36 - The Familiar Friend
Draco woke up in a cold sweat; the memories of his dream echoing hauntingly in his head.
Kill the snake.
He sat up, covering his face in his hands as he waited for his furiously pounding heart to calm down.
"Drac?" Blaire whispered sleepily, causing him to shiver as he felt her place delicate fingertips upon his arm; his left arm where the Dark Mark lay.
He shakily lowered his hands, looking down at his beautiful best friend... his soulmate.
"Bad dream," he murmured, leaning down to lightly brush his lips against her forehead. "Go back to sleep, love."
Careful not to disturb their sleeping son who lay curled on her other side, Draco slid back down and wrapped Blaire tightly in his arms, welcoming the feel of her soft warm body pressed against his.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She whispered, her breath tickling his ear, causing a pleasant twitch beneath his boxers.
Fuck, he wanted her so much; but they'd never had the opportunity since that first night when he'd turned her down. It all seemed... inappropriate, given their situation. For a start, they were sharing a bedroom with both Jack and Scorpius now, and not to mention Orion who insisted on being with Jack at all times and so slept at the bottom of the bed.
Not that he minded. He loved their little family so much, never having imagined he could be this happy ever again. He yearned to keep them close by his side and protect them all.
But he also yearned to be with Blaire and to have her all to himself. He longed to lose himself inside her body and fuck her like he used to.
"Actually," he murmured softly, suddenly feeling wide awake despite it being the dead of night, "I wouldn't mind sneaking out and having some alone time with you."
But it wasn't just about sex, he told himself as he led her quietly out of the bedroom. It was about being with her.
They found themselves in the games room, the place where their teenage selves used to pull all nighters on beanbags, playing video games and stuffing themselves with Muggle snacks.
"It seems like only yesterday," Blaire said, her eyes sweeping fondly over to the corner where the entertainment system used to stand. "I remember all those times I thrashed you at Streetfighter."
"Liar," he smirked, pulling her down with him onto the sofa that was now there in place of the beanbags. "I think you'll find that I was the one doing the thrashing."
"You're seriously deluded, you know that, Drac?" Blaire drawled in amusement, her eyes shining brightly up at him. "You sucked at Muggle games, especially Monopoly."
"Fancy a game?" He asked, grinning wickedly, recalling how they rarely finished that game.
But Blaire just surveyed the empty room in confusion, clearly wondering with what.
Following her gaze, Draco suddenly felt a sadness hit him; a mourning for their old lives.
"I had everything sent to the summer house when I moved out," he explained, swallowing as he thought of the hours he'd spent there just missing her. "It was a place I could go to remember you. And then, when Astoria fell pregnant, I realised I needed to move on for the sake of my child and so I- I boxed it all away... I'm sorry."
His voice broke. The awfulness of having to admit this to her physically hurting his heart.
"Drac," Blaire breathed tenderly cupping her hand to his cheek. "I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that."
He closed his eyes, not being able to bear seeing the sadness swimming in hers. He felt so ashamed; ashamed of having ever given up on her. He was afraid he'd never forgive himself.
Lips pressed against his, kissing softly at first. Draco instantly emitted a longing groan, bringing his hands up to tangle his fingers in her hair, bunching it in his fist as he deepened the kiss, loving the taste and familiarity of her lips.
Wanting to feel her closer, he pulled her up onto his lap, leaning back against the sofa so that she fell against him, the weight of her making his body buzz wildly as desire flowed through his veins.
But as he grew harder and harder, a thought popped into his head, and once it got in there he knew he wasn't going to be able to continue until he spoke it out loud.
"Blaire," he rasped, pulling his lips from hers, both their hearts pounding wildly beneath their heavily rising and falling chests. "I haven't- I haven't got anything."
The last thing he wanted to do was accidentally knock her up again.
Not yet, anyway.
Now it was Blaire's turn to look coy. "Pansy slipped me a pack of contraceptive pills," she murmured as her lips flickered into a smile, "apparently Vincent has 'contacts'."
It was another thing Voldemort had abolished - contraception. He didn't believe in having sex for fun. It was purely about 'mating' to him. But good old Crabbe would know how to get around that, of course.
"Fuck, I think I might have just fallen in love with him," Draco chuckled softly as he caught her lips eagerly back in his.
She gasped as he flipped her over, pinning her down on the sofa whilst expertly flicking his wand towards the door; locking and silencing the room.
It had been a long time and he had a lot of making up to do.
*******
Neither of us lasted long.
But then that was hardly surprising given the years we'd been deprived of one another.
"Fuck, I'm sorry," Draco gasped above me, wincing as he slid out and collapsed in a sweaty, panting heap on top of me. "I've just missed you so fucking much."
"I'm not complaining," I grinned, gently scraping my fingernails up and down his back causing him to suck in a sharp breath and shudder against me whenever I hit a sensitive spot. "Besides, I think I kind of needed it like that. Urgent."
Urgent had definitely been the word for it. It had been fast, frantic and loud; our bodies rejoicing at being together once again. We'd literally torn the clothes from one another, not being able to get them off fast enough. And I'd grabbed him eagerly in my hand, too hungry for him to bother with niceties. "I need you now," I demanded, and he had more than happily obliged, both us trembling and moaning in orgasmic pleasure within moments.
Hence the apology.
"Give me twenty minutes and I can reenact our school days," he chuckled, his silver eyes glinting devilishly into mine.
"How many times do you think we fucked in this room?" I pondered, looking up at the ceiling, fondly recalling the days when it was just him and me living in our own treehouse fuck bubble.
"Countless, and I don't think there's a room we missed out."
"The downstairs toilet? Oh- wait," I said as a knowing smirk twitched at Draco's lips. "I remember. We broke the sink."
"We broke a lot of furniture if I recall." Draco mused, sniggering wickedly. "I had to 'borrow' Mother's wand to fix everything before she went and broke her back on a chair with a cracked leg or something."
His eyes twinkled as we exchanged a mischievous look and we fell into a companionable silence; remembering.
"We had a good time, despite all the drama surrounding us, didn't we?" I asked, "when we were together, I mean. And not fighting over Pansy and Cedric and Vanishing Cabinets."
"It was the best," he murmured wistfully, manoeuvring himself alongside me as he wrapped me up in his arms, nuzzling his face against mine. "I just wish I could have had more of you."
"You've got me, Drac," I said at once, my heart fluttering at the amount of tenderness in his eyes, "you've got every bit of me. You always had."
"I can't go through with losing you ever again," he said fiercely, entwining his fingers in mine. "I can't do it, I just can't do life without you."
"I'm not going anywhere," I assured him, pressing my body a little more firmly against his, running a foot up his leg.
I could feel the race of his heart beneath his chest, and the accelerated breaths pass between his lips.
"Jesus, Drac, it didn't take you long," I drawled, as a familiar friend began to awaken between us.
"It's missed you," he smirked, dipping his head to graze his teeth along my collarbone, causing my stomach to knot in excitement. "It's missed you a lot."
And it spent the next thirty five minutes showing me exactly just how much.
