Breaking point

Luigi woke up in good spirits, despite having ended in a bittersweet way, he remembered the previous night with great affection.

He would sound pathetic, but it was the first school party he had attended and he could tell that he had really enjoyed himself. He didn't understand what it was about villains that gave him so much security; Being with them felt like a drug, the longer he was around them the more alive he felt.

He had found a place where he finally felt comfortable and where he wanted to belong.

He even thought that maybe it was time to come out in front of everyone; for now he knew that he would not be alone.

He hurried to get ready and went to breakfast.

Upon arriving, he was inundated by several greetings from villains who passed him.

Receiving attention was not something unusual for him, but it was almost always because he was Mario's younger brother; not so much for simply being him.

For the first time he could feel that those approaches and greetings were not received just because of his name or status, but because they really liked him.

And several had even mentioned to him that they didn't expect him to be so rebellious and relaxed, it had been a pleasant surprise.

"Hey," Waluigi approached, "How are you, boy? Didn't you have any problems last night?"

"My brother didn't notice anything, don't worry. Thanks for hiding me, by the way."

"Luigi, you already thanked me like fifteen times, you don't have to do it anymore," he laughed.

"You can call me Lu."

"Wouldn't that bother your brother?"

"With all due respect, what does that matter? You're going to tell me, not him."

"I like this new version," he looked at him from head to toe with a slight smile. "Hey, we're having a game night tonight. We'll probably play poker, gamble, drink, and that kind of stuff. Do you want to come? Your boyfriend will."

"Did you convince Bow to leave his room?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I think you're both doing well for each other," he replied. "See you there, then?"

"Of course," he smiled.

"See you tonight, then. I'm leaving, your brother is watching us and he doesn't look happy," he walked away.

Luigi was finally able to sit up.

"Good morning, how did you sleep?" He asked.

"Do you want to explain yourself?" Mario growled in response.

"I thought you said you weren't going to interfere in my life anymore."

"That was before I realized the real danger you're putting us all in."

"It can't be," he rolled his eyes. "Now what am I doing so horrible that I'm ruining your amazing protagonist's life?"

"Don't look at me like I'm selfish; this isn't just about me."

"Really? Because I haven't seen anyone else complain; not even Miyamoto."

"That man already has too much on his mind to realize the mess you're making. Like a Mario, I must help him control what's wrong."

"A Mario? Is this for dad?"

"It does not matter."

"Your 'job as Mario' is to make sure everyone works as they should, right? In the game I'm still the same stupid and manipulative brother as always, I don't understand what you're worried about" he frowned "Besides, you always had problems with me for losing everytime and now I even broke a record, isn't that a good thing?"

"That record doesn't matter anymore, the level has been erased."

"Very convenient for you, isn't it?"

Everyone at the table stared at them.

Mario clenched his fists "I don't like what you're implying."

"I haven't said anything. Or does the jacket fit?"

He grimaced. "I lost my appetite." He stood up. "If you really think that hanging out with villains isn't affecting you, you should listen to yourself and see how you act lately; you'll be surprised." He left.

"Honey," Peach tried to stop him, but the oldest had already fled. "Did you see what you did?"

Luigi rolled his eyes and exchanged glances with Link and Sidon, but they preferred not to say anything.

Classes passed normally, he was happy to see Daisy more cheerful than in previous days.

However, he now attracted the gazes of several people in the classroom, villains and their allies to be more exact; Now that they had confirmed his relationship with the koopa king, they were more than intrigued.

"Tomorrow we will have a special breakfast with the protagonists of the game to advertise. So" Miyamoto reviewed a list "Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Donkey and Bowser, I want you early in the dining room tomorrow."

Everyone was surprised when they heard the koopa's name.

"Why would Bowser go?" Mario asked.

"Because since the movie his fame has increased too much and, furthermore, the game would not be the same without him," replied the teacher, "I want you four to be exemplary couples; especially for you two, I remind you that not long ago you won the polls of best couple in video games" looked at Luigi and Daisy.

They both nodded as they clasped hands.

"After breakfast we will film some commercials and do a photo session of everyone individually and in pairs. The wardrobe designers will find complementary costumes for them, so no need to change clothes, Daisy" he looked at the brunette.

"I only did it once and it was a joke," she pouted.

"I don't want moral or family dramas either," he pointed out to the brothers.

"I think we can both behave in front of the cameras," Mario replied reluctantly.

