Charatcers- Jude Tibbits

A.N.- Okay well this was a request over Twitter and I didn't know where to post it, so here it is! It's basically a quick flashthrough of Jude Tibbits's life (like what I did with Ethan/Dimitr/Kory). For those who don't know, Jude is from Friend Zoned and Changing Will. He's personally one of my favorite charatcers :p So, enjoy and let me know what you think of Jude after reading this!

                Jude Tibbits

Syd Tibbits sneezed and mentally cursed. He peeked at the baby cradled in his wife’s arms and relaxed, glad he hadn’t woken him.

“He needs a name, Syd,” his wife, Tatiana, said. She smiled lovingly at the baby. He had cried himself to sleep after a while. “I like Judeikas. It was my great-grandfather’s name.”

“You can pick his first name,” Syd said, reaching out and gently stroking the baby’s cheek, so glad his son was finally here for them to love and hold.

“Judeikas,” Tatiana said, kissing the baby’s forehead.

“Can his middle name be Edmund? It’s my Uncle’s name. He’d be so happy,” Syd said.

“Judeikas Edmund Tibbits,” Tatiana said, smiling at the little baby.

“Daddy, why is mommy crying?” Jude asked, looking up at his father.

Syd lifted Jude into his arms. “Jude…” He hesitated, wondering how to tell the small boy that his grandfather was dead. “Jude, grandpa is gone.”

“Gone?” Jude cocked his head to the side.

Syd swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded. “Gone. He’s, uh, not coming back. Mommy and grandma miss him very much. They’re going to be very sad.”

                “Down!” Jude commanded.

Syd set him down on the ground and Jude wandered over to where his grandma was sitting, her hands buried in her face. He reached out, tugging on her pant leg.

“Jude,” she said, wiping at her eyes.

He hugged her, putting his arms around her as far as he could. “Don’t be sad! Daddy said grandpa is gone but I’ll love you since he can’t anymore!”

Tears welled in her eyes and she lifted the little boy into her lap, hugging him tightly, stroking his hair. “You’re so precious. I love you Jude,” she whispered. She had several grandchildren, and knew she shouldn’t pick favorites, but in that moment, Judeikas became her favorite.

                                                                                                ***

Jude doodled on his paper, sitting alone. He didn’t like the other kids in his class. They all annoyed him.

                “Hey!”

He glanced up. “What?” he asked politely, since the teacher was sitting near him.

“Can I borrow your crayons?” the boy in front of him asked.

                Jude nodded. “Sure!”

The boy sat down and grabbed a crayon, also beginning to doodle. “I’m Nate.”

                “I’m Jude,” Jude said.

“You always sit alone,” Nate said.

“I don’t like the other kids,” Jude mumbled.

“They’re kinda dumb,” Nate said, and Jude giggled.

“Yea, they are,” he agreed with a nod, deciding he liked this kid. “You’re not. Wanna be friends?”

“Sure,” Nate said with a smile.

                                                                                                ***

“Judeikas, listen to me!” Tatiana snapped, grabbing his arm and spinning him around.

He pushed her off. “I don’t have to!”

She grabbed his arm again and slapped him. She turned to Syd, who was watching anxiously.

“Do you see this? This is why you can’t spoil him! He’s a little boy and he’s already a brat!” she yelled angrily. “Judeikas, you need to do better in school! We’re going to sit with you from now on until all your work is done and you’re done studying!”

“I tried my hardest!” Jude cried.

“You need to try harder!” Tatiana said. She released his and rubbed her temples. “Go to your room. I don’t want to hear a word out of you for the rest of the night, understand? Starting tomorrow, you’re going to work your butt off in school.”

Jude turned and hurried upstairs, shutting his bedroom door. He collapsed on his bed and screamed into his pillow, feeling filled with infinite anger and frustration.

“I really am trying my hardest,” he choked out, his eyes watering. He gripped his hair tightly, trying to fight off his tears. “I’m trying!”

