Chapter 3
-
Jungkook had first met Taehyung in college, when he was just 17.
Being an omega that didn't look like the typical omega, he was bullied a lot for his appearance.
Growing up in the small town of Busan, he was used to taunts and harsh words. So when his family moved permanently to Seoul, he was expecting the same treatment in his new college.
And it was the same.
People judged him, some silently, some openly.
They judged his appearance, his attire, his face and his body.
They called him names, taunted him as he walked past. His college life was shitty as fuck.
One day, as he was walking towards his class, a bunch of bullies, alphas to be precise, had cornered him in the hallway, dragging him to the locker room.
He was beaten, was in the process of getting beaten more until he was rescued by another Alpha.
An Alpha that looked like a dream, with the face of an a model, and the voice of a angel.
The Alpha had scared the boys away, helped him get up and even attended to his wounds, before telling him to be strong and leaving. Jungkook hadn't even had the opportunity to thank him.
That was the first time someone (apart from his family) had shown him kindness, apart from Yoongi ofcourse.
The shy and apprehensive omega had felt hope that day. A feeling he wasn't used to experiencing.
That hope had turned into a little crush as he saw the Alpha again, playing basketball on their school's team.
That crush had blossomed into love, slowly, gradually as he saw the Alpha being so kind in so many circumstances.
Taehyung probably didn't even remember him, didn't even remember the omega boy he had saved.
But Jungkook never forgot.
He fell in love from the shadows, silently harboring it in his heart, content with just loving, expecting nothing in return.
You see, werewolves usually found their mates when they turn 20. Granted, if
both the mates have reached the age of 20. So, for 4 years, Jungkook had loved Taehyung, in silence, in secret.
He never imagined finding his mate in the man he had fallen in love with, so innocently.
Yet he did.
It was on his birthday that he found out that the Kim Taehyung he absolutely adored, was his fated mate.
The day was wrong. The situation even worse.
For on that same day, Taehyung was on his knees, proposing to Jimin in the middle of the cafeteria when their eyes had met.
Their wolves had taken over and declared infront of everyone that they were mates, stopping right in the middle of Taehyung's proposal.
The proposal was ruined, Jimin breaking everything off with Taehyung, every feeling that he harbored, everything except their friendship, for Jimin knew, he should never come between two mates.
Jungkook on the other hand, had apologized countless times, going as far as to say that he will reject the soulmate bond so that Taehyung could be happy with Jimin, even if it resulted in his removal from the werewolf society.
Fate wasn't on their side. But then, fate was the reason they were in this mess in the first place.
The news of them being mates had reached both their families, and as a prominent family in the werewolf community, their families forced their hand, resulting in a marriage both knew wouldn't work.
Taehyung never forgave Jungkook. For ruining his proposal. For not rejecting the mate bond, for even existing as his mate. He never forgave and he never forgot.
Jungkook, on the other hand, had to swallow his guilt and live with the burden of knowing that he was the cause of Taehyung's broken heart.
He also never forgot, which is probably why he always took every single harsh word that Taehyung said as a punishment, a punishment he felt like he deserved.
It was cruel. Their first meeting was accidental, one that only Jungkook remembered. Their second meeting a disaster, a cruel prank played by Fate.
Now, they both were stuck together.
-
Jungkook opened his eyes, feeling a few drops of rain fall onto his face as he lay down by the han river.
It was getting dark. Jungkook had spent his day just sitting there, under the tree while looking at the river, enjoying the cool breeze as his fingers typed the words his mind supplied.
His new book.
This book was going to be different from the rest he wrote.
Jungkook knew that.
He was known for writing amazing love stories. The type that makes you cry because of how beautiful it is.
But this book, the one which stares back at him from his laptop screen, this was different. So different.
A tragedy.
That's what it is.
A story about broken hearts, unrequited love.
Jungkook had made the decision to write this after that night of the party.
Perhaps it was his way of therapy. Putting onto paper what his lips wouldn't dare say.
He gathered his things up, gently brushing aside his fringes, his hair getting too long for his liking.
He walked slowly towards his bike, noticing how the rain had started to fall a little harder, but not hard enough to soak him just yet.
Thank God for his waterproof bag.
His steps stopped as his eyes zeroed in on the couple who sat there on the bench.
He noticed how one of them had his head placed gently on the other's chest, while the other played with his partners hair.
A soft kiss was placed on the boy's head, as his partner drew him in a hug.
Comforting.
It looked comforting, so intimate.
Yet Jungkook couldn't breathe. The sight was beautiful to see, had it been some other couple.
But this, this was wrenching Jungkook's heart, making his omega quiet, almost like giving up.
Taehyung and Jimin.
Jungkook could feel the pain his omega was feeling. Yet he couldn't move. His eyes refused to leave that sight, watching as Taehyung whispered something to Jimin, sending the latter into a fit of giggles.
When Taehyung leaned down to kiss Jimin's cheeks, Jungkook abruptly turned around.
He couldn't watch anymore.
His omega was screaming at him to stop his mate. But Jungkook knew he had no right to do that.
No right at all.
Taehyung maybe his soulmate, his fated one, but he wasn't really Jungkook's.
He slowly made his way back to the spot he was sitting on, ignoring how the rain intensified, ignoring how he was getting soaked up. Ignoring how his nose had started bleeding again, ignoring the taste of blood in his mouth. Ignoring all of it.
He sat there, not daring to look back at the bench, even though his brain was telling him that his mate and Jimin must have left by now because of the rain.
Jungkook didn't leave that spot at all, still sitting there, even after the rain had stopped, even after he was fully soaked, even when his body started shivering uncontrollably.
He didn't leave, he couldn't.
How can he go back to the house where his mate is, knowing the man he loved and was fated to be with, was in someone else's arms just hours ago?
Perhaps Jungkook will never learn.
Pain had become a part of him, it was all he seems to feel these days anyway.
-
*peeks from behind the curtains* how was it?
I figured it was best to start with how Jungkook fell for Taehyung, incase you all were wondering...
Angsty enough or you want more angst???
