Jimin lazily stirs his drink with his straw, occasionally glancing at the menu in front of him as the couple across chatters away. He pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose before clearing his throat, failing to capture their attention.
He tries again, this time Uma notices. "Look, I love both of you so please don't take this the wrong way but...this sucks."
Uma pushes a springy curl from her face before smiling fondly at the man. "Ah, come on Chim who says the three of us can't have fun?"
"Yeah," Hoseok finally joins, throwing a arm around Uma, "we're all friends here anyways."
Uma's expression falls and she slowly wriggles out of the man's hold. "Y-yeah, and how long has it been since you've been out besides Hoseok's birthday festivities." Jimin purses his lips before quietly taking a sip of his Coke. "Chim, you need to let loose and trust me I'm the person who can help you. I helped Y/N and now I'll help you."
Hoseok arches a brow at both the lack of nickname Uma usually uses and what she could possibly mean by her statement.
Jimin sighs, "you didn't help Y/N. You let her go on a date with Satan's most promiscuous demon. I love the guy, but I would never send a girl his way."
"Ah boys," Uma tuts, "you weren't paying very good attention at the party. Even the smartest of your kind are still the stupidest."
"What do you mean?" Hoseok asks, trying to sneakily drape his arm around her shoulders once again.
"You know how Taehyung usually has fuck me eyes for every girl he sees and puts up that stupid male bravado. I didn't see that when he looked at Y/N, he even stuttered when he tried to talk to her." Uma grows an amused smile at the boys' attentive looks, "plus she told me he got on one knee to ask her out."
"Yeah right," Hoseok finally gives up and drops his arm.
"Kim Taehyung? He'd never do that, he has too much pride." Jimin pipes.
"I trust my girl," Uma shrugs, taking a sip of her iced tea, "my Honey never lies."
"Great, even the demon's found love before me," Jimin slumps back into the booth.
"Babe, you just gotta be more open. I know you told me about that boy who broke your heart your freshman year but you need to understand that not everyone is going to treat you the same." She places her hand on top of his, "always be receptive."
He slowly nods and Hoseok claps. "Isn't she amazing? Aren't you happy you thirdwheeled with us now!"
"So now we're not just friends," she mutters to herself.
"Huh?"
"I mean, look Yoongi's coming to take our order."
Yoongi's silver locks bounce as he approaches the table of three, careful not to make any contact with Jimin. He wasn't used to feeling so powerless in the presence of a man. Maybe it was the man's big eyes or his perfectly symmetrical face that looked like it was handcrafted by Greek gods, heavily contrasting his rosy cheeks and full lips. It's not like he wasn't used to picking up men younger than him either, he just wasn't used to any so handsome. At least any he saw as handsomer than him.
Which is why when Uma informed him of the man's sexuality, it was like music to his ears.
"Hey guys, ready to order?" He gulps.
"Ah how fitting, we were just talking about demons," Uma smiles.
"Haha, you're lucky I'm at work and your boy toy is here Uma," he points his pen at redhead and the corners of Hoseok's lips twitch up.
"He's just my friend," she says dismissively. He frowns and Uma crosses her arms when he doesn't object.
The atmosphere of the table now completely juxtaposes that of the lively restaurant and Yoongi cannot yelp but tut after the three tell him their orders with a glum face.
"Ah, you two go play pool or something and make up I'm tired of seeing your sad faces," he points at the couple who are facing opposite directions with their arms crossed, strongly resembling two toddlers. Uma's lips part to retort, but Yoongi sends her a warning gaze and to her dismay she stops herself. She feels a slight nudge on her bare thigh, and is surprised when it is Hoseok trying to scoot her out of their shared booth, most likely to do exactly what Yoongi insisted.
Like a tamed passive aggressive lion, she reluctantly grabs her clutch and marches towards the back of the restaurant where the games are located, the action making it difficult for Hoseok to try and suppress a smile as he trails after her. Just as he is about to punch in their order, Yoongi notices the quiet blonde with his perfect chin resting on the table top, his eyes carefully watching the carbonated bubbles in his soda fizz to the top from behind his round spectacles.
Maybe it was how cute his cheeks looked puffed out or the way his eyebrows knit due to the amount of concentration on his face, but Yoongi could not bring himself to leave.
He clears his throat, "aren't you gonna join them?"
Jimin hums, tearing his eyes away from his glass to scan the now empty booth before shaking his head. "I'm not really in the mood."
