Prologue: Hush
"Paint it on a little thicker
This night is deeply spreading
So I can't escape
I'm closing my eyes and looking for you inside of me" Shangri-la by VIXX, 2017
It was a chilly night in September when it happened.
BTS had just finished their first successful showcase in Seoul. They were saying goodbye to their fans and exiting off the stage.
They posted their thank you picture from the concert and everyone was getting ready to leave.
"Hobi-hyung! Hobi-hyung!" Jimin clung onto Hoseok, one of the elder members, his eye smile prominent on his face.
"Aish, Jiminie... You scared me!" Hoseok said, ruffling the elder maknaes hair.
"I just wanted to hug one of my favorite hyung's is all!"
Jimin dashed off, most likely to bother some other member and give them plenty of love and energy after a tiring concert. It was commonplace for Jimin to do this. Sometimes he didn't burn enough energy on stage, so he tried burning it off backstage with the other members.
No one knew that would be the last time they'd get to see that beautiful smile.
There was a sudden power outage all over the venue, the entire venue had shut down and no one had a way out with how dark it was.
They deemed it unsafe for anyone to leave without any form of security while the maintenance worked on getting the lights back on.
The rest of the group managed to find each other, but no one was able to find Jimin. Jimin had last been seen in one of the hallways most likely looking for a way back to the members.
It was 25 minutes until they were able to get any of the electricity working again. It was another 10 minutes until people began realizing Jimin hadn't made his way back yet.
Management started going wild. They knew the security cameras weren't going to be of any use to them, so they started looking around the venue.
They came across one of the stylists, Tuski Aiko, bloodied and bruises in one of the sanitary supply closets. She was talking in rushed Japanese, trying to tell whoever found her what happened to her.
The police were called and there was an investigation of the are, everyone, doing their hardest to find the young idol. A Japanese officer spoke to the frantic stylist to figure out what had happened to her.
She said she was the last one to have seen Jimin. Jimin had found her walking alone with some of her makeup things when the power had gone out. They had been moving slowly through the hallways when there was a loud clanging noise. Jimin was gone and she was on the verge of passing out in that closet.
The entire area was investigated, but there was absolutely no sign of the idol. There were news broadcasts, radio announcements, and billboards with Jimin's face all over it.
Despite all the investigating, Jimin wasn't found. Within a single year, the investigation for him had changed.
They had begun looking in other places. They were looking for bodies. They were looking all over Seoul for Jimin's corpse. The entire tour was canceled and everyone who paid for their tickets was refunded immediately.
BTS began to promote as 6. Jungkook had always wanted to try out Jimin's high notes, but he never wanted it to be under those conditions. The group seemed less whole and a lot more out of place when they were around other idols.
People were used to 7, not 6, and it was taking its toll on the group.
In 2020, BTS collectively went in for their mandatory military service, due to return in 2022. They had all given up hope that Jimin was coming back to them.
BTS was on the verge of disbandment. Their fall from grace seemed inevitable when the cracks started showing after Jimin vanished. It was almost a relief when they went off for their military service. The fans decided they needed a break from the idol life.
Nearing the end of their military service, international news broke.
On December 26th, 2022, they finally found the people that took Park Jimin and they launched a rescue mission that would take hours to complete.
They had found Jimin a month later, and the world was frightened to know he wasn't alone
