Chapter Twelve: The Plan is Set
I set to work almost instantly, making sure that everything was exactly where I wanted it. I finished setting up the crate for Chucky to walk under and had high hopes maybe it would give me enough time to find my brother and that book. I finished my trap by tying the rope against a metal handle on the wall and walked over to the door. Grabbing it, I pulled it open and quickly hid by the metal handle, waiting for the demon doll to come in. I waited for what seemed like hours until I started hearing small doll-like feet entering the room and a low groan.
"Where are you?" Chucky said, but I kept quiet. Not a moment too soon did the doll step directly under the crate. I smirked and untied the rope, allowing it to fall on top of Chucky. "What the hell?! Let me out!" I walked out from my hiding spot and glanced down at the crate I trapped him in.
"You've really underestimated me, Chucky," I said. "Maybe next time you should double check who you're messing with before you play hide and soul."
"You son of a bitch! I'll kill you once I get out of this! I'll have your soul and you'll be mine!" Chucky began pushing the crate toward me, but I placed heavy books on top of it, causing him to remain in place. Without looking back at him, I took off running and slammed the door shut. I grabbed a nearby chair and placed it under the doorknob, which would have been more effective. Then again, I didn't believe that a doll could open a door without the proper height or decency. I began searching the entire house, hoping to find Sam's soul and the book. I thought back to what Chucky had done, focusing all my abilities toward the search for the locket. I concentrated on finding that and reading the book.
I found myself down a hallway; the wallpaper torn and frayed like they left it to rot. Through the hall toward the end, I saw a mirror. It was old and Victorian. Inside, I could see the book and my brother's soul. He was screaming and begging to be freed, but from the way it looked, Sam couldn't get out. I panicked and raced down the hall toward him, struggling to keep up with him.
I pushed myself out of my vision and struggled a little to remain grounded and steady. My stomach dropped as I found myself still in the same area that I was before. I followed what my vision said and came across the same hallway. It creeped me out much I knew, and I was ready to get out of it. As I approached the mirror, a figure emerged into my view. I paused, unsure of what I should say, and the minute I got close to the mirror, I stumbled back into the mirror. My brother stood, fear engulfed his eyes like he had been waiting for me.
"Sammy?" I said, keeping my voice steady in case something or someone was listening. "How do I get you out of there?" Sam opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. I became confused, unsure of what I might think and what I should say. However, it turned out that Sam was only trying to help me, but he couldn't speak like the mirror was blocking him. His image pointed at the door. I followed it and saw another door had opened. I ran for it and pushed the door open. There, lying in the center of the room, was not only an altar but also the locket and the book. "What the hell?" I glanced around the room, tapestries hung against the walls nearly torn due to how long it had been hanging. Around the altar I saw candles thankfully unlit and on top of some strange table covers, almost weblike. "So I found the nerve system." I said to myself and approached the book. Suddenly, the candles in the room lit up with no one being around it.
I gasped. The book on the altar opened and started flipping pages rapidly. I remained still, wondering what Sam was trying to tell me. Well, if it were even my brother. It stopped flipping to a page with a spell; I read through it and saw that it was also a way to get my brother back. I sighed with relief and walked back toward the door, where I closed it and made sure that it was locked. No way was Chucky going to get in. Gathering everything I needed, I began putting the ingredients into a mixing bowl.
1: A PINCH OF YELLOW POWDER
2: TAIL OF A RABBIT
3: BLOOD OF A RELATIVE
I reread the ingredients, making sure that I had everything, and started mixing it. However, just out in the hallway, I heard a voice coming through.
"You can't hide forever, Dean Winchester!" Chucky exclaimed. "Soon, my mother will have your soul and we will trap you here with your brother for all eternity. So don't think you can easily escape!" I quickened my pace and recited the chant. The room shook, causing the locket to move a lot on the desk and fall onto the floor, breaking in half. I stepped away just as a wispy figure left the locket. My heart pounded, wondering what I had just done. Before I could even react, I heard another set of footsteps out in the hallway. "What? How did you-" instantly I heard something loud get tossed hitting the wall.
"Hello?" I called out.
"Dean?" Sam's voice echoed just outside the door. "Can you unlock the door?"
"How do I know you aren't soulless, Sam?" I asked.
"Dean?! Come on! I just got out from that stupid locket," Sam called back. "Hurry, open the door. Chucky is out for now, but I don't know how long." At first, I hesitated, thinking that maybe it was a trick, but, after a while, I walked over to the door and opened it. Standing outside was none other than my brother.
