I got most of my inspiration for this from Summer Wars. I hope it's okay!

"Um, Y/N, can I talk to you." A boy from your class asked.

"Yeah sure what's up?" The boy glanced at Zihao, who was standing beside you, but spoke nonetheless.

"I was wondering if, maybe, you'd like to go out with me?" The boy kept his head up, despite his face being red. You turned your head to Zihao, with wide eyes. You moved your eye brows, as if trying to communicate with him him without words. He gave you a knowing nod and faced the boy.

"Hate to break it to you pal, but she's spoken for." He gestured to himself. You nodded.

"Oh shit, I'm so sorry." He bowed to the both of you and took off, embarrassed. This wasn't the first time you and Zihao had pretended to be a couple to avoid awkward situations such as the one that just passed. Someone asked you to hang out and you didn't wanna go? 'Sorry I'm going on a date with my boyfriend.' 'Oh, who's your boyfriend?' 'Uh, Zihao! Yes Zihao.' Honestly the two of you had everyone fooled. You both didn't mind the 'fake dating' it got you out of things you didn't want to do and it was great.

"What?"

"Well I was thinking, you could bring your boyfriend on the trip with us!" You mother smiled at you.

"How did you know I have a boyfriend?"

"Oh please Y/N, I'm not dumb. I do hear things from the school."

"I'm not sure he'd want to go." Of course Zihao and you were friends, by going to visit your grandmother with the rest of your family for a few days felt a little too much like a couple thing to do.

"Well call him!" You sighed. Your mother was persistent and probably wouldn't let this go. You pulled out your phone and walked away from your mother as to talk in private.

"Hey Y/N, what's up."

"My mother knows."

"What?"

"She knows about us fake dating! Only she doesn't know its fake." 

"Woah, how did that happen?" 

"I don't know but she wants you to come, as my boyfriend, to visit my grandmother. " 

"Ooh, you know that one movie we watched? Summer Wars? This is exactly like it." He laughed for the other end of the phone. "Maybe we'll fall in love like Kenji and Natsuki." 

"Ew don't ever say that. I guess it might be fun having you with me. Just remember to act like you're madly in love with me."

"I don't have to act Babes."

"Yeah yeah, just like that. Well I gotta go, I'll text you the details for everything okay?"

"Yeah okay."

"Bye Zi!"

"Bye Y/N!"

"Wow, this place is beautiful." Zihao looked around in amazement at the sight that was your grandmothers home. [I'm really shit at describing things and I don't think I'll capture the vibe I want so, just imagine it looks something like this:]

"I know right! I used to always love to come here when I was little. We'd stay for a long time, like we are now, since its so far away, I never minded though." You looked around, the memories of the euphoric place flooding back to you. "It's been so long since I've last been here." You said quietly, more to yourself than anyone else.

"Well I'm glad I get to be here with you Sugar." He laughed and put an arm around you and you recoiled back.

"Bro my family's not here, you don't need to be all flirty."

"Well maybe I want to be flirty when your family's not around. Ever think about that huh?" You rolled your eyes.

"Why bother?" Zihao got much closer to you and placed a hand under your chin.

"Because I love you Y/N." Your heart fluttered.

"O-Okay you don't need to pretend when no ones around."

"I'm not pretending." He smirked and leaned in pecked your lips. "I don't know if I want to fake date you anymore."

"W-What do you mean?"

"Y/N, all the flirting, all the fake dates we had to go on so people actually thought we were together, everyone saying we'd make a great couple. Please, it's been to much for me and I don't think I can pretend anymore." He took your face in his hands. "I think I love you, for real this time."
