Your night consisted of following Yoongi around almost the entire time and begging him to take your Saturday shift.

"No, Honey, I can't," he would say, "I don't want to work on Saturday."

"Come on," you would beg, "what if I get somebody to go and make your night worth staying?"

"Like who?" He would snort.

"Uma?"

"That bitch is practically wrapped around Hoseok's finger, next."

"What about Taehyung's friend? Baby face. I saw how you looked at him at the party."

"Deal."

And after begging Uma to go to the restaurant with Hoseok and Jimin and begging Taehyung to convince Jimin to third wheel Hoseok and Uma, everything was nicely situated.

"You look excited," Uma narrows her eyes at you from her conveniently placed spot in front of your vanity mirror from your phone screen as you both simultaneously get ready.

Breaking out into a giddy smile, you nod your head a bit before curling your eyelashes.

"That what you're wearing?" She motions toward the black high waisted jeans and olive green long sleeved crop top laying on top of your bed. You could sense the disapproval in her tone and you sheepishly smile.

"I want to show him me," you tussle your hair a bit, "all he's seen so far is work me and party me and business casual me. But tonight it's going to be just me. Casual me."

"I wish I had a dollar for every time you just said me." She says before turning on her blow dryer, making you chuckle.

"Besides," you add, further trying to justify yourself, "it's just a carnival date. Maybe if it were a fancy restaurant or something I would go all out."

"I guess your right," she swipes a bold maroon color across her plump lips, "it's not like he's going in a tux."

"Exactly."

"So do you think you're gonna get laid?"

"I would love to, but I don't think I have it in me."

"Whatttt," she chuckles at your solemn response, "this coming from the girl who did her boss at her twentieth birthday party."

"That was a long time ago," you laugh, "and he wasn't my boss back then."

"Mhmm, well I gotta run, Hobi just texted he'll be here in 5-"

"Hobi hmm," you interrupt to wiggle your eyebrows at her.

You manage to catch a blush at the comment and a satisfied smile plays on your lips.

"Shut up," she grumbles, "anyways, tell me everything tomorrow and don't worry, I'll keep an eye on Yoongi. Love ya."

After ending the call, you decide to reevaluate your outfit. Maybe it is too casual for a first date. Well that is your nicest long sleeve. And those are your sexy jeans. If sexy jeans are even a thing.

Of course they are a thing.

You wiggle into said sexy jeans just to make sure and admire your now accentuated figure in the mirror. You slip on the long sleeve, also accentuating your upper body, making it appear slimmer than it actually is. Pulling on some boots and a denim jacket that is way too large for you, you feel you look complete. Before giving you the time to decide whether you look basic or not, your phone chimes.

Taehyung:
Be there in like 2min, pretty tutor :)

You roll your eyes at the nickname before sending an okay. Deciding it would be best for you to wait in the living room, you stroll down the hall but immediately halt at the sound.

Or more like sounds.

Your father in his wheelchair grunts as he swings a Wii remote back and forth next to an overly enthusiastic Juni who does the same. Only your father would make Juni dig up the old console to play WiiSports on a Saturday night, and only Juni would be happy enough to do it. For a minute you just stand there, watching them and just like any other interaction of theirs it makes your heart warm. That is, until Juni loses 40-0.

"HOW DID I LOSE TO A MAN IN A WHEELCHAIR." Juni pants, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead as your father maliciously laughs.

"Bet I could outrun ya too, Jun," he snickers and Juni purses his lips in annoyance.

"Let's play soccer outside then, old man," Juni grips the handles of the wheelchair and stares into his father's teasing eyes. When he shows no emotion besides amusement, Juni groans in defeat.

"Alright new game," he says, but not before grabbing the handles on the back of the wheelchair and spinning them around so your father is now facing the wall. "Let's see how many points I can score in the time it takes you to turn back around."

"HONEY HELP ME!" Your father pleads, finally spotting you silently observing in the hallway, and you can't fight your giggle as you make your way over to flip him around.

You almost forget about Taehyung until you hear the doorbell ring. And then you remember why you came out so silently in the first place.

It's not that you were embarrassed of your family because you 100% weren't. However, over the years you have noticed how the sight of your father sometimes did not sit well with people. It was as if seeing him roll around in a wheelchair was some sort of physical symbol of life to the public, or more like the worst of life. You accepted people's heartfelt words and knew that they meant nothing by the I'm so sorry's but one could only stand the pity for so long.

Your father was just a part of your life that you were not willing to share with just anyone.

The doorbell rings again, snapping you out of it.

"HONEY WILL YOU GET THAT," Juni yells, tactically flicking his wrist in another tennis match.

You gulp as you approach the door, the nervousness of your first date with Taehyung and the nervousness of him witnessing your dysfunctional family in its rawest form combining.

