The room was filled with people. Jungkook's parents, Taehyung's parents, Jin, Namjoon, Hoseok, Yoongi, Jimin and finally Taehyung. All of who were there to take Jungkook home.

He was finally getting discharged. 

Jungkook felt suffocated. It was too overwhelming, and not in a good way.

He just wanted to be alone. Was it too much to ask for?

Yoongi glared at Taehyung, raising his eyebrows in a mocking action, as if challenging him.

"Jungkook's coming with me and Jimin. I'm taking him to America. I think it's best he stays away from this toxic place. He needs to heal."

Jungkook's parents agreed, wanting to see their son away from all this mess.

Taehyung's parents, however, wanted to take the omega with them, saying they could take care of their son in law until he was ready to make a final decision.

Jin was against the whole thing. He honestly just wanted to see Jungkook be free from all this toxicity, so he was kind of on board with Yoongi's idea.

Namjoon and Hoseok were silent, not really giving any input.

Taehyung was another story. The Alpha hadn't said anything. Neither agreeing nor denying.

He hadn't even given any reaction to Yoongi's mocking.

"We can take care of him. He's our son in law. I know we were at fault for not noticing what was going on but give us a chance. Taking him away from here to an unfamiliar place may not be good for his omega who is newly marked. Surely you can understand that?", Taehyung's mother argued.

Yoongi scoffed rudely," another chance? No way. He is leaving and that's final. I won't listen to your poor excuses and apologies."

Jungkook couldn't take it anymore.

"All of you shut up ", he snapped, his anger getting the best of him.

The others were bewildered. They had never seen Jungkook's lose his cool like that. The omega never talked to anyone in a high tone, let alone yell out like that.

"It's my life. My choice. You are my family, yes, but at the end of the day it's my decision.  So stop deciding for me."

Yoongi looked away guiltily.  He was at fault here, he will admit that. In his anger, he had forgotten that Jungkook was in the room and that he should have asked him first.

"I'm sorry for not asking you first Jungkook. But please consider my offer. Going away from here for sometime will be good for you.", Yoongi pleaded.

Jungkook shook his head in a soft "no".

"I'm not leaving. And I'm not going to stay with anyone else either."

Yoongi protested but was silenced by Jungkook again.

"Please. I don't want to argue. I'm tired and all I want to do right now is go home and rest. And I'm talking about my mate's house."

Yoongi was perplexed.  What was wrong with his bestfriend? Surely, Jungkook wasn't going to be stupid and go back to that hellhole.

"But Jungkook, think it through please "

Jungkook exhaled, feeling drained by the conversation. He doesn't have the energy to try to explain his decision, hardly expecting anyone to understand it anyway.

"Please. I know why you think it's not a good idea for me to stay with my mate. But I survived for four years, I can do it again. I'm not Taehyung. I know what will happen if I reject the mate bond by staying away from him. So please, just let me be"

Everyone went silent at that.

Taehyung couldn't help but feel even more guilty now. Even after all the hurt he put Jungkook through, the omega was still thinking about him.

It was unbelievable how pure the omega was.

Taehyung was really an idiot for not realizing that sooner.

"Excuse me", Doctor Seojoon suddenly spoke, standing awkwardly on the doorway. "I am sorry for interrupting your um...discussion, but I need to talk to Jungkook and Taehyung before they leave. Preferably alone please"

Jungkook nodded, not wanting to continue the discussion they were having earlier. The others left the room, leaving only the two mates with Doctor Seojoon.

"What did you want to talk about, Doctor-nim?", Jungkook asked softly, taking a seat on his bed, eyes still refusing to meet Taehyung's.

The omega hasn't spared the Alpha one glance since they all piled into his room and he was going to keep it that way.

He couldn't bear to look at the Alpha without punching him, but then again, Taehyung deserved it.

Taehyung, on the other hand, was dying for just one look from the omega. He wanted to see those doe eyes, but he knew that Jungkook was hurting.

Doctor Seojoon cleared his throat, preparing himself for the awkward conversation he was about to initiate.

