik and Dakota said at the same time.
I sighed. “Fine. We can go back to my house.” I turned to Jesse. “Want to come over again? If we didn’t scare you away yet.”
Jesse chuckled and shrugged. “Sure. I like hanging out with you guys.”
For some reason, that made my heart race a little faster. I mentally shook myself. What the hell was up with that? I only had feelings for Dominik. And starting tomorrow, Dominik was going to be my boyfriend.
Description: Fun-loving best friends Tyson and Dominik couldn’t be any happier. They are almost boyfriends, just waiting for the right moment to make it official. Everything is going perfectly for them. Then Jesse Kahler enters their lives. Tyson is shocked that the once popular, and extremely attractive, Jesse wants to befriend him. As feelings between the two begin to emerge, so does jealousy between Dominik and Jesse. Both want Tyson for themselves, and Tyson struggles with his feelings for the two boys he has fallen so deeply for.
#2- Outcasts (Eh, I'll probably change the title for this one):
I looked around the table. Everyone here was so strange in their own way. Josiah seemed to be the most normal person here.
“I advise you to get away from this table while you still can, Jules. Once you’re sucked in, there’s no way out,” Jimm said.
“And there goes the soulless ginger again,” Josiah said with a sad sigh.
“I really don’t like you,” Jimm grumbled.
“Jules! You’re too quiet,” Lea said, frowning. “That’s Jimm’s job. You need to talk more!”
“I’LL HELP HER TALK MORE!” Chance cried in excitement. His excitement was cut off as his brother gripped his ear again. “Ow, ow, ow, Jimm let go!” he whined.
“I guess I just don’t have much to say. I don’t really know you guys,” I said honestly. They seemed like a close-knit group of friends. I didn’t exactly feel out of place here, but I also didn’t exactly feel welcome.
“You’ll get to know us,” Josiah promised.
“Whether you want to or not,” Lea added with a wink.
I looked around the cafeteria and noticed some guys staring at me. I nervously turned my attention back to the table.
“Why are those guys staring at me?” I asked.
“Because you’re freaking gorgeous,” Lea said.
Josiah stifled a laugh as I sighed. I opened my mouth to inform them of my gender, but, yet again, was stopped.
“Yea, you’re real gorgeous Jules,” Josiah said before I could say anything.
I pouted at him and he finally let his laughter out. He slung an arm around me and grinned at me.
“Don’t worry Jules; he’s gay. He won’t actually try to get with you,” Lea said.
I blushed as Josiah laughed harder. I hastily ducked away from his arm. He leaned back in his chair, looking amused.
“Jules, you should hang out with us afterschool!” Chance said eagerly. “We’re going to our house tonight!” He slung an arm around Jimm’s shoulders.
“Yea, you should come!” Lea said, just as eager.
“It’ll be fun! Jules can come, right Jimm?” Josiah asked, glancing at Jimm.
Jimm shrugged. “Sure, if she wants to.”
“Guys, before we say anything else, I just want to clear up something. I’m a-”
“YAY WE GET TO HANG OUT WITH JULES AFTERSCHOOL! Hey, that almost rhymed!” Chance was bouncing up and down in his seat excitedly.
Sigh. It wasn’t even worth it anymore.
“Awesome! It’ll be fun!” Josiah said, smiling widely at me.
“Oh, this is so weird. The only girl we’ve ever hung out with is Lea,” Chance said, frowning. “And Lea’s weird.”
“Hey!” Lea said, whacking him in the arm. “I am not!”
“Oh, yea, about that. I think Jules has something to tell all of you,” Josiah said, finally catching their attention. “Jules, go on and tell them.”
I turned to the curious faces in front of me. “Uh…I’m a boy.”
Like Josiah, it took all three of them a minute to process what I was saying.
“WHAT?” Lea cried at last.
I nodded. “Yea, I’m a boy.”
Lea narrowed her eyes at me suspiciously. “Prove it.”
I sighed and tugged my shirt up, revealing my flat chest. “See? Boy.”
“WHAT, YOU DIDN’T PULL YOUR SHIRT UP FOR ME!” Josiah cried.
“She is actually a he!” Chance said. He gripped Jimm’s shoulder and began to shake him violently. “Do you see that Jimm?!”
“I see it,” Jimm said, pushing Chance away from himself. Even Jimm looked surprised at the news of my gender.
“How did you know, Josiah?” Lea asked suspiciously.
“Because I kept calling him a girl too, and then he told me right before first period that he’s a boy!” Josiah said.
“This sucks! Here I was, thinking you were some cute girl,” Lea said with a depressed sigh.
“Aw, you’ll find a good girlfriend someday, Lea! One who isn’t actually a boy!” Josiah said, patting her on the back reassuringly.
“You’ll still hang out with us afterschool, right Jules?” Chance asked.
“Yea, I’ll still hang out with you guys,” I said.
“Well, I’m excited that Jules is our friend now. I mean, now there’s five of us! One girl and-” Josiah suddenly stopped and his eyes widened in horror. “No,” he moaned, burying his face in his hands.
“I was waiting for him to notice,” Jimm said.
“Notice what? Josiah, are you okay?” I asked.
“NO I’M NOT OKAY NOW THERE’S FOUR GUYS!” Josiah cried, pulling his face away from his hands and gesturing at us wildly. “WHY CAN’T YOU JUST BE A GIRL, JULES? THEN THERE WOULD BE TWO GIRLS, THREE BOYS, AND FIVE TOTAL. IT WOULD BE PERFECT.”
“What are you talking about? Why does it matter?” I asked, completely confused.
“Josiah has a severe hatred of the number four. No one, not even him, knows why. But it drives him crazy. He can’t stand when things are in groups of four,” Lea explained.