You peek through the peephole and you melt at the sight. A baseball cap sits perfectly on his head and he sports an even more perfect outfit of a black jacket and jeans. He's now sitting on the steps that lead to your house and your eyebrows raise in hope that he won't see what is happening inside and will give you enough time to slip out.

But why would the universe ever be in your favor?

As soon as you twist the knob, Taehyung jumps up from his spot at the sound, giving off the illusion of attentiveness. He rushes back to his earlier position in front of the door and unknowingly shoves a bouquet of pink roses in your face, making you stumble back.

His cheeks flush and he recoils regretfully. "Oh shit, sorry. Didn't mean to do that." He attempts to present them more elegantly. "These are for you."

"Thank you!" Your eyes glaze over the gorgeous flowers then drift to Taehyung's eager ones tentatively watching for your expression.

"Um yeah so should we-"

"Yes!" You interrupt, "just um." You look back at your still distracted brother and father, "just give me a minute."

"Can I come inside?" He suddenly asks, both of your eyebrows jumping at the question.

"Honey who's at the-JUNI SPIN MY CHAIR BACK AROUND! HONEY!"

Taehyung's brows now knit together, especially when you drop your head in defeat and sigh. Avoiding his gaze, you open the door entirely revealing your whining father and overly competitive brother.

"Who's this?" Juni tilts his head, your father following. "Are you the pizza guy? Aw you guys give out a bouquet of roses with every pie we order?" Juni pauses the game and approaches the doorway, digging in his pocket for his wallet.

Taehyung lets out a nervous laugh, "no I'm not the pizza guy I'm-"

"This is Taehyung. My-," you hesitate, "my date. Taehyung this is my little brother, Juni, and my dad, Dan."

You notice how Taehyung tenses up when your father rolls towards the three of you and you feel like a deflated balloon. It was the exact reaction you anticipated yet you couldn't help but have a sliver of hope that Taehyung would be different.

Juni eyes the stiff man up and down and glances at you with a sorry smile, as if sharing the same thought. Internally you prepare for the long conversation about his accident, your mother's death, and your apologies for making him uncomfortable.

"How do you guys still have a Wii that works?"

You perk up at the question, more so because it isn't directed towards you. Usually people would greet your father and end the conversation at that, not being able to stand the awkwardness. Yet, here Taehyung is, willfully speaking to him.

"Well," your father slowly starts, as weary as you and your brother are of the action, "I made sure these little shits never put so much as a dent into it or the controllers, saved all the cables, and have never changed the T.V. in over ten years." He crosses his arm over his chest proudly and you roll your eyes.

Taehyung's mouth forms a rectangle smile at your father's answer and he sticks his hand out. "Dan was it? Pleasure to meet you."

Your father's lips curl approvingly and he returns the handshake with a firm grip.

"Nice to meet you too, Juni." Taehyung turns to your brother. "Cool jersey, me and my brother like the Clippers too, maybe not as much as the Celtics, though."

"Celtics?!" Juni scoffs, "if you ever walk into this house with that ugly green jersey on, we will have no choice but to fumigate it."

The thought of choking Juni out crosses your mind but you ultimately decide against it when you see them playfully laugh.

"Um, I'm gonna go put these in water really quick and then we'll leave okay?"

It seems no one hears your words as the three pay you no mind, entirely too immersed in their heated conversation about more basketball terms you don't understand. When you return you're surprised to see Taehyung now swinging a remote back and forth alongside Juni in a tennis match, your father cheering on Taehyung from behind.

You've never seen your father warm up to someone so fast, or more so you've never seen someone allow themselves to be warmed up to by your family at all. In the midst of recoiling his arm, Juni spots you watching and stops. "Honey, I can't believe this is asshole!"

Your breath hitches.

Yup, definitely killing Juni.

Taehyung whirls around, his eyes narrowing on you. "I'll remember that." His tone is anything but serious as he pretends to scold you.

"Okay, should we get going." You clap, and both your father and brother simultaneously whine.

"Dammit and it was almost my turn," your father pouts and Taehyung eyes soften at the knowledge of where your cute habits stem from. "It gets boring beating Juni all the time."

"Alright old man, we're playing Just Dance." Juni huffs, stomping towards the console as the rest of you chuckle.

"You kids have fun. And Taehyung," he motions for your date to lower down to whisper something to him, "take care of her. I've got a good feeling about you."

Taehyung doesn't understand why that makes his stomach fill with butterflies or the weird feeling that explodes in his chest. He looks down at your father's smile, not failing to notice the distinct similarities between his and yours and all he can do is give a curt nod at the endearing man. You're now waiting impatiently by the door, playfully scolding your father for holding him back and him laughing it off. Even though Juni acts a bit bratty, he feels the love your brother has for his old man, going as far as spending an entire Saturday night playing WiiSports with him.

