The heat lasted for an entire week. Jungkook felt like his body had gone through the worst of pains after it was over and he was so fucking grateful when the heat broke. He never wants to go through that much pain again.  Usually heats last for 3 days but because Jungkook had been suppressing his heats for the past 2 years, this one was absolutely brutal and in full force.

He had been staying in Taehyung's room because his omega was craving for Taehyung's scent even more now, especially since he was marked. There was a big nest made on Taehyung's bed with all of Taehyung's clothes and that was the reason why Jungkook was able to get a little amount of sleep.

Jisoo and Sehun, the two omega cousins of Taehyung had been absolute sweethearts at taking care of Jungkook. They made sure he was fed on time and his body heat was under control, well most of the time.

Taehyung had been sending his worn clothes almost every day for Jungkook to use and for once, Jungkook actually appreciated the care that Taehyung showed. Recently worn clothes meant it had the most scent in them and Jungkook's omega needed that very much to be able to feel close to his mate.

Right now, jungkook was showering, still in Taehyung's room. He wrapped a towel around his waist, before getting out of the room to get to the walk in closet to get dressed there.

He was just changing when he heard Taehyung's voice from outside the room.

"Jungkook, baby, can I come in?"

Jungkook bit his lips harshly. That damn "baby" always made his heart rush and no matter how much Jungkook tried to control it, he will admit it made him feel all mushy inside.

"Come in. I'm changing in the closet right now ", He replied, telling his heart to calm the hell down.

He stepped out only to see Taehyung staring at the nest that was still on his bed, a weird look on his face.

"Umm.. I'm sorry. I will get rid of it soon ", Jungkook felt embarrassed. A nest was an intimate thing for omegas. They usually make it for their mate and themselves as an area of comfort.

"It's alright", Taehyung cleared his throat, "You don't have to get rid of it. I was thinking about asking this later but since we are on that topic, uh... would you like to shift into my room?"

Jungkook raised an eyebrow at that. How can Taehyung even think Jungkook would like to share a bed with him after all that he has put him through?

Taehyung may have gotten the implication of his words so he hurriedly explained,"I don't mean share it with me ofcourse. I meant since you are marked, I know your wolf must be craving for my scent all the time and it must be painful for you to endure. So I figured if you stayed in my room then it would be good for you. I'll shift into the guest room......Sorry"

Jungkook let out a bitter chuckle,"you think it's painful for me? I spent 4 years staying alone and dealing with your rejection, 2 years being alone on my heat and you think being away from you now is painful? You really have it all twisted Taehyung. It's not like I can't handle it. I handled worse pain than this so don't worry about me. I'm not shifting in your room. "

Taehyung looked at his mate with guilt and hurt, "Jungkook. Please. I know what I did and I am sorry. I will keep saying sorry until you believe me but please don't put yourself through anymore pain. I already gave you enough of it anyway. Don't put yourself in any more cause of me."

Jungkook shook his head, amused,"Don't worry Taehyung. Like I said, it's nothing I can't handle. I'm not shifting into your room and that's final. So please just let me be"

Taehyung wanted to argue but he also knows that Jungkook is hurting.

"Okay. Fine. Umm.. can you atleast open the mate bond then?"

Jungkook looked at him intensely, as if he was trying to look inside his soul.

"Why? Why do you want me to open the mate bond? You never cared for it before so why now?"

Taehyung walked up to his mate, stopping just 2 steps away from him. His hands were aching to touch Jungkook, aching to pull him in his embrace.

"Because I want to feel it. I want to feel you"

Jungkook laughed, "feel me? All you will feel from the matebond is my hurt and pain Taehyung. Nothing else. Its better this way."

Taehyung took a risk, stepping forward to hold onto Jungkook's waist, making the omega's breath hitch and pressed his forehead on top of his mate's.