"Not really into being a third wheel, huh?"
"No," he sighs, "you can only be around a couple for so long before they turn into a reminder that you're still single, you know?"
"Tell me about it," Yoongi drums his notepad with his pen, desperately searching for any hint of interest in the man's tone. "Why are you single, if you don't mind me asking?"
Jimin finally tears his eyes away from the mesmerizing drink to meet Yoongi's dark ones, only then realizing who he is talking to. A man. A handsome man.
"W-what do you mean?"
Yoongi smirks, pleased that he is finally able to get a reaction out of the man, which is all it took to turn his confidence on. "I mean, look at you. You're hot, you look like you should be on the cover of Vogue or something."
Jimin blushes hard. "Me?" His voice is soft, Yoongi barely catches his words, "y-you're the one who should be. What are you doing at a place like this?"
"Oh this," he glances around the restaurant, "this is just a side job until my music kicks off. But I guess, it's a pretty good spot to try and find Mr. Right." He winks, trying to fight the urge to pinch the cheeks of the sheepish man.
"I hope you find him." Jimin averts his eyes, only allowing himself to see Yoongi in his peripheral.
Knowing it's affect, Yoongi rakes a hand through his silver locks before lightly tracing Jimin's small hand, causing both to lock eyes. "I hope I do too."
He walks off, ignoring the alarming rate of his heart, leaving an enthralled Jimin watching his back until he disappears around a corner. After scurrying out of the booth, he hastily speed walks toward the back of the restaurant where Uma is scrutinizing an already nervous Hoseok attempt to figure out a way to hit the white ball in a way that it looks like he tried but not enough to beat her.
"Uma, Uma," Jimin pants, distracting the woman enough for Hoseok to make his move.
"Yeah?"
"Who's your friend?" The two exchange a knowing smile.

"Taehyung!" You shout, failing to capture the attention of the focused man already purchasing another three baseballs. "You've already spent $50 here, there's other games."
"You said you wanted that giant panda," he tosses a ball in his hand, preparing to aim at the three milk bottles stacked on top of each other. "I'll get you that panda."
You huff, slightly annoyed at the man's stubbornness but also flattered that he is willing to go to such a length. He sticks his finger into his mouth before holding it in the air to check the wind for what seems like the millionth time, yet you can't help but laugh every time.
He launches the first baseball, successfully knocking off the first bottle, a fact you try to make known as encouragement but he gives you a sad look, similar to a that of a wounded puppy so you stop.
It is no surprise that the next two throws are as unsuccessful as the first and just as Taehyung is about to reach in for his wallet, you catch his wrist.
"That's enough, dummy. Let's go, I don't even like pandas that much." You try to yank his wrist but he pouts. A tap on your shoulder makes you whirl your head around and your eyes meet the artificial beaded ones of a small panda plush. You squeal and snatch it from the worker's hands, eagerly hugging it.
"You spent way too much money on this game man, it's the least I can do." Taehyung's brow furrows at the worker's words and he is tempted to slap the teasing smirk off of his face, until he catches sight of your bright smile. Wrapping an arm around your waist, he leads you away from the impossible game, only nodding his head as a thank you.
"So, what next?" He asks, eyes still soft as he watches you squeeze the panda tightly.
"How about that?" You point at the basketball hoops, "something we can both play." He rolls his eyes at the word you emphasize and walks over.
After a few games and couple cute tantrums thrown by both Taehyung and you, you are completely famished.
"Let's eat, let's eat, let's eattttt," you whine, pulling on the sleeve of Taehyung's hoodie.
"Okay, okay," he chuckles, "what do you want?"
"Stop, right there." You catch his wrist going for his wallet again. "You've paid for every game, at least let me pay for the food." The smell of popcorn, funnel cake, and hotdogs has taunted your nostrils since the second you both walked into the carnival and you honestly did not know how much longer you could resist indulging in any of it.
"No way. Would a boyfriend, let you pay?"
"Well, you're not my boyfriend so you don't have to worry."
"Yettt," he sings and you roll your eyes as you both approach the window of the food truck.
"Hello, two hotdogs and a funnel cake please."
After collecting your order, you both settle at a table nearby the petting zoo where you find yourself giggling at the sight of how different some children interact with the animals. Taehyung would have noticed, but if there was one thing that could distract him from you it was the adorable combination of the two. A small girl with pigtails tightly hugs a miniature goat and your eyes soften, your lips part to react but to your surprise Taehyung beats you to it.
