Chapter Ten: Crying isn't weakness
"SOS there's no progress
Oh, wait a second why am I like this?
Am I drunk, I'm getting dizzy, I'm falling asleep" – Don't leave by G-Dragon and TOP, 2010
Jimin didn't really want to answer all these questions and dig back in all his memories... But if it was going to help the police put them in jail... He would cooperate the best he could.
"We don't have to go over everything today, we just want a little background on your situation."
Jimin let out a shaky sigh, "The beginning? It all started during that sudden power outage at that venue during the tour... I was helping one of the makeup-noonas with her things and helping her out, but then the power went out. I was using my phone to navigate the dark hallway, but it was low on charge, so it was only a matter of time before it ran out..."
That's what Tsuki Aiko had told them years prior. She had been let go and paid for her injuries and therapy after the incident by Bighit. His phone had died while they were making their way back to the dressing rooms. Then the attack happened and Jimin was gone.
"Can you give us a time frame?"
"The concert began at around 7 o'clock in the evening and at around 11 o'clock it was over. I was backstage trying to burn off a little bit of the energy I had left over from the concert. I was going around, giving out hugs and hi-fives and whatnot... For about 10 minutes or so I was doing that when I stumbled upon the makeup-noona and decided to help her out. Then the power went out and we know what happens from there..."
Jimin's fingers held a tight grip on the bedsheets as he recounted the memories before his capture.
"So, I would say I was taken around 11:30..."
His story checked out of course. They asked everyone in the area as per the procedure, and they all said it was in between 1125 and 11:35 when the power went out. All the stories were very consistent and tied into a lot of alibis.
"I was jostled around a lot... And there was a scream, and then I was hit on the head with something..."
One of Aiko's makeup lights had two dents in it. That makeup light also had blood on it and a shattered ring light. The woman was greatly upset when she found out because that light was worth nearly $80.
"We found Aiko-ssi in a closet, bruised and beaten up around the time the lights finally came on. She said her makeup light had been taken from her hands and she and you were knocked out. She didn't remember anything past her makeup light being taken and her being whacked over the head."
Jimin nodded, "Yeah, that must have been her scream... I did wake up with a pounding headache when I finally came to. But I knew I wasn't in the venue anymore. I was moving... I was in a moving vehicle with my hands and legs tied together. I couldn't see anything, but I didn't hear any voices either."
They were writing down things in their notepads as he spoke, the tape recorder still going on.
"Then the vehicle stopped... And I was hauled out like a sack of potatoes and thrown around..."
Jimin squeezed his eyes shut, "I was somewhere I was unfamiliar with... And I was hurt a lot there... Please don't make me say anymore..."
"Thank you, for your cooperation. When you are more comfortable with disclosing more information, just come down to the station."
Jimin nodded, leaning back into his hospital bed with a sigh. Jimin couldn't tell them the names of the people who took him, or tell them the names of the people that bought and sold him... He only knew their faces.
A little smile crossed Jimin's face as he remembered Jungkook's line as he dodged a question years earlier, "I know face, but I don't know her name." Of course, the contexts were different, but they held the same meaning to him.
His members and his family began to pile back in, "They didn't press too hard, right? I'll rip them a new one if they did!"
"Eomma I'm fine..."
"How has my baby been doing? They haven't treated you too roughly here, yeah?"
"No, Eomma, I'm fine. I've only been here about 24 hours or so anyway..."
Or at least, that's how it felt to him. His body was exhausted and starved, so he was probably out for much, much longer. He would estimate about 3 days or so, maybe even a week?
"Your father and I caught the first train out of Busan when we saw the news. We're so happy you're back..."
"Me too, Eomma... Me too."
It felt like a dream still. He just couldn't believe it. He was really here, surrounded by people he loved so dearly and held so close to his heart. And they never forgot about him.
He was so glad, so grateful...
Tears started to flow down his cheeks. They weren't tears of pain, sorrow, loss, or longing, they were content tears. He was so overjoyed to see these people in front of him. He had missed his Eomma's home cooking that she would send in Tupperware containers once a month if they weren't on tour, he missed his music, his dance, everything that had shaped him into the person he was today.
All these people in his life that never forgot about him that were standing right here before him... It made him feel better than he had in years.
"I wish you wouldn't do that..." Jungkook said softly, turning away with crossed arms. He was biting his bottom lip to keep himself from crying too, but the members were quick to call him out on it.
"Look at our sensitive maknae everyone! He just missed his hyung so much is all-." Seokjin cooed, slowly gravitating to pinch at his cheeks.
"Stop it! You're embarrassing me!" Jungkook shouted his ears a noticeable shade of red with flushed cheeks to match.
Jimin laughed a little bit, covering his mouth with one hand and wiping his tears with another. It felt like no time had passed at all. They felt, looked, and acted like the hyungs he knew and loved so much before.
He missed them...
Jungkook flung himself around Jimin, sobbing and crying, "I'm sorry, hyung! I'm so sorry!"
"Kookie?"
"I'm so sorry, hyung..." Jungkook said in a small voice, "For everything I did and never go to apologize for... I'm so sorry..."
Jimin hesitantly placed his hand on Jungkook's back, "It's ok, Kookie... I already told you, I've forgiven you."
Jungkook holds Jimin's hand, "But-But you're so small now, so different-." Jungkook let out an ugly noise as he continued sobbing, "You-I said-."
"Jungkook I forgive you. This isn't your fault... Ok, Kookie? This isn't your fault."
Jungkook hugged his waist, his shoulders shaking as Jimin was doing his best to comfort their maknae.
"You've been so strong for your hyung's haven't you? It's ok, Kookie, you can cry."
And so, he did. He cried until he just couldn't cry anymore, and his tears were reduced to quiet sobs and small, "I'm sorry's"
"Don't worry, Kookie. It's ok."
Jungkook got up slowly, wiping his already dry, but red puffy eyes, "Thank you, hyung... Thank you so much."
"Anytime, Kookie, anytime."
"Ah~ Ah~ in this night where everyone has fallen asleep
I hate being alone
Ah~ Ooh~ Ah~ hiding in that moonlight,
I whisper sweet nothings" – Don't Leave by G-Dragon and TOP, 2010