“Oh this is a nightmare. There can’t be four boys!” Josiah said miserably.
“Josiah, it’s going to be okay,” Lea said.
“No it’s not!” Josiah cried.
“Well, you could always kick Jules out of the group,” Jimm said.
“We can’t do that! I’ll just have to tolerate this,” Josiah said, determination in his voice.
“He’ll be fine,” Jimm said and took a sip of his drink.
“So…Are you not friends with people who only have four letter names?” I asked, suddenly curious. How did you handle a crippling OCD about the number four?
Josiah pointed at Jimm. “Sadly, I am. Jimm spells his name with two M’s.”
“It drives Josiah crazy and he thinks I do it just to make him mad,” Jimm said.
“Can we not talk about this right now? I mean, did everybody forget that we just found out that this beautiful girl is actually a boy?” Lea said, pointing at me.
“I think he’s just confused about his gender!” Chance said.
“No, I’m definitely a boy,” I said. Ugh, why did I have to be born with such feminine features?
“Well, we’re all freaks here and outcasts here. So I guess we can just count that as Jules’s outcast feature,” Josiah said, winking at me playfully.
“Is that supposed to cheer me up?” I asked.
Josiah nodded. “Indeed it is! We’re all weird here. It’s weird how girly you look for a boy. You’ll fit right in with us. Welcome to the outcasts, Jules.”
For some reason, that actually had me smiling.
Description: Jules has a problem- everyone thinks he’s a girl. When Jules moves to a new school, he finds himself making quirky new friends. Josiah, Lea, Jimm, and Chance are outcasts who have banded together, pulling Jules into their group as well. Jules finds himself being put into outrageous situations thanks to his new friends. From stealing in the girls’ locker room, to babysitting an 18 year old, to pretending to be someone’s girlfriend, Jules just can’t catch a break. Things get even crazier when Josiah falls in love with Jules. But Jules is straight…right?
#3- This one doesn't have a title yet:
“Derek, stop it! Please, leave him alone!” the girl begged.
“Stay out of this Amanda! I told him to drop it, and he didn’t,” Derek said before striking Talen again. “Are you going to let it drop?”
“No,” Talen managed. “No, I won’t. You’re going to leave Lucas alone. He’s my friend, and I’m not going to let you embarrass him anymore.”
Derek shrugged and began hitting Talen again, over and over. Amanda watched in horror, and one of the other boys grabbed her when she moved to help Talen.
Derek shoved the now beaten Talen backwards. Talen just barely managed to steady himself against the lockers.
“You should’ve let it drop,” Derek said, raising his fist to hit Talen again.
Before I even realized what I was doing, I found myself sliding in front of Talen with my arms out. Derek’s eyes widened and he slowly dropped his fist.
“I know you. You’re that freak who’s always by himself,” he said.
“Leave this kid alone,” I said. “If you were messing with his friend, he has every right to be angry at you.”
“It’s none of your business,” Derek said, trying to shove me out of the way.
But I didn’t budge. “Leave him alone,” I repeated, narrowing my eyes at Derek.
“Fine. You can have your way for now. But you can’t protect him forever,” Derek said with a shrug. He turned at motioned at his friends to follow him as he walked down the hallway.
I let my arms drop back to my side as I watched the three disappear. I went over and picked my bag up off the ground, not even remembering having dropped it. I began to walk off down the hallway towards the back exit of the school.
“Hey! Wait!”
I paused and turned. Talen hurried over to me, stopping in front of me. Amanda was watching us nervously from the lockers.
“Thanks for that,” he said gratefully. “Derek doesn’t like it when people go against him, but he was trying to embarrass my friend, so I had to do something. He would’ve kicked my ass if you hadn’t stepped in.”
“No problem,” I mumbled and started walking again.
Talen followed me. “I’m Talen,” he said. Realizing that I wasn’t going to reply to that, he bit his lip. “I know you. I’ve seen you around. What’s your name?”
“Zero,” I said, not looking at him.
He stared at me in surprise. “Is your name really Zero? I always thought it was just a nickname they gave you.”
I shook my head. “No. My name is Zero.”
“Oh, wow. Well, anyways, thanks for saving me back there Zero,” he said.
I just nodded, having reached the back doors. I pushed them open and started to walk out, stopping when Talen reached out and grabbed my arm.
“Wait!” he said. “I really do appreciate you helping me but…I have to ask. Why did you jump in front of me like that?”
I regarded him, my face clear of expressions. Talen had eyes that were narrowly shaped and an almost maroon color. He would look mean if it weren’t for the soft look in his eyes.
“Because you were defending a friend. No one deserves to be hurt for standing up for what they care about,” I said at last.
In reality, I wasn’t really sure why I had jumped in front of Talen like that. Maybe it really was because he had just been standing up for a person he cared about. I respected people who stood up for who and what they cared about. But I wasn’t sure if that was why I had thrown myself in front of him the way I had. Still, what other reason could there have possibly been?
“Well, thank you again. Hey, do you want to hang out with us?” he asked eagerly.
“No,” I said, heading through the doors without another word to him.
I made my way down the hill and over the fence, away from the school. I didn’t bother to glance back as I left.
Like the snowman in my snow globe, I liked to be isolated. My world had no room for other people, especially not for people as naive as Talen appeared to be.
I still wasn’t completely sure why I had jumped in front of him to protect him the way I had. But I knew one thing for sure.
I would never let anybody into my life, especially not someone like Talen.
Description: Zero is alone in the world, and he likes it that way. He likes being isolated from other people. When he saves Talen Harding from getting beaten up, he doesn’t realize how much his world is going to change. Talen becomes determined to break into Zero’s isolated world, claiming he loves Zero. But Zero is willing to do anything to stay by himself, even if it means shattering Talen’s heart.
