Chapter 4 (Dashi Run Run Run)

You chicken out the next day too.

You see on the schedule that there's a full day of rehearsal for the guys, covering dance practice and speeches for an upcoming talkshow episode.

You spend the day cornering different groups of staff, interviewing them about what the group members have to learn and practice.

You hunt down the stylists, taking pictures of their planned outfits and accessories.

You manage to get through the whole day without seeing a single BTS boy, save for a moment when you heard Jhope's voice down a hallway and immediately spun around to speedwalk away in the opposite direction.
Where there is one BTS member there often lurks another, you reason.

But you can't go forever avoiding the focus of your job.

The following day, the media manager waved you over.

"I didn't see you at the rehearsal practices yesterday. Were you working in the office instead?"

"No, I was interviewing the staff and taking photos of the outfits for the tv show," you reply.

"Okay," he nods, "I was just surprised you weren't writing about the rehearsal practice. But interviewing backstage staff is interesting too. Just make sure you cover the dress rehearsal happening today."

"Of course, I absolutely will," you promise.

With no other option, you check the server schedule and meet up with the crew buses later in the day, commuting one hour to the television station set location.

When you arrive, you grab a seat far in the back of the set, writing about the stage props as everyone else settles in and the BTS members are being readied backstage.

When everything is prepared, the boys file out to deliver a lighthearted conversation based on specific questions from the show. Following that they do three dance routines, running each one twice.

You're too far for them to see you through the crowd of studio staff and you're grateful, because you catch yourself a few times following Jungkook's every move with your eyes.

He performed exceptionally well as always, doing everything perfectly, never missing a beat, with unnatural ease.
His eyes find the cameras easily; he smiles seductively as the zoom pans across his face.
This guy is too easy to fall for, you remind yourself. Don't be stupid.

A few hours later, you're standing by the crew buses, waiting to leave when you see the BTS guys stream out of the back door of the studio, heading for their van.

You pivot quickly, but Taehyung turns his head, sees you and calls out.

"Noona!" He veers over. You look back slowly and smile at him.

"Hi Tae..." you peek around him to see the other guys change direction to follow him.

The lone figure of Jungkook stays put for a moment, standing still, before reluctantly trailing after them.

You wave weakly as they approach you.

"I haven't seen you for days, noona! It's weird because I usually see you every day," Taehyung says, smiling brightly.

"Well I saw her," said Namjoon, nodding at you. "She came to work with me the other day."

"But Taehyung is right, we do usually see her every day," Jhope agrees, "where have you been?" He asks you.

"Oh, writing with the staff... just, getting their... point of views..." you feel your air supply dwindling as Jungkook saunters to a stop at the edge of the group.

You stare directly at Jhope, trying to ignore it.

"Ahh, that's cool," adds Jin.

"We're heading back, want to ride with us?" Asks Suga.

"Oh no that's okay, I should go with the staff bus," you shake your head.

"But you don't have any stuff to put in the bus and you always spend lots of time with us anyway. No one will care," says Taehyung.

"Yeah, but... I'm okay." You shake your head again.

"C'mon, it'll be so much faster," he insists.

"I---" you begin.

"She doesn't want to. Let's go." Jungkook's curt tone cuts you off.

You lift your head at his brusque voice.

"Leave her. Let's go," he snaps again.

He doesn't even look at you; he turns and walks away without waiting for his hyungs.

"Alright, suit yourself. We won't pressure you," says Jhope. "Taehyung, she probably wants to ride the bus to hang out with her coworkers. Let's go."

They each force a smile and follow after Jungkook.

"Aw, okay noona. Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow," says Taehyung, before waving and jogging off to catch up with the others.