He began to scream into his pillow again. He realized that he needed to find some way to get rid of this stress before he exploded.

                                                                                                ***

                “Jude! Nate!”

Jude and Nate groaned and spun around to face the ever obnoxious Marcus. No one in the class liked the annoying boy, and he always clung to Jude and Nat.

“Look! I got new Pokemon cards!” he said, waving them in Jude’s face.

Jude smacked his hand away. “I don’t care,” he said, crossing his arms.

“Ours are better,” Nate said, watching Jude and also crossing his arms.

Marcus reached out and gripped Jude’s arm. “But look at mine!”

Jude shoved him roughly, and Marcus fell down. On impulse, Jude reached out and snatched the cards away from Marcus, tearing each one in half and dropping the torn pieces onto him.

Marcus’s eyes watered, but Jude barely noticed. He felt better. He felt relieved to get a little anger out.

“Crybaby,” Jude said to Marcus, grabbing Nate’s hand and dragging him away and over to the playground where the other kids were.

“Jude, we’re going to get in trouble,” Nate said anxiously.

“No we’re not,” Jude said, shaking his head, an idea hitting him. He grabbed Nate’s hand again and pulled him back to where Marcus was gathering the torn pieces. He snatched the cards away from Marcus and smirked before releasing Nate’s hand.

“Play along,” he whispered before running over to their teacher. “Mr. Mortiz!”

“What’s wrong, Jude?” Mr. Mortiz asked with a frown.

“Marcus tore my Pokemon cards!” Jude cried, holding the cards out. “I was trying to show them to him and he tore them up!”

“No I didn’t! He’s lying! Those are mine! Jude tore them!” Marcus said, his eyes watering as he hurried over. “He’s a liar!”

“Marcus, Jude Tibbits has never lied before!” Mr. Mortiz said in shock. “Now, we’ll settle this after recess, okay? Marcus, come with me.”

Jude grinned as the teacher led the annoying boy away. He tossed the cards into the garbage can and went back over to Nate.

“Told you I’d handle it!” he said, sticking his tongue out.

“That was smart!” Nate said in admiration.

“I’m smart,” Jude said smugly, realizing he’d just found his way to stress relief.

                                                                                                ***

Jude sat on the swings, gripping his test paper tightly. He had failed, and his mom was going to kill him.

                “Ethan!”

He looked over as the scrawny kid from his class scampered over to the teacher. There was a woman standing next to the teacher who smiled and knelt down, hugging Ethan tightly and handing him a lunch bag. She kissed him and stood back up.

“Next time don’t forget your lunch! I love you Ethan. Have a good day at school,” she said, ruffling his hair.

“Bye mommy!” Ethan said, hugging her again and watching her longingly as the teacher walked her back inside.

Jude gripped his paper tightly, wishing his mom was always that nice. He loved his mom, and she loved him, but she wasn’t always so open and loving like that.

He dropped his head, trying not to focus on the failed test in his hands. After a few minutes, he heard a soft whimper and looked up.

Two boys were shoving Ethan around. Ethan whimpered again, tears in his eyes. Jude rolled his eyes, not in the mood to listen to the scrawny boy cry.

He stood up and went over to the three. “Leave him alone,” he said, his eyes daring the other two to challenge him.

The two boys eyed Jude before shrugging and walking back towards the playground. Ethan stared up at Jude in wonder.

                “Thank you,” he whispered.

Jude turned around. “I just didn’t want to hear you cry.”

Ethan stood up and grabbed Jude’s hand before he could walk away. “Wait! You don’t have to be a jerk to everyone!”

Jude spun around and shoved the little boy to the ground roughly, picturing him with his loving mom. He didn’t understand. He never could.

“Shut up! You’re pathetic!” Jude said angrily, storming away from Ethan as Ethan’s eyes watered again, deciding that he really didn’t like the annoying, scrawny loser.

