Chapter 48
-
The room was warm as sunlight flickered through the curtains, two bodies laid tangled together in the sheets, cuddled so close that it wouldn't be easy to tell where one began and the other ended.
The upper portion of their bodies were bare and naked, as one mate slept soundly, content in the warmth of his mate, the other was wide awake, eyes gazing fondly at the beauty that lay infront of him.
Taehyung was simply put, smitten to the core.
Jungkook was beautiful.
Not the usual type of beautiful where soft skin and feminine features determined whether an omega was beautiful enough, but the rare type of beauty, where there was a softness in the omega's features but also strength and grace.
Jungkook was just something straight out of a fairytale.
The Alpha will admit, that he hadn't completely been honest with his mate. There are things he had hidden, previously, in the fear that it will only trigger the omega further, and make those insecurities worse.
But now, that they were both were marked, Taehyung knew there wasn't any way he could hide it. And perhaps, it was time that Jungkook knew that the Alpha did remember him from college.
He remembers the time where he had helped the omega from those bullies, a bunch of Alphas who thought with only their dicks and not their brains. He remembered it all.
It was their first meeting, ofcourse, where they had talked for the first time, but that wasn't the first time he had seen the omega.
Taehyung remembers the day very clearly, the day when he had first laid his eyes on the omega that was lying next to him right now.
The omega was new in college, and it was his first day. Taehyung had stopped dead in his tracks when he had gotten a whiff of that alluring scent. His favorite things, all mixed together to create such a strong scent, so enticing, so welcoming. It felt like the scent was calling to him, willing him to follow it.
And follow it he did.
Taehyung found himself standing on the sidewalks, watching as the omega with the pretty scent opened his locker, struggling with the books in his hands, finally managing to put it all inside.
And Taehyung is sure he stopped breathing when the omega turned and Taehyung saw his face for the first time.
It was like he was straight out of Taehyung's dreams. The Alpha was star struck.
All his life, Taehyung had believed that Jimin was the most beautiful person he had ever seen. Oh how wrong he was.
Because when he saw those doe eyes, that messy, fluffy hair and those pretty lips, adorned with a piercing, he had felt something akin to want in his chest.
The omega wore a leather jacket thrown carelessly over a plain black shirt, the sleeves rolled up, hints of ink peeking through from under those sleeves, the tell-tale signs of a tattoo.
Taehyung remembers how he had panicked when his wolf had aggressively wanted to go to the omega and claim him. Because at that time, his conscious told him that he cannot betray jimin.
And yet, that same night, Taehyung remembers talking to his elder brother, Jin about this angel he saw. A boy with tattoos, big bright doe eyes that sparkled, fluffy hair, a pretty slim waist, and beautiful piercings. He remembers telling Seokjin that angels like that shouldn't exist. It wasn't fair.
Because how can mortals ever be satisfied with ordinary humans when an angel like that walked amongst them?
Jin had just laughed, telling the Alpha that perhaps, Taehyung had just experienced his first crush because the omega was everything Taehyung had dreamt about having in his mate.
Taehyung had adamantly shook his head, furiously denying anything of that sort, because he cannot have a crush on someone he had just met, especially considering Taehyung was supposed to be in love with Jimin.
That was the first time Taehyung saw the omega and even then, he realizes, his wolf knew somehow that the omega was going to be his destiny.
Only if Taehyung wasn't so stupid to try to fight that destiny, things would have been very different right now.
He knows he should have given an inkling that he remembered when Jungkook had repeated the words he had said to the omega on their first meeting back to him, but at that moment, all Taehyung had thought about was that it could trigger Jungkook's trauma. And so, he had shown indifference. That he didn't remember at all.
Jungkook stirred, eyes opening lazily, finding Taehyung already awake and looking at him.
"Goodmorning. What time is it?", he mumbled, a little disoriented, perhaps that's why he hadn't realized their lack of shirts.
"Goodmorning baby", Taehyung pecked the omega's lips, smiling endeared as he saw Jungkook blush slightly, "its nearly 8am"
Jungkook's eyes widen as he sat up, now realizing that he was, infact not wearing a shirt, just like the Alpha and they had been cuddling like this.
He felt his ears heat up, as he plopped down on the bed again with a squeak, pulling the sheets all the way to his neck, covering himself.
Taehyung let out a laugh, hugging the omega from over the sheets, "you are awfully shy for someone who asked to undress and touch me last night"
Jungkook blushed, whining slightly, "please stop teasing me.. I'm embarrassed"
Taehyung laughed again, pressing a soft kiss on the omega's forehead, whispering, "nah uh baby, you cannot be shy with me now. And you don't need to be embarrassed. I promise I won't peek unless you let me"
Jungkook raised an eyebrow at that, "yeah? What if I never let you 'peek'? Then what?"
Taehyung smirked, enjoying this relaxed side of the omega. It was a rare sight, to be able to experience this side of the omega who was always so... well... depressed.
"Oh baby, you will let me peek. Someday. Infact..", Taehyung grazed his teeth on Jungkook's cheek, making Jungkook let out a hiss as those teeth ignited a slight pain mixed with pleasure, "I know you will be begging me to peek"
Jungkook slapped the Alpha lightly, whining and hiding his face under the sheets now, knowing fully well he must look like a tomato. The Alpha was shameless.
Taehyung couldn't help but let out a hearty laughter, enjoying this way too much.
He hugged the omega close, despite the omega being hidden underneath those sheets.
"I have to go to the office baby, so I'm going to freshen up and get dressed. What do you want for breakfast? "
Jungkook mumbled a muffled, "pancakes" to which Taehyung fondly responded, "pancakes it is"
Taehyung got showered, brushed his teeth and started making breakfast, while Jungkook went to shower next. The Alpha got ready, and when Jungkook came to the kitchen to eat his breakfast, Taehyung hugged him, pecking his lips and said his goodbyes.
Jungkook, on the other hand was simply ecstatic.
They both were marked now, and even though they could feel the bond being alive between them, they had closed off each other links. Jungkook still wasn't fully comfortable with keeping the bond open and Taehyung understood that. Also, Jungkook had asked Taehyung to keep his side of the bond closed as well, because he didn't want to feel too overwhelmed.
He was still healing and it will take a little while for his mind to be strong enough for him to finally open the mate bond and fully give in.
Until then, it was gonna be baby steps.

Taehyung entered his office, only to find his brother Jin already inside, waiting for him.
"Hyung..", he began but was cut off by Jin.
"Tell me honestly, don't lie. Did the Jeons abuse Jungkook?"
Taehyung knew there was no avoiding it, firstly because he had blurted out some part of the truth yesterday in his anger and secondly, Jin looked murderous right now, his pheromones very angry.
"Not the Jeons. Just the Grandmother", he answered in a low voice, eyes hesitating to meet his brother's. If there is anyone in the world that Taehyung feared, it was his brother and his temper. An angry Jin was anything but good.
"How long?", Jin asked, gaze almost smoldering.
"Since he was 7", Taehyung said, wincing as Jin's pheromones soured even more.
"How bad?", Jin's voice was too calm, as if he was asking how the weather was.
"Very", Taehyung replied honestly.
Jin stood up, walking out without another word.
"Hyung, where are you going?", Taehyung couldn't help but ask. He knew from personal experience how bad an angry Jin was, especially if anyone hurt his family. And Jungkook was, without any doubt, Jin's baby.
Jin stopped, turned around, giving Taehyung a smirk that scared the shit out of him, and in a calm, collected voice replied,
"To skin an old bitch alive "
