It has been two days of torment. Two days since I was introduced to Sky's scent. Without even knowing what she looks like, I am already obsessed. I blame it on my lack of female company of late, but who am I kidding? It's more than that. It's her voice, her unique scent, and then, to top it off, the smell of her arousal before she left the diner. I couldn't stop thinking about any of it. There was also that almost indistinct smell of rose on her, marking her innocence.

The smell of a virgin is the hardest to identify, made that way on purpose. Usually, werewolf elders, healers, and those with superior smell, such as us Lycans, were the only ones who could identify that hidden scent. When werewolves bind, they find their true partner through scent first. That scent starts the process, and if it's a pronounced, clearly identifiable virgin scent, it would be confusing when it disappeared after the deed was done, which is what happens. This effectively alters their significant other's scent. Thus, genetics has essentially hidden this scent from the masses and limited its detection to the few, regardless of species. Male virginity smells like cloves.

Her innocence aside, I still couldn't pinpoint my bizarre interest in this woman. It wasn't that I was bonding with her. Our species can't form a mate bond with a human because it depends on a mutual ability to smell the other's unique scent, and humans cannot smell at that level. I was used to women looking at our species and reacting, so I wasn't sure why this time it was different. It must be her, then.

For the last two days, I have kept imagining what she looks like, in my mind and in my dreams, not wanting to ask Ivan in case he got wind that my interest was more than just whether she was a threat. He was already suspicious as to why I could scent her, and he couldn't. Something that equally perturbed me.

But I'm positive that once I see her, my curiosity will be satisfied, and this minor obsession will fade into oblivion. There was no way in any event that I would become involved with a human, so no need to arouse my beta's suspicion. Even though I knew he could get Sky's address for me, I didn't want to ask him. So, I used our system to look up her home address from her business registration details online. Not exactly aboveboard, which was already an indication that whatever this was, it was absolute insanity.

It found me here, silently making my way through the forest to her house on the outskirts of town. It wasn't far, and I found it would be relatively close to my new residence, which is currently being erected on the Jacobson land.

As I come up to the side of Sky's house, I can feel the anticipation building. I sniff the air, scenting her inside. That smell. It has quickly become my favorite. I can pick up her movements as she moves from room to room. There is a ping from the microwave before I hear the door open and then close.

I move closer to the house, keeping to the shadows of the pine trees. As I move around the side of the house, her sunroom comes into view. She has fairy lights hanging from the ceiling, shedding a soft light on the room. There are plants and jars all over on shelves and hanging next to the windows. On the side, two sliding doors lead out into the dark forest. I track the sound of her footsteps as she approaches the sunroom, sending my heart into overdrive. And then she appears.

Fuck. My imagination has not done her justice. She is gorgeous. At 5'5", she just reaches my chest, her fiery red hair, which is on top of her head in a messy bun, adding to her height. Even clad in pajamas, her curves are obvious to anyone with eyes, and my eyesight is perfect. Small wisps of hair frame a fair-skinned face dusted with freckles over her studded nose and cheeks. My gaze locks onto her gorgeous, big hazel eyes filled with innocence, and I'm sure capable of seeing into my soul.

Her hand rises, and my gaze dips to her mouth, locking onto lips that wrap themselves around a spoonful of pasta. Fucking lucky spoon.

Tearing my gaze away thanks to that ludicrous thought, I allow myself to take her in, from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. Goddess, she is perfect. When she moves, I am transfixed, watching as she floats around the sunroom, spooning pasta into her mouth while occasionally touching a plant, wholly unaware that there is a predator watching her.

As she makes her way around the room, I almost step out of the dark when she comes to a halt by the window closest to me. Geez, what is wrong with me? She must have noticed the slight movement, as she pauses to look more closely at the area where I am hidden by the shadows. After some time, she shakes her head and makes her way back inside, closing the inner sunroom doors and curtains behind her.

I remain hidden in the shadows, listening to her make her way around her house. I stay long enough for all the lights to go off, a sign she has gone to bed. The desire to get inside, which would be easy, and watch her sleep is beyond illogical. What the fuck thought is that? I mentally punch myself. I need to stay the hell away from this woman. Which may prove difficult, as in all my centuries of being alive, no being, not even my own species, has appealed to me as she has. Not good.
