Chapter 6
-
Jungkook hated the wealthy life he was tossed into.
Yes. Tossed into.
You see, Jungkook is adopted. He was an orphan, a baby that the nuns had found stranded on the church steps, an omega with no other werewolf scent.
It wasn't uncommon. Omegas was usually unwanted by most families, an Alpha child being the preferred choice.
He grew up in the orphanage until the age of 7, living his life perfectly with the bare minimums the orphanage could provide.
His adoptive parents, the Jeons had visited the orphanage to donate some items, when they had first met the shy sweet omega, who at the age of 7, was busy reading a children's book, struggling to pronounce most of the words, yet trying his best.
Unlike other children, this omega wasn't busy playing, or running around. No. The small omega was determined to learn those new words, determined to finish the book so that he may finally be able to know how the story ends.
The jeons had been endeared with the omega child, their heart warming with the adorable way the child was brokenly trying to pronounce those words on the pages.
The Jeons didn't have any children, unable to conceive. They weren't planning on adopting a child just yet, but when they saw Jungkook, their hearts knew he was the one.
So that's how sweet and shy Omega Jungkook got adopted at the tender age of 7.
Entering a world of luxury was really intimidating. While the Jeons tried their best to make Jungkook feel comfortable, the younger boy was content with just the bare minimums.
He never asked for expensive gifts, infact he never asked for any gifts. He never asked for money, nor expensive food.
All the boy ever asked for were new books.
Stories he could read.
The Jeons were truly grateful to have found such an innocent and selfless child to call their own.
They weren't Jungkook's biological parents, but they treated Jungkook nothing less than a real child.
That's why they never forced Jungkook to be involved in their luxury life. That is until Jungkook finally graduated from university.
They had only one wish, that Jungkook would take over their company, seeing as Jungkook was the sole heir afterall.
But Jungkook was never interested.
Right now, Jungkook felt so out of place, yet once again.
He was dressed in a white suit, courtesy of Jin hyung, his face adorned with a little bit of makeup, his newly cut hair perfectly styled.
For the first time, Jungkook was wearing all his piercings, something that Jin hyung had been adamant on.
" don't hide your piercings Jungkook-ah. It looks good. Trust me. "
Jungkook did trust Jin, a lot henceforth why he had agreed.
And perhaps it was because he felt a tad bit guilty.
He had been ignoring Jin for a little over a week now. After Taehyung had asked him to stay away from his family, Jungkook had tried every way to do just that.
But Jin was persistent, showing up at Jungkook's house in the early hours of the morning, dragging a half asleep Jungkook to the mall to get a suit and a much needed haircut.
He had spend the whole day with the younger, going as far as to take him to his house so that they could get ready together to attend this party.
A party Jungkook had no interest in.
Jimin's birthday party.
What's ironic is that this party was organized by... you guessed it... his very own mate and Husband, Kim Taehyung.
Taehyung never celebrated Jungkook's birthday, never even wished him. And here his husband was, throwing a huge party for his Jimin.
Jungkook felt bitter, no doubt, but he is also too pure so he did get Jimin a gift, an expensive one considering how Jimin loves brand.
Jungkook would never want to ruin anyone's special day, so he smiled as genuinely as he possibly could, approaching the birthday boy.
"Jimin hyung. Happy birthday", Jungkook wished the elder, hugging him gently.
Jimin beamed, "thank you Jungkookie. You look wonderful. Did you get an undercut?"
Jungkook nodded, " Yes hyung, Jin hyung insisted I get a haircut, saying I was starting to look homeless"
Jimin laughed, endeared.
"That's really not true. You could never look homeless. You are absolutely beautiful Jungkook-ah"
Their conversation was interrupted by Taehyung, who had approached them and placed a hand on Jimin's shoulders.
"Hey", Taehyung greeted Jimin, while turning around to glare at Jungkook.
"Jungkook was just wishing me. Your husband is so sweet Tae. You are really lucky", Jimin beamed as he smiled brightly.
