For You
"The sky looks beautiful," Luigi sighed.
"That's not to say," Bowser sighed, "Although I'm sure you'd rather be with someone else right now."
"Huh? The truth is that I enjoy my time with you" he blushed slightly "In fact, there are several things about him that remind me of you."
"Isn't it weird that you tell me?"
"Is it?" He took his hand as he lowered his gaze.
"Since when are you so daring?" He lifted him by the chin. Luigi laughed, but as he looked at the koopa he realized that it had been replaced by Bowie "Are you okay? You look disappointed."
"What!? No, I could never be if I'm with you" he smiled nervously "To be honest, you're one of the best things that's ever happened to me."
"And you are one the best things that have appeared in my life," he caressed behind his ear.
He noticed how his partner's finger turned into a claw.
"Did you come back?"
"I never left," Bowser replied.
"Neither do I," he listened to Bowie on the opposite side. "You're dreaming strange things."
"Is it a dream?" he frowned.
"Luigi, we're in Antarctica wearing summer clothes" replied the redhead.
The chestnut looked around him; Bowie was not lying. But he could swear that wasn't the case a few minutes ago.
"I have to wake up," he murmured.
"You must?" Bowser glared at him as he pulled him back with his tail. Thus causing a blush in the minor.
"So now you like him?" the other human pointed out.
"Nothing like that, I like you" answered Luigi quickly.
"And what good taste, he's handsome" Bowser peeked out.
"You're not bad either, friend"" Bowie smiled at him "You're like me, but bigger and more scaly."
"Hey, I hadn't noticed," he laughed. "Who knows, maybe you're me from another dimension.
"So, if we put our hands together, will the universe explode or something?"
"We could try," he shrugged as he held out his arm.
"I don't see why not," he agreed.
And just before they could join, an alarm sounded.
A bunch of penguins came out of the snow running all over the place shouting "Lu! Lu! Lu!"
"LU! LU! LU!" Daisy was shaking him. "LU," she yelled.
"I'm awake!" He shot himself up, bumping into her best friend, "Ouch, my head."
"Knowing that you got aggressive when you woke you up, I wouldn't have come" the girl rubbed her head.
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" He got up.
"At most I will have a bruise that will be covered by my bangs" she smiled "And you? You are a heavy sleeper."
"Yesterday I revealed myself too much."
"And you also got drunk" she sat on the bed "Seriously, I've never seen someone get like that with two glasses of wine."
"I drank with Bowser before dinner," he confessed before pausing briefly, "How did I get last night?"
"Don't you remember?" Her friend denied "Oh God," she laughed, "Lu, you dedicated a song to me."
"I did what?"
"And you sang to me in front of everyone."
"WHAT!?" He blushed.
"Well, I thought you were singing to me" she feigned indignation "After your beautiful performance of 'The Only Exception', you fainted for a few minutes and I dragged you. You were just babbling 'Bo bo bo', I have no idea what you wanted to tell me. When I was finally able to lay you down, you pulled me next to you and held me for five minutes. It was too much! And if I tried to get away, you would squeeze me more."
"I didn't hurt you, right?"
"Only my heart" she crossed her arms "When you finally let me go, you whispered 'I like you, Bow'" the blush on Luigi's face intensified "And just the day we won the favorite couple, but what a humiliation!" dramatized.
The boy did not answer. He was making an effort to remember even a small part, but it was impossible. But even he knew the reason for this; His brain couldn't concentrate because at the same time he was doubting what Bow had referred to when he released that sentence.
It must have been Bowie, but the night with the koopa had confused him too much. His eyes, his voice, his touch. Everything that made Bowie special seemed to be shared with Bowser! That wasn't possible, unless he liked this one too. However, how could that be? He hadn't lived half as long with the villain as he had with the human; and yet he was dying to see Bowser and feel that excitement and pleasant anxiety that he was sure would drive him crazy one day.
"Luigi," her friend snapped her fingers in front of him. "You left for a while and suddenly you put on a silly smile. How much do you think about?"
"What do you think of Bowser?" he asked.
"Huh?" She arched an eyebrow "He's reserved, weird, and I think he's afraid of me," she answered, somewhat confused.
"I know that, but what about physically?"
