Divine Beasts
Y/N met Impa and she's and Link were told (by Impa) that Link would have to leave as soon as Y/N fell asleep after a little deal-making. Link ended up falling asleep seconds later with Y/N wondering how he does that. Quick question. Is anyone liking this story? I know I am, but are you guys. I keep meaning to ask you guys and I keep forgetting.
I wake up with a start, shooting up. I'm on my back with an arm around my waist. I glance to my right. Link is still asleep next to me. I scoot closer to him and turn onto my side, regretting it instantly. My side hurts like crap. I bite my lip and rest my head on Link's chest. I hear footsteps coming up the stairs and shut my eyes, pretending to be asleep. I hear Impa sigh and more footsteps run up next to her.
"Grandmother, what's wrong?" I hear a younger girl ask. She sounds about mine and Link's age. I shift as though I were dreaming and let an arm flop over Link's stomach.
"He should have left by now, Paya." Impa says. I yawn in my 'sleep' and stretch out an arm before relaxing it. "We need to wake him." I feel something shaking us and pretend to wake up, yawning deeply.
"Huh?" I ask sleepily, rubbing an eye.
"Link needs to leave for his journey." Impa says. Link stretches before relaxing, a smile on his face. I think he's having a good dream. Whatever that would be for a hero of Hyrule.
"Let him get some sleep. He might not get much during this whole thing." I say. "Who knows how much sleep he got on the Great Plateau. He's always awake before I am, getting wood or food. Let him sleep while he can." Link suddenly tenses, his arm around my waist tightening slightly. It's not uncomfortable, but it's not comfortable, either. He pulls me closer, turning onto his side, facing me. I wrap my arms around his neck gently, burying my face into his shoulder. I can tell one thing. Link's dream just turned into a nightmare. I turn my head to look at his face and brush some of his hair from his eyes. I let my head drop to a pillow and close my eyes as I pull my hand back, falling asleep again.
I feel something slam into my gut, sending me crashing into a wall. I look around and gasp. Link is bloodied, laying on my lap, his eyes shut. I pull his head against my chest and make sure he's alive. He is, barely. I gently let him down and look up, gasping. Ganon stands over us, laughing maniacally. I stand up and grab the hilt of my sword.
"What are you gonna do about me, kid?" Ganon laughs. "I created you. I know your weaknesses." As he says that, Link vanishes.
"Where is Link?" I demand. "I will beat the answer from you if I have to." I shake my head as a deep ache spreads throughout my skull. I grab my ears and stumble a bit. Ganon starts to attack me, knocking me into another wall. I grunt, still holding my ears.
"This is too easy!" Ganon laughs.
"What the? What's happening to me?" I grunt as the ache gets worse. I feel the ache spread throughout my entire body and watch as my hands turn into hooves, wings sprout from my back, and my head lengthen until I stand before Ganon as a pegasus with a horn. I experimentally try to shoot a laser at Ganon and hit him in the head with a blue laser. I gallop circles around him, shooting him with my lasers. I feel something on my back and glance behind me. Link sits on my back, seemingly surprised about how easy it was. He judges my sides, making me go faster for a bit. I keep shooting lasers at Ganon until his firey axe hits my front right leg. I whinny and tumble to the ground, throwing Link from my back. He passed out again. I manage to pull myself next to him and shield him with my body as Ganon shoots some lasers at us. I whinny in pain as the lasers hit my back, but I don't care. Link wakes up just as I feel like I'm going to pass out. I wrap my wings around him and bury him with my body, blacking out after a quick glance at his blue eyes.
I shoot up, covered in sweat. I feel a hand on my back and jump, looking over. Link smiles gently at me. I scoot closer to him and wrap my arms around his neck, burying my face in his chest.
"I had one, too. It's ok, it's ok." Link says gently. I feel tears coming and pull myself closer to him. Link suddenly pulls me onto his lap, making me face him. He takes my chin between his thumb and index finger and makes me look up at him. He rests his forehead on mine, looking into my eyes. I blink, trying to make my tears to away, but they fall down my face. Link cups my cheeks with his hands and brushes the tears away with his thumbs. I lean my head into his left hand and close my eyes, letting the tears fall. Link and I turn when footsteps walk up the stairs. Impa turns off of the stairs and sighs.
"Link, you need to leave, now." Impa says. Link and I sigh.
"Impa, I feel like Y/N needs to come, too." Link says. I bury my face in his chest again.
"Link, please. I can send her after you when she's healed." Impa sighs.
"Yeah, and by then Ganon might be gone." Link says. "If she was created by him, she might be the ticket we need to tip the scales in our favor."
"Link, you need to free the four Divine Beasts I told you about. Vah Ruta, the elephant, piloted by Mipha of the Zoras. Vah Rudania, the salamander, piloted by Daruk of the Gorons. Vah Medoh, the bird, piloted by Revali of the Rito. And Vah Naboris, the camel, piloted by Urbosa of the Gerudo." Impa says. "But there's one more, which was not piloted. Vah Saria, the wolf Divine Beast."
"Why is it around if nobody pilots it?" Link asks. I shrug. Impa simply chuckles.