"I want to feel it all baby. I want to feel all your pain. All that hurt because I deserve it after all the hell I put you through. It may not mean much but it's my way of repenting. So please open it. "

Jungkook let out a shuddered breath, shrugging Taehyung's arms off himself and stepping back, turning to face the bed.

"No. I don't want to Taehyung. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what your reasons are. I'm not opening the bond. "

Taehyung didn't back down, especially now that he knows he is just on the verge of breaking down Jungkook's resolve by the way Jungkook's voice is cracking.

He walks closer to Jungkook, circling his arms around his mate, putting his head on his shoulders and breathing in that addicting scent.

"Please Jungkook. Just give me this. Open the bond. You are suffering alone for my mistakes, let me suffer with you please. I- I beg of you baby, please... if not your forgiveness, then atleast give me this. Please"

Jungkook let out the sob he was barely trying to keep in, as Taehyung hugged him harder from behind.

"Why are you doing this? Playing with my heart again like this? I won't survive it if you change back to the way you were Taehyung. I- I just... I can't forgive you. Don't you see that?"

Taehyung turned Jungkook to face him, wiping away those tears from Jungkook's cheeks, lips pressing against his forehead.

"I do baby. I do see it and I understand. I know you can't forgive me. And I understand. But.. please.. just give me a chance. One last chance Koo. If- If at any time you feel like I'm not being sincere, then you can break the bond permanently and I won't say anything. But just give one chance baby. To make it right please.  I want to be with you.  I want to stay with you. I want to get to know you and learn to love you baby. Please. I'm begging you ", Taehyung pleaded, tears falling down his face as well, matching Jungkook's.

Jungkook's couldn't control his sobs, his emotions were all over the place and yet his heart was telling him to just trust Taehyung once. Just once.

To be honest, Jungkook was tired of feeling like this. The anger and hurt, the hatred. It was all too much and too hard for Jungkook to bear. Hating someone and holding a grudge is never easy. It weighs down on a person's heart, making it impossible to feel free and happy.

"I'm not forgiving you. But- but I will give you a chance. Please don't break my trust Taehyung. Please don't break me again"

Taehyung let out a cry of joy as he hugged Jungkook tightly against himself. He was so happy, just hearing that Jungkook will finally give him a chance, it meant everything to him in that moment.

"I swear baby. I swear on my life. I'll treat you right this time. I won't lie and say that I love you because I'm not even sure what love means. But I promise you that I care for you. And I'll learn to love you. And treat you with all the respect in the world. You are my one and only Koo. And I promise I'll try my best to earn your forgiveness."

Jungkook didn't say anything. Just stayed there in his mate's embrace, finally feeling a huge weight lift from his chest.

He was scared, no doubt. Trusting Taehyung meant risking getting hurt again. But for how long will he keep avoiding it? Taehyung is his mate. Jungkook has to give him a chance someday.

And honestly, Jungkook is tired. So just this once, he will put a little faith in his mate. A little trust. He is not going to forgive Taehyung yet, because the wounds of the past are still fresh, but he can give Taehyung a chance to atleast try to fix it. So he will trust him with his heart, just this once.

With the hope that Taehyung doesn't break it this time.

I know, many of you will say it's too early to give Taehyung a chance. But think of it like this, Taehyung cannot repent if Jungkook doesn't even give him a chance.

For Taehyung to fix anything, Jungkook needs to be willing to accept it. Because if jungkook doesn't give him a chance, anything that taehyung does will be meaningless.

So by giving Taehyung a chance, Jungkook is going to risk his heart.  If Taehyung succeeds in gaining Jungkook's trust and love again, then they will have a happy ending ofcourse. They will learn to love one another gradually, and it will be deeper than ever before.

If Taehyung fails, then atleast Jungkook won't have any regrets that he never gave Taehyung a chance anyway.

So hope that helps you understand. Human emotions are complex. But being bitter and holding grudges won't get you anywhere. Maybe don't forgive but don't lose hope for a better result as well.