"What?" She made a face "It's big, I guess. Wait, are you asking me if I think he's attractive?"
Luigi swallowed. "No," he mumbled.
"Lu, what the hell? Do you like Bowser?"
"No!" he blushed.
"Then why are you red?"
"It's complicated, okay?"
"Lu, yesterday you liked Bowie, you seemed delighted with him. And now this?"
"They are literally the same! His voices, his eyes, the way they talk and make you feel safe even though they are not the closest people to me."
"You like Bowser!" she yelled.
"I don't like him," she hastened to shut her up, "Daisy, I like Bowie, okay? This must just be nerves."
"Nervous about what?"
"Today I'm going to confess my feelings," he confessed.
The girl froze for a few seconds; she had to admit that she felt attacked by a hurricane of emotions: happiness, excitement, sadness, despair and many more that she still couldn't decipher. But she had promised that she would support her friend and that was still her plan.
"Are you sure?" She looked at him.
"More than ever," he took her hands. "I understand that he is suspicious, but I decided to trust him. And I want to be by his side more than anything in this world.
"Then I must prepare an outfit for you to look more handsome than ever," she smiled.
"I can dress myself."
"Oh Lu, my cute and innocent Lu" she stroked his hair "You have no idea of anything. Trust me." She stood on her toes so she could kiss his nose.
They hurried out of the room and went to breakfast. Luigi took it upon himself to hide some cookies in his pocket to give to the koopalings later.
Arriving at the classroom they met Bowser; there was a small moment of discomfort as the men's eyes met. This more than anything from Luigi's side; he could feel his cheeks making an effort not to turn red in front of the koopa. After all it was as if he had suddenly noticed a hidden attraction in him; His eyes were fierce and affectionate at the same time, his hair looked like flames that moved in an elegant dance, fit for a king. Despite being shy, he always held his chest up, giving him an aura of power that gradually attracted the blue-eyed man.
"Good morning," the older one greeted.
His voice was deep and slightly raspy; It was amazing to Luigi how just two words could make his legs shake.
"Good morning," he replied, trying to keep his voice from shaking.
"Good morning," Daisy peeked out, "You look a little different today, Bowser, did you do something to your hair?" Before the koopa could answer, she interrupted him, "No, it's not that. But you look a little more attractive, what do you think, Lu?" She gave him a little bump with her elbow while giving him a mocking look.
The boy couldn't help but think that Daisy was lucky that he loved her so much, because otherwise he was sure he would have done something to her at that exact moment.
"You look good" the boy smiled at him "Are your brothers still not here? I brought them cookies" he changed the subject.
"They won't come to today's meeting, but if you give them to me I will tell them that they are from you."
"Okay," he gave it to him, then sat down. "So you continued drinking with Miyamoto after I left?"
"A little," he lied.
The things they both had in common were sometimes so precise that they would surely both be terrified when they realized it. But Luigi hadn't been the only one who had made a fool of himself the night before.
Bowser had a very good hold on alcohol; in fact, before that night, he had only gotten drunk once, with his father. And now Miyamoto had been in charge of taking care of him; although well, in the koopa's eyes there wasn't much difference between these two people.
After finishing the bottle of whiskey, the koopa pulled out a vodka he had saved for special occasions. The truth is that he hadn't realized until that moment how much the favorite couple award had affected him. For the next month, he was going to be seeing pictures of Daisy and Luigi acting like the most beautiful couple in the world in almost every hallway. And the worst thing is that they looked perfect together!
In the end he just stayed crying and shouting the boy's name while Miyamoto tried to shut him up.
"Yes, I also drank a little more at dinner," said Luigi.
Without realizing it, they were chatting in the most casual way, that anyone who entered the room was confused by the interaction of those two.
Even Daisy was surprised, because as soon as her friend started talking to the koopa, it seemed that he had forgotten that she was there too.
Despite this, the day had passed with some normality. However, the time had come that made Luigi more than anxious.
For the first time, he had been the first to arrive. He was in front of the entrance number three of the garden maze, known mainly for being where there was a beautiful bush of yellow roses.
Part of him wanted to run away and tell Bowie something had come up, but his heart screamed that if he did that, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
"Hey" the redhead appeared "I'm sorry, did I make you wait too long?"
