Chapter Thirteen: Ending it Once and For all
I did a double take, surprised to see my brother, but I was completely unsure if this was truly my brother or soulless Sam. I stayed vigilant, not willing to risk it. I reached behind me for anything that I could grasp.
"De, it's okay," Sam said. "It's me."
"Prove it." I ordered.
"Fine. When I was young, we always played around the pond that was near our house," Sam explained. "And one Christmas, I gave you that necklace which is around your neck." I pulled my hand away expecting something to jump out at me, but and hugged my brother. Tears fell from my face since I had been searching everywhere for him and only learned that they had trapped him in the bird. Thankfully, I did not have to worry about the plague doctor or that creepy mask again. I pulled away and wiped away the tears. Sam smiled at me, showing his whitened teeth. It was almost like it was yesterday when I had been sent on this mission to save my brother but also to stop the witch. "Okay, now that we dealt with that, we have to go back to the kitchen and get some salt water."
"Why salt water?" I asked.
"Because that is the only way to stop this demonic creature, and if we can trap him in a circle of salt, there's no way he can get out," Sam continued. "We also need to do is that. We have to set a trap for that witch. She's been torturing my soul ever since I got stuck with her in my childhood." I nodded and together, my brother and I left the room and did our best to avoid Chucky at all costs. For a few minutes it was smooth sailing, but the minute we heard plastic feet we picked up the pace. I turned and told my brother to get into the kitchen. The minute that I turned around, Chucky stood at the end of the room ready with a knife in his hand. I closed my eyes and placed my hands together and concentrated until I felt my energy grow into a large ball of light. I had forgotten that I had this ability for the longest time, so now it was time for me to go through and use it rather than running. I was tired of being chased, tired of being shown as weak. I was done. I thought about my family, thought about my brother and the light glowed but I heard Chucky laughing in the background.
"You really think that this is going to work?" Chucky mocked. "You're nothing more than a sad excuse for a brother, you left your brother alone at that pond and because of that it got himself caught by my mistress," he continued but I ignored him doing my best to bring up my powers I could feel it growing getting bigger and heavier. "And now, you're dead!" I opened my eyes and saw Chucky charging right at me, but with a swift move of my hand, a bright beam shot out of it. Chucky yelled as the light attacked him. Exhausted, the light died down and Chucky was nothing more than burned plastic, still smoking from the blast. I looked at my hands and smiled, but that victory had been short-lived, I heard a crash coming from the kitchen, forgetting my brief victory, I raced into the kitchen to find the witch had come home and my brother was on the floor. The witch wore torn and faded clothing and her hair looked like a bear had mauled her. Either I was imagining things or she looked like she had gotten old.
"You stupid, worthless servant!" the witch yelled. I reached over and grabbed a cane that was leaning against the counter. "You had one job! And you failed me!"
"Get away from me, lady!" Sam yelled and backed away.
"Hey!" I exclaimed. The witch turned and saw me. I had snuck up on her from behind, so I swung the cane and struck her in the head. "That's for stealing my brother and his soul!" The witch had fallen, knocked unconscious through the strength of the cane. I walked over to my brother and helped him up. "Are you okay, little brother?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks De." Sam said. The witch stirred a few moments later, but before she could escape, I reached into my back pocket and pulled out iron cuffs, and cuffed the witch's wrists behind her back.
"Don't move." I said. "You know how much money your bounty was?" I whispered in her ear. "Over a thousand."

Once the witch was captured I called it in letting Castiel and Claire know the witch was not in my custody. After everything that had happened to me, I was glad that I had dealt with it, even though it took a whole week to get the witch. I was just glad that my brother was safe and sound. The bounty police arrived, and I watched as Cass and Claire come out from the truck and made their way over.
"Good job Dean," Castiel said. "Even though it took you over a week, at least we finally got the witch and it looks like you also got your brother back."
"Yeah, turns out my brother ended up stuck in the body of a bird." I responded. Claire raised an eyebrow as if she was looking at me like I was nothing more than someone on the chopping board. "Don't ask, so what happens now?"
"Now, we take her in and you get your money," Castiel said, but I just shook my head. I didn't care about the money. I was only glad that I got my brother back.
"Hey Cass," I say just as Cass started making his way toward the truck with the witch in tow. "Don't worry about the money. However, I wanted to thank you for helping me get through this and helping me find my brother."
"Your welcome, but next time Dean, don't take forever." Cass laughed and turned back to his daughter before going into the truck and driving away. With my brother back, we walked over to the Uber and climbed into the backseat.
"So where to?" The driver asked as he turned to look at us.
"Back to the airport, please. I think it's time the Winchesters reunited." the driver nodded and drove away from the house. I stared through the back window until the house in New Orleans became small.
