I have lived all but a happy life; drowning in the dregs of my sorrow. My misery will reign in everlasting glory. The darkness will seep in, shredding my life into tiny pieces and staining it all ink black.

Atlas James Black was not born to be ordinary. The blood of stars flowed in his veins, for he was the pureblood heir to the noble house of Black. But when the stars fall and the sparks run dry, he is left with nothing but the everlasting, foreboding darkness. This is the darkness that robs you of your sense and pride, stealing away every last drop of happiness and leaving you paralysed with fear.

But the lack of light became normal, darkness was everyday, it was every second. It was there in his every moment, flooding him until he bled black. His world became etched in charcoal so much that it became comforting. The dark was his protection - the blanket of warmth that covered him from the delirious monster of crushed dreams and false hope. It covered him from the unwanted truth - the truth and reality of his life that was so incredibly dysfunctional.

Atlas was only a year old when his father was sentenced to life in Azkaban for the careless murder of not only thirteen muggles, but the murder of his two best friends, Lily and James Potter. Thirteen lives that he took without even a hint of hesitation. And it was then, when Atlas realised that he was completely and utterly alone in the world. His mother was dead, most likely by the hands of his father too and that was when he was snatched away and thrown into multiple houses because in the end, nobody wanted to deal with Atlas Black and all the baggage that he came with.

And so Atlas became the dark. He welcomed it with opened arms, greeting it like they were old friends and it swallowed him whole, consuming his every thought and action. But when the moon fell in love with the sun, all was golden in the sky, all was golden when the day met the night.
And Oh did Atlas fall hard.