"Not at all, I only have been waiting for about five minutes," he smiled nervously.
"Someone like you shouldn't wait five seconds" he caressed his cheek "Where do you want to go today?"
"Do you think we lose ourselves in the maze?"
"Lose ourselves?" he laughed.
"It's just a saying, I know all the exits, I guided you" he took his hands "What do you think?"
"You were the one who asked me out, whatever you want is fine with me."
They both began to walk between the walls of vines with complete calm. Even in silence they were able to have a conversation with the mere touch of their hands.
The normal thing was that the couples gathered in the central part: which was easy to recognize by the famous "Fountain of the Lovers". A fountain as old as the academy itself. It was not difficult to recognize, it was two marble statues: a knight and a princess. Both linked their hands; The man looked tired and somewhat dirty, representing that he had just gone out of battle to rescue the neat and elegant princess.
Until a few weeks ago that was what Luigi believed to be the ideal love; but he was not a disheveled gentleman, nor Bowie a princess, and yet he felt more full of love than ever.
They avoided the fountain when they realized that there were two couples. So they went to a lesser known place. Some rumored that it was an entrance to the wonderland, as there was a small burrow in which a beautiful white rabbit lived; but they were just coincidences.
They both sat on the grass and watched the stars for a few minutes.
Luigi explained a few constellations and how he got along with some stars. As always, Bowie listened to him carefully and with a smile that showed all his love for him.
"I see you liked recording up there," Bowie said suddenly.
"I was scared to death when Miyamoto first told us the idea," he confessed, "But upon arrival everything was so magical. If we ever come back, I'll find a way to take you with me. You will surely love it."
"I'd love anywhere I go with you," he laughed.
"Really?" He took his hand.
"I've never been more honest before," he replied as he moved closer to him.
He swallowed "You know? Today I wanted to see you for something important" he got up "And I know it will sound strange due ti everything I've told you before, but I want you to know that it's not a joke" he looked at him for a few seconds to make sure he was listening "Since I met you , my life has been different; At first this terrified me, like almost everything" he laughed "But something about you always attracted me and seemed to prevent me from getting away from you. At the time I didn't understand it well, I just knew that I wanted to continue seeing you and getting to know you more. Without realizing it you became my best friend and I can't even imagine a life without you anymore."
"That's beautiful," he stood up.
"That's not all," he stood in front of him, "Bowie, you made a complete mess of me. I get distracted in meetings, now I'm friends with the villain of the game and there are times when I can't sleep thinking about you. I'm sure if the Luigi of now talked to who he was at the beginning of the semester, he wouldn't be able to recognize himself. And you know the worst part? I love it" he smiled "And it took me too long to realize and accept it; even now I'm afraid to say it; I could get into a lot of trouble with my brother and Miyamoto, but I don't care. Bowie, I like you," he blurted out, "And if you give me the chance, I'd like to be more than just friends."
Bowser froze.
He had made it, the boy from his dreams felt the same as him. So why wasn't he happy?
He felt that something was squeezing his chest, he even wanted to vomit. His hands were shaking and they were sweating cold. It wasn't one bit like he had imagined at the time. Where was the magic!? And the fireworks?
"Are you okay?" Luigi looked at him worriedly.
"Yeah," he stammered. "It just took me by surprise."
"Sorry, I messed up, right?" He walked away.
"No!" He pulled him by the wrist "Luigi, I like you very much. You are the most amazing boy I have ever met; Every minute by your side is complete bliss. But... " Was he going to tell him? "There are things you don't know about me" he approached his hands to the crown "I" he began to tremble "I'm sorry, I'm not ready yet" he cowered and turned his back on him "I love you, but believe me, I'm not what you're looking for" he went away.
So Luigi stayed there. He couldn't move, he wasn't even able to process what had happened.
Without realizing it, tears began to slide down his cheeks.
At first it was one, then two, and little by little he could feel how the third was united with the fourth and the fifth with the sixth, all this to the point that he could no longer even count, since everything had joined in a single channel.
He flopped down and stared at nothing for what seemed like hours, but he would never know for sure.
He raised his head to the sky and it lit up with orange and green fireworks. The celebration for having won the favorite couple continued.
But the truth was that Luigi had never felt that he had lost as much as at that moment.