Taehyung scoffed, "pretty sure he is the lucky one here. And don't be fooled by his looks. Jungkook is anything but sweet"
Jimin looked scandalized. "Tae, that's.. that's no way to talk about your mate"
Before Taehyung could speak again, Jungkook spoke up, "it's alright Jimin hyung. I'll take my leave now. I just wanted to wish you. Have a great night"
Without waiting for any of their response, he walked away, going to find Jin who stood by the food aisle with Namjoon.
"Hyung. Can I go home now? I'm not feeling so good"
Jin looked worried as he glanced behind Jungkook to see Taehyung and Jimin talking discreetly.
"Ofcourse Jungkookie, but you just got here. Stay a while if you can?"
Jungkook hesitated, but agreed. Yes. He had just got here. Leaving like this would seem rude and Jungkook didn't want to make anyone mad.
"Alright hyung. I'll stay for a bit. "
The party continued, Jimin cutting the cake and feeding Taehyung.
It seemed normal. Only it wasn't.
People started to notice the way Taehyung was with Jimin. Many of them were talking about the pair, hinting at an affair.
Jungkook frowned as his ears picked up on some of the chatter.
There wasn't anything he could do about it except tolerate it.
Jin may have sensed the same, for he excused himself, going to Jimin and taking him aside for a talk.
"Jimin. Tell me something. Are you and Taehyung having an affair?", Jin was direct to the point.
Jimin looked mortified. "What ? No hyung. Ofcourse not. Why would you say that?"
Jin snorted. "It's not just me who is thinking that. People in your party have started to talk. The way you and Taehyung are behaving is like lovers. Do you not see it?"
Jimin frowned. "I- we always behaved like this hyung. It's not anything new. "
"Yes. It's not anything new. The difference is that Taehyung has a mate. A husband now. Do you not understand that? I tried to talk some sense into Taehyung but he is so fucking stupid. I thought you will notice his behavior and stop it but you are just the same. Dumb and dumber. You really are the perfect bestfriends. Hurting the innocent boy who has done nothing but be kind to you. Taehyung keeps hurting his mate and you keep hurting an innocent soul. Just how much worse can you get? Flaunting your affection for Taehyung like that infront of his mate?"
Jimin suddenly grew quiet, tears filling his eyes, toppling down his cheeks. He realized now just how wrong he was.
Jin took a deep breath, calming himself down.
"Look Jimin. I won't beat around the bush. Taehyung has been rejecting Jungkook since the very beginning because he is too caught up in his affection for you. And you have done nothing but encourage him. Jungkook's omega is dying. He hasn't said anything about it but the signs are there. I saw them. Please. Stop all this now. You are Taehyung's bestfriend. Show him the right way. One day you will find your mate. What will happen to Taehyung then?"
"Jungkook is too selfless. He will never complain. He is too pure and innocent and anything that Taehyung throws his way, he will take it without a word. And I wouldn't have meddled if I didn't notice his condition. If I didn't see him slowly dying. Please. I'm begging you. Don't be a helping hand to Taehyung. Don't take a part in killing Jungkook. That's all I have to say to you. It's your decision now. You are a good omega. You are kind but you are so oblivious sometimes. Think about it. I'll take your leave now. Happy birthday once again"
Jin left to walk up to Jungkook and Namjoon, while Jimin stood there, silently watching Jungkook.
The younger did look paler than usual, skinny even. He looked so weak, so fragile. How could Jimin never notice that?
He realized now the shroud of sadness that was around the young omega. Was always around him. Jimin was just too blind to never notice it.
How could he have hurt a soul like that?
Albeit, he was oblivious. He didn't know the damage he was inflicting by behaving the usual way with Taehyung. He never stopped to think it through.
Why Taehyung always hugged him so close, cuddled him in his house while Jungkook was just in the next room. Why Taehyung fed him the cake instead of Jungkook. Why Taehyung was so rude to Jungkook earlier.
It all made sense now. Taehyung was using him to punish Jungkook.
Taehyung, the sweet, kind and considerate Alpha that Jimin knew was nothing more than cruel to his own soulmate.
And Jimin, he had encouraged that behavior unknowingly.
Fuck. He knows he did so wrong. He realizes it now.
The question is, how the hell will he undo all the pain he has inflicted, unknowingly, for the past 4 years?
Forgive me Jungkook. I'm so fucking sorry.

And thats why dear children, you should always read the character descriptions. 😉