"I'm sorry if this makes you two uncomfortable but as Jungkook's Doctor, I need to have this conversation."

Jungkook frowned but he still nodded while Taehyung didn't say anything but his attention was fully on the doctor now.

"Jungkook, be honest with me, when was the last time you experienced your heat?"

Jungkook wasn't expecting that question. He evaded his eyes from Seojoon's, looking at the floor as his heartbeat went haywire.

He was clearly very uncomfortable. He felt himself relax as calming pheromones filled the air, and Jungkook noticed that it was Taehyung's.

"Um", he hesitated before answering, " it was 2 Years ago. I haven't had my heat in the last two years. "

Taehyung was staring at Jungkook now.

Omega's not going into heat was a rare thing. Usually an Omega goes into heat every 6 months.

So for Jungkook to not have gone into heat for 2 years was a big deal.

Seojoon frowned.

"Do you know why that is? Have you visited a doctor for a checkup?"

Jungkook nodded, "I did. They said that because my omega was alone on our heats after meeting our mate, he had felt dejected and unwanted. That's why my omega shut off his primal instincts which triggered the heat"

Taehyung looked shocked at that information. How did he never notice Jungkook's lack of heat?

But then again, when had he ever noticed anything about his omega before?

He was such a sorry excuse of a mate.

Seojoon looked sadly at Jungkook, "You do know what happens when an omega suppresses his heats right?"

Jungkook poked the insides of his cheek, heart constricting in pain.

"Yeah. It harms the omega's chances of conceiving in the future"

Seojoon nodded, "Yes. Not only that, it also weakens the wolf. One of the reasons why your wolf was so weak was because of holding back his natural instincts. Heat is something that wolves have to go through because it's in their nature, its their natural instinct", Seojoon looked directly at Taehyung as he said that. He wanted the Alpha to know what his actions had pushed the omega to do.

"I asked you this because you didn't go into heat as a wolf normally does after a forced marking. You need to have your heat Jungkook. It's not healthy and it will only harm your health as well as your omega. You need to talk to your omega and persuade him to trigger the heat. "

Jungkook looked conflicted, his brows furrowed. Seojoon sighed.

"I understand that you are hesitant.  I heard you chose to still stay with your mate after everything that had happened so I'm assuming you will not reject him. I know you need time to open up and heal. I'm not saying that you two have to mate. I'm simply asking you to let your heat happen naturally as it's supposed to. "

Jungkook still looked worried so Taehyung spoke up.

"Is there any way for his heat to not be painful? I know he doesn't want me anywhere near him, especially during his heat because of my Alpha's natural instincts, so is there any way to lessen the pain?"

Jungkook didn't say anything, not even acknowledging Taehyung's question nor giving any reaction.

It was like Taehyung was invisible to him.

"There is. He can have another omega take care of him by helping him with his body temperature etc. We have special pills that help an omega lessen the pain of heat to some extent, but it won't fully stop it"

Jungkook perked up at that. Any solution was better than to have to spend his heat with Taehyung.

There was no way in hell he was going to let Taehyung touch him. Even if it meant suffering through the pain of heat without any help or pills.

"I can do that then. I'll try to persuade my omega Doctor-nim. "

Seojoon smiled happily. "That's good. But if you still can't then you will need Taehyung to trigger it but it will require him to tease at your mate mark "

"No", Jungkook snapped, shaking his head firmly.

"I'll try to talk to my omega but if he doesn't listen then we leave it at that. There is no way in hell I'm letting that man touch me"

There was so much venom in Jungkook's tone that Taehyung felt bile flood his mouth. Those words made an ugly feeling raise in his chest, ache spreading through his body.

"There is no way in hell I'm letting that man touch me"

Was this how Jungkook felt whenever Taehyung rejected him?

Also I just realized that the marking scene in undocile also didn't involve consent like the marking scene in this book.

What's wrong with my brain that it wrote two marking scenes without consent?  Is this a weird fetish or something?

I think my brain is broken to some extent 😒