Is this how it is supposed to be? Are fathers' children supposed to love them this much?

A shock brings Taehyung back to his senses, that's when he notices your touch is what is the cause.

"Are you okay? Let's get going?" You have such a caring heart and you don't even know him yet. Why do you act like this?

Taehyung simply blinks at you and you try to smile reassuringly, believing it is the sudden spring of your family dynamic that is what is overwhelming him.

Again, Taehyung simply nods, saying a final goodbye before exiting the house with you trailing closely behind. He quietly opens the passenger door of his Mercedes for you and you have to fight the urge to make a joke about his wealth when he quickly closes it.

Maybe you made a mistake. Maybe you should've just met him at his house. It was going to fast, he's already met your family and the first date hasn't even begun. You drop your face into your palms and groan, not even noticing the man next to you slip into his seat.

"I'm so sorry." Your voice comes out a bit muffled from your face's position in your hands, "I didn't mean to overwhelm you."

"You didn't overwhelm me." You spread your fingers to peek at him from the side. The moonlight gives his skin a pretty blue tint, as if he couldn't get more ethereal. He takes off his baseball cap to rake a hand through his hair, flipping it backwards before setting it on his head again. For a minute you two just sit there, you silently admiring him while he stares off into the street.

"Your family-" he starts but you groan again, interrupting him.

"I know I know. They're crazy and my dad especially sometimes he can't control his mouth, actually neither of them can and they're actually very sweet when you get to know them and I'm sorry I called you an asshole to my brother but to be fair at the party you were really acting like an asshole. And I know my dad's in a wheelchair and it might make you uncomfortable but-"

"They're so cool." Your mind goes blank.

"Cool?"

"Yeah," he smiles, "your dad is so funny and so easygoing. And Juni and him look like they get along so well." You remove your hands from your face, now staring at his side profile astonished. He licks his lips before facing you, "can I ask you something?"

You brace yourself for the bombardment of questions about your father's state.

"Why do they call you Honey?"

You exhale loudly, not even realizing you were holding such a deep breath before chuckling a bit. "That's kind of a long story-"

"We got time."

You catch a twinkle in his chocolate orbs as they meet yours. "Um well...a long time ago my mom used to make this really good cinnamon and ginger tea. My dad never liked tea, but he started because of her. He used to accuse her of putting crack in it because it tasted so good," you giggle a bit and his eyes soften. "Anyways, we all thought there was nothing she could do to make it any better. At least until curious little 6 year old me decided to squeeze a drop of honey into her mug. They loved it. She said it was the ingredient that truly completed her recipe just like how I completed her life." You check to see if Taehyung is still listening and are surprised when his eyes have never left your face. "Anyways, long story short, she started calling me honey and dad said it was because she believed I was the missing ingredient in everyone's lives. Dumb I know."

"It's cute." He shifts the gear and smirks at you, making you involuntarily blush. "Never would have pegged you for a softy. But after spending about twenty minutes with your family, I see where all of this aggression stems from."

You narrow your eyes and scoff. "Aggression?"

"Not aggression, I mean like toughness. It's really cute." Internally begging for him to stop calling you cute, you blush again. "I like it." He winks and you die.

"W-what about you? You seemed surprised to see us get along. Does Daddy not buy you enough cars for you to love him," you tease, pushing out your lower lip.

"Daddy doesn't see me or my brother as humans," he presses on the gas pedal, "he didn't even see my mom as one."

Tucking your lip back in between your teeth, you wish you could time travel to 2 minutes ago before you teased him. You definitely preferred cute Taehyung over angry Taehyung.

"Should we be sharing trauma on the first date?" He jokes and you exhale in relief that his goofy side is back.

"I think we should wait until at least the fifth date to do that."

"So there will be more dates?" He doesn't even have to face you for you to know that he is wiggling his eyebrows.

"Easy, Romeo. We haven't even started the first one."

He hums in response. The atmosphere returns to a peaceful silence, and you lean onto the window sill to watch the buildings whiz by. "Um.." he starts and your heart rate quickens. Will you ever get used to that deep voice?

"I um I forgot to tell you when I saw you but um..." Taehyung begs his mind to form a coherent sentence as your alluring eyes give him your attention, "you look very beautiful."

"Not pretty?" You say as an effort to conceal your giddiness at the compliment.

"I think you're always pretty. But I've never seen you like this," he nods at your comfy outfit, "and you look beautiful."

"So do you."

"Thank you?" He laughs at your awkward response and you can't decide whether to thank God for allowing you to have ears to hear the melodious sound or curse him for giving you the ability to speak to say the stupid comment.

"You're welcome." You shyly whisper and he laughs again.

"So cute."
