Chapter Ten: A New Plan

With the two of them out of the room, I crawled out from my hiding place and snapped pictures of the sections. I turned and left the hidden room; I wondered what other dolls those two had in store and now I had to figure out what to do about getting my brother back. Rather than staying cooped up in the house I snuck away from it and made my way into town, if I was going to defeat all the dolls or whatever my enemies throw at me this time I would make sure nothing goes wrong especially going after the enemy and finally arresting her. I called for an Uber and traveled into New Orleans, unsure of what I'd find there, I knew what I needed to get and one of those things that I needed to get was some sort of answer and how I would finally put my brother's soul back into his body. Upon arriving in the town, it had been bustling with businesses, people going through the areas and buying things. Some of them, despite their being machines, still went to areas that didn't have them. There was one place I walked over to. It had been a psychic.

I walked over to the nearby tent that had a lot of different designs, mostly special designs except for a few designs such as a strange eye, which I didn't think was at all creepy. I stepped into the tent, which all around me there were crystals on the shelves, along with a few other things that a psychic would normally have. I didn't really believe that this person was for real. I believed that maybe someone could help me out. I was running out of ideas and whatever the next challenge came; I needed to be prepared.

"Can I help you?" an older woman with golden locks and wearing a long velvety dress swayed out of the room and through the beaded curtain.

"Are you Madam Dubois?" I asked. "Aren't you supposed to be a psychic?"

"That is correct, Dean Winchester." I gasped. I looked at my body to see if I had a name tag but thankfully I didn't, so I got confused at how the woman knew who I was. "I suppose by that look on your face, you're confused at how I knew your name?"

"Um.." I said, staring dumbfounded.

"I can read your mind, dumbass," Madam Dubois said. "I know what you came to look for."

"And what might that be?" I asked. Madam Dubois laughed and sat down at the table. I kept my guard up just to be on the safe side, especially since I didn't know what she planned to do. But if she could indeed read my mind, then maybe she could help me get my brother back. I knew where he was. The only handicap was to give Sam his soul back.

"Well, you ninny? What are you waiting for?" Madam Dubois complained. I rolled my eyes. If she continued to talk to me like I was an idiot, then I planned to get back at her. Taking in a few deep breaths, I walked over to the table and sat down. I glanced up at Dubois and had now seen what she wore and what was on her skin. Tattoos mainly, a whole sleeve with a lot of different symbols, some of which were snakes and a strange symbol, almost like a cat. I remained silent and sat down, glancing then and now at Dubois, who sat in front of me. I remained quiet as Dubois grabbed a set of tarot cards and started shuffling them around. Three cards dropped from the shuffle, but they were faced down, so I did not know what it hid behind them. Once the three cards fell, Dubois placed her stack down just as she slid the cards toward me. "Flip them over."

I narrowed my eyes at the witch, but nodded my head and flipped each card over. The first card scared the crap out of me. It had the devil on the front and it was upright. Then there were the other two cards, one with a queen and cups, the other with a fool. I looked up at Dubois, waiting for an explanation. She looked at it with concentration, like she wanted to see if it would speak to her. I opened my mouth to say something, but she held her hand up.

"Well, from the looks of things, this message is quite clear." Dubois said.

"Well?" I asked. "Can you explain it to me?" Dubois placed a manicured hand on the devil's card and slid it back.

"You've got the Devil. It shows that you are trapped," she explained. "but then there are these two cards," Dubois pointed at the queen of cups and the fool. "The queen of cups upright symbolizes loving nature, and it doesn't have to mean a significant other, it can mean a sibling or a brother, last, you also got the fool which is also upright, the fool symbolizes freedom," she kept going. "Which means, right now, your brother is in bondage. He's trapped, trapped in the body of an animal, but it takes someone who's strong, loving and caring to free him from his bondage to sound simple?" I opened my mouth to say something, then closed it, focusing as much as I could and thinking about all the things that could happen. The more I thought about it, the more I realized out of everything, Sam had been right in front of me the entire time. The question was, how could I get Sam's soul back into his body if the damn thing was in a bird? Of course, If I was right, then that same bird should show up and guide me with anything that I could get help for. I smiled and thanked Dubois, getting up from the chair. I paid her a ten thankfully and walked out of the tent. Just as expected, I turned to find the bird that contained Sam's soul on the sign to Madam Dubois' tent.

"Sammy?" I questioned. "Is that actually you trapped in there?" the bird chirped as if it understood me. If it did, I had no way of knowing. "Will you help me?" The bird jumped into the air and flew down the trail. I followed it, determined to figure out where it was going to lead me. I got led right back to the house and toward the shed. Confused, I wondered where Sam had been going with this, if it was him. The bird flew in and I followed. Thankfully, he didn't go too far, and landed on the floor nearest to a table. "What did you find?" I kneeled and felt around the floor for something until I pushed down on a loose board, pulling my hands away I pressed my left temple and instantly scanned the boards right where I had pushed down on the floorboards set underneath them were large objects, I couldn't make out what it was but I had to know. Shutting down the scanner, I pulled out my switchblade and opened it, sticking the blade under the wood. I loosened it more until it finally came undone. I gasped when I saw what had been hidden. It was a leather-bound book, with Latin written on it. I opened it and read through some pages. "This is a book of spells! Sammy, you're a genius!"

"Right, and that would be quite enough." Surprised by the sudden voice, I turned around and standing behind me was a doll with stitches all over its face and it wore a striped shirt with overalls. His hair was orange and messy and in his hand was a knife. "You have given us quite the problem, but they have summoned me to stop you. The names Chucky and I've got to ask, how do you wanna die?"
