After today's failure, I believe we'll be using our money to buy new nets instead of leaving. Ragnor and I tired to throw nets on every mermaid that's passed by, but that didn't end up working out. They were either too fast or strong. Ragnor and I also learned that those mermaids that have black tails have razor sharp teeth. We learned that after one of them bit straight through one of the nets. That was not a pleasant surprise. What did they even need those teeth for anyways? They seemed to have weapons that could protect them, but why did they need the teeth? They all seemed to be made for killing only. Maybe it would be best to steer clear of those. "I still think the Rusulka would've been a better idea," Ragnor groaned.

"Yeah well I would like to go home tonight with all of my limbs. Those things are deadly." I shook my head of any thoughts of those things. They were horrifying, and I never wanted to see them again. Going out at night and running into one isn't pleasant.

"And these things aren't? They have sharp teeth, weapons, weird markings, and black tails. I would not want to be I'm th water with one of those around."

I wrapped an arm around my green haired friend. "Be a little more optimistic, Ragnor. Maybe it won't kill you right away."

"You're right. Maybe it'll call on its mermaid friends and drown me instead of giving me a quick death." I gave him a look that told him to stop. He knows he shouldn't say that. He rubbed the back of his head. "Right. Sorry about that." I rolled my eyes and rested my elbows on the rails. While I do think the ocean is beautiful, I'm also deadly afraid of it. I've never swam in the ocean. I've never wanted to. Then I thought about the fact that we had gotten absolutely no work done today. Well, that's one less paycheck and one more scolding from the boss. If only it would literally rain money. That'd be nice.

Ragnor shook me out of my daydream. "Magnus! Dream at night, we might have our chance now." He then got to a whisper. "Magnus, look at that." He barely leaned over the railing but it was enough to see what he was showing me. There was a merman just floating there. Why he was floating there doing nothing, I have no idea. But he was beautiful. Those black markings stood out on his perfectly pale skin. He had a mop of pitch black hair that was extremely messy and long. I'm guessing that's what your hair looks like when you live in the ocean. Or maybe it was just him. I didn't know why I was so mesmerized by him. He obviously wasn't a Siren, as he presented as male. He couldn't be a Trition, the male counterparts of Sirens, because he was carrying a sword and had the black tail of those...other merfolk. I'm still not sure what they are.

Ragnor smacked the back of my head. "Magnus! Stop zoning out on me!" Ragnor's yells certainly daughter the attention of the Merman. That's when he looked up at us, suddenly aware of us. The thing that really put caught my attention where his eyes. They were a clear blue that matched the water. He certainly had me enchanted. He didn't even have to open his mouth to put me into a trance.

The Merman quickly swam away as soon as he saw us. He disappeared into the water without a trace. "What the hell was that! We had our chance and you blew it!" Ragnor snapped at me. I truthfully didn't know what to tell him. Of course, Ragnor knew how promiscuous I was, but if I tell him that the reason I let the Merman swim away was because I was attracted to him, I'd never hear the end of it. Well, Ragnor didn't have to react so loudly to it. The poor boy must've been startled, yet we were going to catch him. He did have a good reason for swimming away from us, but no way I was going to mention that to Ragnor. However, that Merman was ripped. While he swam away, I did appreciate how his muscles rippled under the water. There was no way I could ignore him. Ragnor should expect that from me, yet I guess that it would've been a good idea to cash in. Well, we have plenty on time for that. Even though I want to leave this hell as bad as he does

"Do you want me to be honest? Because I'm not going to be." Ragnor rolled his eyes and told me to get on with it. "I was thinking about how much I love your hair." I added a cheeky wink to seal the deal, but this is Ragnor. He just threw up his hands, exasperated.

"Sometimes, I wonder what I'm going to do with you. You are intolerable."

I grinned at him. "You know you love me." He sighed again and walked away from me. "While you're over there, please help me come up with an excuse to tell Eko for ruining all of our nets." Our boss was not going to be happy with this.

"I'm not sure. Just tell him we ran into some net-eating sharks." We both laughed. We hope he'll believe that.

That night I laid in my bed, restless. After being awaken by another nightmare, I couldn't seem to get back to sleep. But the thing that bothered me the most was that this time it wasn't the same as the others. This time he wasn't there. Usually my nightmares are different variations of the same situation, but this time it wasn't. This time, I was pulled under the surface of the water, as usual, but the thing that instead of him pulling me under the surface, it was the Merman. I'm not sure why my subconscious replaced him with the Merman, and I would honestly like to know. Maybe it's because he's connected to the water, and that's what frightened me. He's from the ocean, and my encounter with him today certainly left an impression on me. He can't be that bad, can he? He's just a Merman, a Merman who wields swords, has razor sharp teeth, and could probably kill me. Yeah, he's probably friendly. I'm still wondering why my mind would come up with that, but I stop questioning myself before my head starts to hurt.

After some more moving and thrashing, I decide that this will be another sleepless night. But it because that blue-eyed Merman caught my attention.

Its been almost a month since I updated oops. Well I'm free now so I'm hoping to get back to updating, but I get exhausted at 9 so updates will probably be once every two weeks. Sorry I just don't have much time anymore. Vote, comment, and stay awesome.