"Aww, so cute," he lets out before munching the last bite of his hotdog.
Turning your head to meet his relaxed face, you narrow your eyes and dare ask, "you like kids?"
He catches the confusion in your tone, and turns his head, smiling at the sight of your surprised face. "Is it so surprising?"
"Kinda."
He laughs. "I love them. They're so innocent, all they care about is having fun. They don't worry about the future or bills or anything. Don't you miss when life was that simple?"
Pondering the question a bit, you direct your attention back to the little girl now hand feeding the goat some food while laughing. "Yeah, I do."
Taehyung did not love kids because of this. The reality of his statement was that when he saw them, they reflected what he wished he could have experienced. He cannot even seem to remember a single memory from his childhood where he wasn't either filled with fear in the presence of his father or sulking over the absence of his mother. In fact, it wasn't until Jungkook moved there from Busan in the sixth grade and sat next to him, did he have an actual friend. It was after meeting the friendly boy with the bunny smile that he realized he had missed out on his entire childhood, and as soon as he realized this, the mischievous boy he is today was born.
It makes him happy that kids can still enjoy their childhoods.
"Is that why you brought me to a carnival? You like to relive your childhood?"
"That, andddd," he takes an obnoxiously large bite of funnel cake, "carnivals are fucking fun." You slide the plate more to your side and guard it with your arm, making him chuckle. "What about you why do you like kids?"
"Nothing as deep as that. I just think they're cute, I was looking more at the animals if anything."
He hums in response and you both fall into a peaceful silence, the sounds of distant screams and arcade buzzers filling your ears. Suddenly you realize the distant screams, no longer sound so distant and you look up just to be met with the sight of a track not too far away. The roar of the car approaching disrupts the atmosphere, and even people passing-by stop to watch the roller coaster whizz by. Despite the horrid noise, your face brightens up at the sight of it.
"No."
You look back at Taehyung, your eyebrows knit as he disinterestedly pokes at your funnel cake. "Come onnn, it will be fun."
"I hate roller coasters." He pops a bite into his mouth and slowly chews, still averting eye contact with you.
"Don't be such a downer. Come on, it's our first date. Let's make a memory," you plead.
"Trust me, baby. I know a way more fun ride that you would remember much better." You blush at the smirk and teasing words spilling from his enticing lips, but shake your head as an attempt to keep your composure.
"A boyfriend would do it." You grin when his smirk falters and he begins to stand up, heavily sighing.
Which is how you two ended up in the last car of the already wonky-looking rollercoaster that slightly reminded you of Final Destination 3 but you refrain from sharing that observation with a terrified Taehyung who is practically shaking in the seat next to you. You can hear his teeth chattering out of nervousness, and when you go to hold his hand you instantly regret it as he unknowingly transfers his clamminess to yours. It was something about the way the natural coolness of his features was completely abandoned and replaced with a look equivalent to that of a lost puppy that made you question whether the seemingly harmless push to get on the ride was a mistake.
"Hey, are you sure you're okay? We can get off-"
Two workers simultaneously slam down the bar on either side of your cart, locking you in and you watch as Taehyung's eyes begin to look glassy.
"It-it's okay. Everything is okay," he replies, more directly toward himself. Ignoring your own uneasiness, you clutch the bar and take a deep breath, trying to concentrate on the head of the person in front of you instead of what lies ahead. The truth is you were just as terrified, if not more. You thought roller coasters were fun from a distance but once you were actually strapped in, you secretly hoped it would break down just before you took off. But you could not show Taehyung your own fear,
for some reason you felt you had to be strong for him.
The car begins to move at an agonizingly slow speed and you and Taehyung simultaneously gasp. It chugs up the track, leading up to the oh so suspenseful and cliche drop. Taehyung directs his attention up to the sky, internally praying to God to allow him to switch lives with someone else at the moment to avoid enduring the hellish experience. Expecting a smile of reassurance which ironically would make him feel worse, he is surprised when he sees your tightly squeezed eyes and hears your short breaths.
It's cute.
He doesn't even realize he's slipping his hand into yours until your eyes blink open and stare at your now intertwined fingers.
