Reading the Paper
Here Bowser sits in casual clothes with a cup of coffee in one hand and a newspaper in the other, a concerned look on his face. His son, Junior, is in pajamas with a nightcap on his head and brushing his teeth while leaning on his daddy's shoulder, looking over it, curious to see what he's looking at.
Junior: Whatcha doin', Papa?
Bowser: I'm reading the paper, son.
Junior: Whatcha readin' it for?
Bowser: .....
Junior: Are you readin' it for the funnies? I like those.
Bowser: No, actually, Junior, I'm reading it for something entirely different.
Junior: Like what?
Bowser: Grownup stuff, Junior. You'll know when you're older. Shouldn't you be heading to bed already?
Junior: Aw but I don't want to.
Bowser: *sighs* Junior you have to. You have school.
Junior: I'm just home-schooled, Papa.
Bowser: Either way a goodnight's rest is important so you can be alert and focused and finish your work on time. It's part of being responsible.
Your dad's right, Junior! *I pop up from under the table*
Junior: Cynder? Why are you under the table?
Bowser: That's what I'd like to know.
Nothing, just dropped my pen.
Bowser: *sighs, mumbling* Authoress is gonna be the death of me.....
No I won't!
Bowser: You weren't supposed to hear that, Cynder. Now please take Junior to bed. He needs his rest.
Junior: But I don't wanna!
Bowser: If you go to bed then I'll read you a bedtime story okay?
Junior: Okay! *runs off quickly to his room, waving bye to the readers* Don't forget ta vote!
