The Young mansion was just as much as an architectural marvel as the Kim one. Though, no one would dare say such a thing around Mr. Kim. Inspired by the Sistine Chapel, the 20 foot ribbed pillars in front provided just the elegant entrance Mrs. Young loved to gush over with her guests for parties such as this one.
And today, they serve as the perfect thing to hide behind for an anxious Taehyung. Jungkook is there too, keeping a small bit of distance upon his best friend's request to remain inconspicuous as both silently observe the expensive cars pull in. Women and men adorned in luxury brands and shoes that must cost more than the two boys' lives combined walk out and into the party. It does nothing to calm Jungkook down, the anticipation of seeing Sora again combined with seeing all of Taehyung's father's snob acquaintances is enough to have him steadying himself on the pillar.
"How do you feel?" Taehyung asks, observing Jungkook's white face in horror.
"Like my heart is in my throat. But it's fine," he answers sickly, a shaky breath escaping him, "I'm always nervous when it comes to Sora."
Taehyung nods, craning his head just bit to catch a peek of the guests continuing to roll in. The relentless tapping of his heeled dress shoe is enough to distract even Jungkook.
"How do you feel?"
"Me?" Taehyung chirps, his voice cracking before he clears his throat. "I'm fine."
Taehyung might as well have the word NERVOUS tattooed on his forehead. It's reassuring to Jungkook that they're both in a similar boat, although he's still on edge about Taehyung's lack of honesty with you.
"You think you can protect Y/N?"
Taehyung forces a snort, unbuttoning his ochre blazer to further convey his laxness with a shrug. Jungkook doesn't buy it.
"They aren't wolves. They're just people."
"Horrible people," Jungkook adds, the memory of every party he's attended alongside his best friend in the past deepening the crease in his brow. The black turtleneck and blazer combo don't seem like a wise choice for a party in the early May heat.
"We survived them," Taehyung reasons, mustering up enough confidence to now stand beside Jungkook at the entrance. "As long as I don't leave her alone, we'll be fine. Besides it's not about us today. It's about you and your closure."
Jungkook smiles with a heavy sigh of relief.
Whether it's to escape the nerves that still gnaw at them, the two settle into their usual conversations occasionally glancing at the vehicles rounding the cul de sac for who they're waiting for. Of course, it wouldn't be hard to spot Hoseok's Honda Civic amongst the Porsches and Rolls-Royces. Still, they're both anxious, and as the time of their arrival nears their conversations taper off into complete silence.
A tiny part of Taehyung's mind wishes you didn't come, that maybe you accidentally ate a rotten egg for breakfast this morning and he'd have an excuse to leave. Holding your hair back while you suffer the full wrath of food poisoning sounds better than staying here. Because these people weren't in fact wolves, they were serpents. And his father was the king of them all.
But Taehyung sighs both painfully and in relief when Hoseok's humble vehicle rolls through the gates. When he hears Jungkook repeat his sigh, he turns to meet his best attempt at a stoic expression. It softens after about a millisecond because, well, Jungkook is soft. And today, Taehyung has to be strong for his best friend who can't.
When the car stops in front of the grandeur steps, Hoseok is the first to exit. Crimson-tinted sunglasses sit on the bridge of his nose as he smiles at the valet, twirling around his only key on his ring-adorned finger. A floral dress shirt tucked into a pair of black slacks show off his lean hourglass figure. In other words, it's just regular Hoseok.
The valet approaches the passenger door first before flinching as Hoseok tosses him his key. With a sultry wink, he opens the door himself and allows for the spotlight to shift. Out steps Uma, wrapped in a blush body con dress that hugs every curve, and trust that she had plenty of those. Hoseok hums appreciatively as he admires her, holding her hand in his as he leads her out while she tucks a perfectly coiled curl behind her hooped ear.
Taehyung hardly pays any attention to either honestly. Because as soon as your door starts opening he's skipping down three steps at a time to meet you. Maybe it was how sexy he found your collarbones on display in the off the shoulder dress you wore. Or it could have been the way sapphire blue beautifully complimented your skin. Or maybe it was just how enticingly sweet you looked with your hair hanging in its natural dark waves while you smiled at him with pink-glossed lips. Either way, Taehyung is bewitched.
For a few beats he just stares, captivated and mesmerized as he scans you from head to toe again and again. If it were anyone else you might have turned away, crossing your arms over your chest out of a sudden feeling of insecurity. But you'd never felt insecure around Taehyung. Suddenly, you're pulled into his strong embrace, your greeting being muffled by his chest smothering your face. Then just as quickly, he pulls you away as if to stare at you once more.
"Beautiful," he croons, eyeing you with a sinister look.
"Easy," you roll your eyes playfully, "put your tongue back in your mouth."
He chuckles, pulling you closer and tighter before leaning into your ear. "I'd rather put it somewhere else."
You giggle as he attacks your neck with soft kisses, murmuring sweet praises against your skin that make you blush more than you'd like anyone in public to see. But that's Taehyung as far as you believe, never afraid to show people who he loves.
"HELLO!" Hoseok snaps, his armed wrapped around Uma's waist like a belt. "We're here too."
Taehyung detaches his lips from your neck with a small huff. He looks over at the couple and his best friend before waving them off. "She's the main attraction."
Jungkook reaches over to physically yank Taehyung by the collar of his blazer, granting you the gift of fresh air. You offer him a friendly hug as a greeting but scrunch your nose in confusion when you notice the missing piece.
"Hey, where's your girl?"
Jungkook frowns, lamenting the loss of the distraction preventing Sora from running laps around his mind.
"She...she'll probably be here soon. You guys go ahead. I'll catch up."
Everyone hangs around for a beat longer, observing Jungkook's somber face before slowly starting for the entrance. The kid didn't want a pity party, he just wanted a girl.
You take a step to follow Hoseok and Uma up the steps but halt when you feel a hand on yours. You turn to see Taehyung staring intensely at his best friend, his hand unknowingly gripping yours.
"You don't want to leave him," you say, smiling at your boyfriend's gooey heart in action. Taehyung shakes his head as he feels yours rest on his shoulder. "Let's stay for a little longer."
"Everything will change today," Taehyung sighs, "f-for him."
"Change is good sometimes." You narrow your eyes at his expression now matching Jungkook's and tug his chin so that it meets your face. "Is everything okay?"
"My dad and his friends can be a little much. They're all loose cannons. Promise that whatever happens today...you won't hate me."
You can't help but notice the glossy layer over his eyes and frown. Leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on his lips, you feel his shoulders relax under your touch and smile. "I could never hate you, Taehyung."
"Good," he whispers, running his fingers through your hair. It's a paper layer of reassurance, but it puts Taehyung's nerves at bay at least for now.
Michelangelo is credited for painting the most beautiful artworks of the Sistine Chapel. He painted of ethereal angels, heavens, and gods. Therefore it seems unfit to compare the Young mansion to the gorgeous museum when a devil is welcome to roam their halls.
Ron stares down at you tangled in Taehyung's arms from the second-story window. His lips curl sinisterly, eyes casting curses with more intensity than his words ever could. In his utmost villainous fashion, Kai and Samuel stand beside him on either side, two boobs willing to do whatever it takes to please him.
Kai's gaze flits from you to Ron and he frowns. "Uh...sir? Are you still planning to-"
"Yes," Ron answers, deep and dark.
"Even while she's here?"
Ron nods, his glare still targeted on you and your boyfriend.
"Yes. Taehyung will never forget where he comes from again."