Your lips part and he tenses as he braces himself for your words but suddenly he feels his heart in his throat and his blood running cold as the car drops. Unconsciously, he lets out a high pitched scream, loud enough to break the glass bottles he was trying to hit earlier. The entertaining sight of a horrified Taehyung accompanied with his hilarious screams is enough to distract you for the rest of the ride, and you fail to even notice the flash of a photo being taken until it is over.
With wobbly legs, he balances himself and drapes a heavy arm around your shoulder as he walks down the steps to the tent displaying the photos. The second your eyes land on it, you giggle and Taehyung simply stares at it, not being able to hide the way the corners of his mouth slightly curl.
"This is so funny!" You pipe and Taehyung buries his face in his hands before quickly walking away. You continue to stare at the screen, Taehyung's mouth wide open as he screams, eyes squeezed shut, one hand gripping his baseball cap tightly and the other...well the other still squeezing your hand. The feeling of his arm around you returns and he huffs in annoyance.
"Why are you still staring at it?" He scolds you and you slightly nuzzle into him.
"It's so funny, Taehyung. I have to buy it!" You start towards the counter but he quickly catches your arm.
"These are too overpriced. Just forget about it, let's go, I think I'm gonna throw up," he feigns fainting and you barely catch him before you both make your way to the exit.
The car ride home consists of you both exchanging highlights of the night.
"I can't believe you spent so much money on that dumb game," you laugh and he smiles.
"Call it dumb all you want but I see how you hug that little panda and that's all the reassurance I need that my money was well spent."
"Yeah, yeah. For someone who talks a lot of game I can't believe you could only handle one ride."
"Carnival rides should not be trusted," he says sickly, pretending to retch and you lightly smack him with the stuffed animal.
"Ah, but I can't believe you wouldn't let me buy that photo. It was truly the best thing I've ever seen." You sink into your seat, your eyes glazing over your home as he pulls into your driveway.
"I couldn't let you buy it," you hear him unzip his jacket and look to his seat, "so I bought it..." your eyes light up, "for me."
"For you?" You question.
"Well, as soon as I saw that picture, I knew you couldn't have it because well...you're you and I wouldn't hear the end of how stupid I look." You grin and he rolls his eyes. "But look," he points at you, "I had to have it. This is the most beautiful smile I've ever seen in my entire life, and it's directed towards yours truly." He smirks as you take a closer look.
You were too entranced by Taehyung to even notice that you were smiling like an idiot while staring right at him in the picture.
"So..." he continues, "as much as I hate this, I would like to keep it. As a boost to my ego," you smack him again and he chuckles. "andddd, as proof that I, Kim Taehyung, was able to make the gorgeous Y/N flash her even more gorgeous smile for more than the millisecond that she usually does."
Your heart feels like it has swelled up at the sweet words and you find yourself searching in your memories for a time when your skin crawled at even the mention of Taehyung. It is by far the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to you, even without ignoring the subtle jabs at you. The stupid smile seems to return to your lips and Taehyung takes your cheeks in his hand.
"Am I still an asshole?" He asks, his eyes bouncing back and forth from your eyes to your lips.
"Yes," you whisper, your eyes solely trapped on his lips.
Even Taehyung does not understand why his heart thumps so fast, he knows how to kiss a girl, he has done it countless times, yet even his first time does not match the intensity he feels with your face this close to his.
"Would I still be an asshole if I kissed you?" He prays you do not think it's lame that he asked.
"N-"
Usain Bolt could not have kissed you faster. He cups your face in his large hand and bring you more towards him as his lips perfectly mold into yours. And you are just as quick to kiss back, your heart feeling as if it were on fire. It's sweet and subtly passionate, completely contradicting the lewd thoughts running through his mind and quickly catching up with his dick as he begins to feel a bulge. He curses you for making him feel as if he was in high school again, and is thankful when you are the first to break away.
"Thanks for the date, Taehyung." You smile, "I'm surprised I actually had fun."
"Are you really, though?"
"What did I expect," you drag your lip between your teeth and his eyes widen. "Good night."
His mind flashes to Jungkook's words and Jungkook's bet. You were nothing short of enticing, infatuating, yet the thought of sex hardly crossed his mind during your date because he was too busy having fun with you. You were a walking tease, and it was not fair in the least. But he knew you knew about him, his reputation. He could not believe he was about to watch you to walk away tonight without even attempting to make a single move.
He could do it. He would do it.
For you.
"Good night, Y/N."