“Jude, do you want anymore lemonade?” his grandma offered.

Jude shook his head, looking at his half full glass of lemonade. He picked it up and took a few sips of it.

“So,” his grandma said with a smile, sitting down. “Another round of cards?”

“Yes,” Jude said with a nod. He knew he was her favorite grandchild. He spent a lot of his time at her house, since it was a nice escape from the stress at his house.

His grandma dealt out the cards, smiling warmly at Jude as he picked them up. She laid down a card and nodded at him to make his move.

“So Jude, do you have your eyes on any girls?” she asked after a few minutes of comfortable silence.

Jude mentally sighed, since he’d already told his parents. His father had been very supportive, and even his mother had assured him that she was okay with it.

“Grandma, I don’t like girls. I’m gay,” Jude said, eyeing his cards and trying to decide his next move.

But at the silence that met him, he glanced up and furrowed his brow. His grandma was staring at him in utter shock.

“What? Jude, that’s not funny! Don’t joke like that!” she snapped.

“I’m not joking,” Jude said calmly.

                “You’re really gay?” she whispered.

Jude nodded. “Yes, I am. I already told my mom and dad,” he said, keeping his expression calm despite his increased heartbeat.

                “Get out,” his grandma said.

“What?” he asked, unable to hide all of the surprise he felt.

“Get out! I refuse to love a faggot!” she snapped.

Jude stood up slowly, staring at her, waiting for that warm smile she had given him just a moment ago. But there was cold, brutal hatred in her eyes as she regarded him.

                “I can’t believe you’re a faggot, Judeikas,” she hissed.

“What a shame. Wish I could say I was sad about this,” he said, smirking. “See you later, grandma.”

“Don’t bother coming around here until you’re right in the head, you sick freak!” she yelled, heartbroken that he was a faggot.

Jude left her house and made sure to walk at a calm, even pace until he was out of sight. He hid himself behind a cluster of bushes and pulled his knees up to his chest.

“I knew not everyone would accept me,” he reminded himself, his eyes watering. He wiped at them hastily. “I don’t need that stupid bitch.”

He buried his face against his knees, allowing himself to cry out his pain now. Because once he left these bushes, he would go back to pretending he couldn’t care less until he really couldn’t care less.

                                                                                                ***

Jude leaned against the bleachers, waiting for Nate. Nate had said he needed to shower after practice, but he was taking forever.

Jude pushed himself off the bleachers impatiently and pulled out his phone, bringing up Jude’s number and beginning to text him. He started walking towards his car, deciding to just meet Nate there.

Someone hit his shoulder and he staggered a little. A warm hand landed on his arm, steadying him.

He looked up and his breath caught in his throat. Gideon Marchesane offered him an apologetic smile.

                “Sorry about that,” he said.

“It’s perfectly fine,” Jude said, recovering his composure and offering Gideon an easy smile. The boy was beautiful, and his personality was oblivious yet charming.

“You’re Nate’s friend, right? I always see you at the games,” Gideon said.

Jude nodded. “I’m Jude. You’re Gideon, right? Nate’s mentioned you before.”

Gideon nodded with a smile. “Yea, I’m Gideon! Gideon Marchesane. It’s nice to finally meet you.”

“Do you know where Nate is?” Jude asked.

“Nate was talking to coach after practice, so he might be a while. I can sit with you while you wait, if you want. I have to wait for my best friend to finish talking to coach too,” Gideon offered.

Jude nodded, the smile coming back. It was an honest smile. “Yea, sure, I’d like that. Thanks.”

The two walked over to the bleachers together, talking easily. Jude was pleased at just how easily they were getting along. His heart stuttered every time Gideon would smile at him, and he realized that he was falling more for this boy than ever before.

I want to be the reason he smiles. I want to make him happy. I want to date him, he thought as they continued to talk. He smiled wider as Gideon laughed, deciding that someday he’d date Gideon and make sure that he was always smiling and laughing.