"I know, we just want to save ourselves problems," he sighed. "Okay, today we'll see the new track. This one is much more complicated than the previous one, so pay attention..."

The atmosphere was difficult to decipher. It had already become customary for the teacher that everyone shared the same state of mind; That way it was much easier to treat them. However, everyone's emotions seemed to be scattered.

Daisy seemed happier than on previous occasions, Luigi was calm, Mario was upset, and Peach... She was an interesting case, anyone who saw her would say that she was calm and impeccable as always; However, her ponytail was twisted, something that denoted that she was anxious.

When classes ended, everyone went to their bedrooms.

Luigi rushed to get ready to meet Bowser and the others. He had never been to a game night, his biggest references were the ones his father had with his former teammates when he and his brother were just children.

When he was ready, he strode quickly to the villains' common room.

When he arrived, they welcomed him with open arms and big smiles. They had also reserved a seat for him next to his boyfriend.

Luigi had to admit that he had a hard time adapting to the antagonists' heavy manner. Even Bowser became a little more aggressive when he was with his companions.

They were playing poker, the ally had learned to play it thanks to a game. Miyamoto had trained him and he could boast of having become quite good, so it was not difficult for him to realize that the others were cheating.

"Waluigi, if you don't take out the card you're hiding, I'll leave the game and you won't win anything," he said with a slight mocking smile.

"You have no proof that I have anything hidden!"

"You're not denying it either."

"Ha! I told you you weren't going to fool him," Wario mocked.

"I warned you, my Lu is too smart to be fooled," Bowser smiled.

"Speaking of which," his boyfriend looked at him. "Don't think I don't realize you're marking the cards."

"Uh?" he blushed.

The other two laughed.

"Boy, we're villains, we can cheat a little," said Waluigi.

"Well, I'm an ally, I can reveal and punish your cheating," he responded. "By the way, I already won." He lowered his cards while collecting the money. "Next time, choose a more difficult game." He smiled conceitedly.

"His ego is already rising, you are a bad influence on the boy, Bow," Wario spoke.

"He was like that before, it's not my fault."

"Excuse me?" Luigi frowned.

"You are one of the most famous faces in video games and you are aware of it," he laughed. "Sometimes you are somewhat conceited without realizing it."

"Really?" he blurted out embarrassed.

"Don't worry, you're no worse than your brother," he stroked his hair.

Luigi giggled and gave him a quick kiss.

The other two friends looked at each other.

"Who knew that the only thing you needed to come out of your shell was a boyfriend?" Wario mocked. "We've invited you hundreds of times and until now you show up here. It's obvious that you're demanding."

The koopa stifled a laugh. "The truth is that I feel more confident in myself now."

"You took too long," Waluigi grimaced. "You are very changed too," he saw the human. "It's strange not to see you shaking. But it's nice, you're a good rival," he crossed his arms. "You can tell that you helped each other grow."

The couple exchanged glances and smiled lightly.

The meeting ended at approximately two in the morning. Luigi stayed the night in Bowser's room and even stayed for coffee in the morning.

At eight he went to get ready in his room to record at ten.

When he arrived, his brother and Peach were already ready.

"Good morning," he greeted.

Mario responded, but Peach completely ignored him.

Minutes passed and everyone arrived, everyone except Daisy.

Miyamoto looked impatiently at his watch.

"Does anyone know where that girl is?" He growled.

"I'm going to call her," Luigi sighed.

"Ha! Until you deign to do it," Peach said suddenly.

"What are you talking about?" He frowned slightly.

Before the blonde could respond, the dining room doors opened revealing a very disheveled Daisy.

Her uniform was buttoned poorly, her hair was barely brushed and she looked like she hadn't slept all night.

"Hey," she forced a smile as she staggered.

Miyamoto froze "Is she...

"Drunk," Mario concluded with obvious concern.

"Dais," Luigi approached, "What happened to you? Are you okay?" He took her hand.

"Lu, you are still alive!" She blurted out, it was evident that she wasn't in her senses. "What a relief, I was worried yesterday that you didn't respond to any of my messages."

"Messages?" He checked his cell phone "Dinner," he mumbled, "Daisy," he looked at her, he looked for a way to excuse himself, but the words didn't come out of his mouth. "I forgot, I'm sorry."

"Oh, don't worry, I understand. You have better things to do," she tried to get away, but she stumbled.

