Through the Red Brick Wall
About a week after Harry's trip with Hagrid to Diagon Alley, he received a package by owl, which turned out to be from Draco.
The young Malfoy heir had sent him a book, called 'The Most Ancient and Noble Houses of Magic', which detailed the different wizarding families, focusing heavily on the ones that had been pureblood for centuries. The attached letter explained that the book held knowledge that was common among wizarding families that had three to four generations of wizards, and Draco had kindly thought that Harry shouldn't be left in the dark, since he would be rejoining the wizarding world for the first time since his parents' deaths.
Harry had been flipping through the huge tome in between reading his text books, and found it quite fascinating.
That had been two weeks ago. Now he was hurrying through Kings cross station. Draco had said in his letter that he and his parents would help Harry through the barrier onto platform nine and three quarters. Harry wasn't all that sure what Draco had meant, so he was hoping he could find the Malfoys, and wouldn't end up having to find his own way into the platform.
Thankfully, he managed to spot a man with long silvery-blond hair that reminded him of Draco's. Harry hurried over, hoping it wasn't just a random Muggle. He let out a silent sigh of relief, when he got close enough to spot Draco standing beside the man who was definitely his father.
"Draco!" Harry called out, now that he was sure he had found the right person.
The platinum blond haired eleven year old turned at the sound of his name, and actually smiled slightly when he had caught sight of Harry.
"Harry!" He beckoned Harry over, "This is my father, Lucius Malfoy. Father, this is Harry Potter."
Lucius was an older version of Draco; pale, pointed face, icy gray eyes, and almost silvery blond hair. Unlike Draco, he had an air about him, that made it abundantly clear that he held quite a lot of power, and knew exactly how to use it. Mr. Malfoy extended his hand, a polite smile on his lips, though it still seemed reasonably friendly.
"Mr. Potter. Draco has told me about meeting you. It's a shame, that the heir to such an old magical family grew up without any knowledge of your heritage. I'm sure you'll pick it up soon enough."
Harry shook the proffered hand, returning Mr. Malfoy's smile with a nervous one of his own.
"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Malfoy."
Lucius nodded, placing a hand on Draco's shoulder as he let go of Harry's.
"We should head onto the platform, boys. Narcissa will be wondering where we are."
Harry pushed the trolley with his trunk and Hedwig's cage in front of him, as he followed the two Malfoys. From the back, Draco was a perfect miniature of his father, though his ponytail barely reached the collar of his shirt. They both wore well tailored black robes, and matching black silk ribbons confined their well kept locks.
They all approached the barrier between platforms nine and ten. Harry was a little nervous, but trusted that the two wizards knew where they were going. When they walked purposely towards the stone wall, without slowing in the slightest, Harry slowed a little, worries beginning to make themselves properly known. He had just come to a halt, when the Malfoys walked straight into the wall-
And vanished.
Harry did a double take, glancing around at the other people bustling through the train station.
It seemed no one had noticed the two people who just walked through a brick wall. Harry pushed his trolley right up to the bricks. With a deep breath, Harry closed his eyes, and pushed his trolley into the wall. It rolled forward, and he kept walking.
Opening his eyes, Harry let out a surprised gasp. In front of him was a long, scarlet train engine, with large gold letters on the side proclaiming it as the Hogwarts Express. Glancing behind him, Harry saw a wrought-iron archway that had Platform Nine and Three-Quarters carved into the top. He'd done it. Really done it. He was going to Hogwarts.
"Come on, Harry!" Draco said, beckoning Harry towards his parents.
Narcissa Malfoy had the same regal air as her husband, though her smile was much softer as she shook Harry's hand.
"You must be Harry Potter. Draco's said so much about you, it's hard to imagine you didn't know each other before a month ago."
Harry wasn't sure what to say to that, so he simply nodded, unused to the warmth in Mrs. Malfoy's voice.
"Narcissa, the train will leave in a few minutes." Mr. Malfoy gently reminded his wife, placing a hand on her arm.
Narcissa nodded, and turned to Draco, pulling him into one last hug. Draco grumbled about embarrassing him, but leaned into his mother's embrace. Harry tried not to stare. He felt awkward, intruding on this family moment, but he wasn't sure what he should do to excuse himself.
His dilemma was solved, when Narcissa released her son, and hugged Harry as well. Harry froze in shock. He might've once been held, but he certainly didn't remember it. After a moment of uncertainty, he briefly returned the hug, before they both pulled away from each other.
"Have a good term. Don't forget to write, Draco."
Draco nodded. Mr. Malfoy shook Harry's hand again, then pulled out his wand and used it to lighten Harry's trunk. Draco took hold of one of the handles, while Harry grabbed Hedwig's cage, and followed Draco onto the train.
Draco lead Harry to a compartment that already had Draco's things, and lifted Harry's trunk into the storage space. Harry took a seat by the window, and set Hedwig next to him.
Finally, they were on their way.
Image the train had a stage in each compartment just for students' luggage. Ridiculous.