"You're not fine," he held her tightly. "You should rest, you can't record like this."

"And what do you know?" She frowned as she tried to get away. "I'm perfect." She approached the table. "I just need some water." She took a glass, but when she tried to pour herself, she spilled everything on it; making her blouse transparent .

Luigi rushed to cover her with his body and gave her his jacket.

"Why the fuck aren't you wearing a bra?"

"What does it matter to you?"

"I am your friend and...

"Oh really?" she screeched. "Luigi, I was waiting for you for six hours yesterday, WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU?" she shouted.

"Dais, I made a mistake, I know; but if you let me, I'll make it up to you."

"Make it up to me? What you were supposed to do was fulfill me and be there when I needed you. But you never showed up. WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOW UP!? WHERE WERE YOU?"

Before he could respond, the sound of a fork hitting the ground caught his attention. The girl bent down to pick it up, but a second hand rested on hers.

"I'm sorry, Daisy, it was my fault," Bowser whispered as he helped her up.

The girl's eyes felt drowned and she ended up crying leaning on the koopa's chest.

"Would you like to talk?" He gently stroked her hair.

The girl nodded and left with him.

Saying that the recording had been canceled was unnecessary. The cameras were quickly turned off and equipment began to be collected.

Miyamoto didn't even know what to say, he could barely throw a look at Luigi that the boy couldn't decipher.

"You'll be happy," Peach approached. "I told you before, I don't care what kind of adventure you're having, as long as you were aware that it was just that and you didn't neglect your role." She looked at him. "That girl loves you madly. , she prepared everything because you didn't even ask her if you could help, she waited for you for hours and you couldn't even send her a single message. What kind of man are you? "You don't deserve half of the love she has for you," she left the place.

Luigi let himself slide down the wall until he ended up sitting on the floor. After a few minutes, a second person sat next to him.

"How do you feel?" Mario asked.

"Like shit," his brother confessed.

"For Daisy?"

"For all that, you should have seen how Miyamoto looked at me," he brought his knees to her chest. "He looked so disappointed in me," he mumbled. "And Daisy had already told me how she felt and I forgot, she must feel like I don't care. But I don't!" I adore her, you know."

"It's not me you have to convince of that."

"You're not upset?"

"Quite a bit," he responded. "But mostly worried," he murmured. "Lu, there's something I don't know if you're understanding or not, but I love you. I have no idea what's going on in your mind, but I want to help you fix it. Nothing is going to change how I feel about you, just be honest with me; Please," he begged.

The minor felt a lump in his throat and hid his face between his legs. He could feel himself becoming drenched in tears. It lasted like this for a few minutes, his brother stayed next to him the entire time.

"Mario" looked up and stared at him. "I'm gay," he mumbled.

His brother's face formed an expression that he again could not decipher.

"What?"

"I'm gay; I like men and I'm currently in an amazing relationship with a person I love with every part of my being," he confessed.

Mario let out a heavy sigh and was silent for a few seconds.

"You must be confused," he blurted out suddenly.

"I'm not," he answered confidently.

"Damn," he stood up while running a hand through his hair, "Lu, you can't be gay. You're a Luigi, Luigis are straight and they marry Daisies."

"I'm sorry," he looked down.

"We can fix it," he stood up.

"What?"

"It's simple," he said with a nervous smile. "You won't see that boy again and I'll accompany you to therapy; then we can get back to normal."

"What? But...

"Luigi, you already hurt someone today. Do you want to hurt more?"

"No but...

"Does she know?" he asked. His brother nodded. "But of course she knows, no wonder she's been so depressed lately," he growled. "Lu, there is no other solution for now. You should stay away, and I'm not just saying that for your own good, if not everyone's."

"And what harm does it do for me to love another man!? It doesn't affect the game at all, not even for future generations. The next Mario and Luigi will be your children, not mine."

"You don't know that! Many things can happen that could affect the course of the game, the status quo exists for a reason. We have an image to maintain for the public. You being gay will ruin the entire lineage that our father built."

"And what about my happiness?"

"And what about mine!? And Daisy's and Peach's and everyone's. You care about Bowser, right? If the game goes to hell, it'll affect that idiot too."

"You said you would support me" he faced him.

"And I also told dad that I would correct you," he answered.

Luigi grunted and left the room.

Mario took a few seconds to look out the window, when he looked up, he found the academy's shield.

There was no doubt, it was time to be a hero.