"The pilot is sitting in your lap. She went missing and nobody knew where she went. She was a Champion along with you and the other four pilots. Here is her Sheikah Slate. Impa holds out a weird looking Sheikah Slate. "Zelda and her were the only two to have a Sheikah Slate. It was the only way for her to pilot it. I can get her ready while you free the other four. I'm sure she can free her own Divine Beast, if it wasn't freed already."
"Wait, already? What?" I ask, lifting my head. Impa chuckles again.
"Unlike the other four Champions, you had a pet who stuck with you all the time. Nobody ever saw you without that pet by your side." Impa says. "He might be in that Divine Beast, thinking you're in there. You actually made him sit where Vah Saria always sat when you weren't piloting it. He might have found a way inside, sensing something was wrong. Nobody has seen either of you since. We all assumed you were killed like the other four Champions."
"What animal was he?" I ask.
"Same as Your Divine Beast. A wolf. He was loyal to you until the end. That wolf could fight like no other. He is actually how you met the other Champions. He sensed something off with you, so he grabbed a strip of leather and dragged you to the castle, where you met the Champions. Zelda managed to persuade you to show what you could do and you were made a Champion. I still have your tunic, as I do with Link's. I kept them both safe and fixed them." Impa says. "I can heal you so you can help your wolf companion."
"What was his name?" I ask.
"Ganon must have erased your memories. His name was Blood Moon, for the way you two met. He was created under a Blood Moon and he tried to attack you until you dropped a raw whole bird. He gobbled it up and sat down, panting. You kept feeding him until he barked and led you to a treasure chest which held enough Rupees to buy a new outfit, which you had your eye on. You called him Bloody for short. You only used his full name when he was in trouble, which wasn't often." Impa says. "His fur was the darkest black anyone had seen before. Even darker than horses with black fur, but it was shinier than diamond." Impa produces a bottle with a red liquid in it.
"Is that blood?!" I yelp. The red is just as deep as blood is.
"I can assure you, child. This is not blood. It is a healing potion that will help you." Impa says. She offers me the bottle. I glance at Link, who nods.
"I got kinda beat up while trying to get you here. Impa gave me the same stuff and I'm fine." Link says. I nod and take the bottle, drinking the potion before I think twice. I feel warm inside and sigh in relief as my sides feel better. I hug Link, smiling. Link laughs and hugs back, burying his face in my shoulder. Impa lets us pull apart before we climb out of the bed.
"Ok, so now what?" I ask. Impa smiles.
"Well, Link can go to one of the other four Divine Beasts and you can help Bloody fight inside your own Divine Beast. Your Sheikah Slate has the Beast as a traveling point. You need to get there quickly. I see you still have your sword from 100 years ago." Impa says. "Did I mention the Skates can communicate to each other? It's something called texting." Link and I exchange looks.
"Well, at least we'll know where each other will be, relatively speaking." Link says. I nod.
"But If Link is gonna free the other four Divine Beasts, why not help me free mine if we need to?" I ask. Link nods.
"It would make sense for me to help her out." Link says. I nod as Link puts an arm around my waist. I lean my head on his shoulder and sigh. Impa sighs.
"If that is how you feel, I won't object. Just, be careful. Both of you." Impa says. "Hyrule is counting on you." She hands us each our old tunics and me my Sheikah Slate. It looks different from Link's. The design is similar, but it's colored differently.
"Oh, you made that Slate yourself. That's why you and the Princess each had one. She had the original and you made your own based on it. Quite ingenious, if I say so myself. You kept asking me questions about the Sheikah technology to help yourself. You colored it differently to make it easier to tell the two apart." Impa says. I nod. The handle is an amber orange, the constellation designs on the back are ruby red and the rest is a sapphire blue. The screen is exactly the same. Link tells me how to use the runes, them being the same as the ones on Link's Sheikah Slate except for three. Mine has a camera, a remote control-like rune, and one with the design of a wolf head.
"What's this one do?" I ask, pointing at the wolf head rune
"It called Bloody in the few instances he got lost. I know it works for a fact. You once left it alone for a year straight on purpose, told Bloody to run off and explore a bit and used that rune a few hours later. He appeared by your side within minutes, panting and sweaty. He definitely loves you and respects you. If you use it now, you might end up surrendering Vah Saria to Ganon." Impa says. I nod, putting my Slate on a holder that now rests on my left hip. Link and I change into our tunics and get ready to venture into my Divine Beast. I take my Slate out and get ready to travel to Vah Saria. I look at Link. "The other one controls Vah Saria remotely. You always liked helping Link, so you built that rune with help from me, Purah and Robbie. They each have an Ancient Tech Lab somewhere in what's left of Hyrule. Purah in Hateno Village and Robbie in the Akkala Region.
"Ready?" I ask. Link nods, hugging me close. Not close enough to keep me from moving, but close enough to feel safe for both of us. I turn around and lean back into Link's chest. He rests his head on top of mine and pulls me closer.
"Let's go!" Link says. I nod and tap Vah Saria on my map. I put the Slate back on its holder just as we turn into streams of blue energy. I blink and as I open my eyes, Vah Saria towers over us, certain areas glowing blue. Link and I manage to climb inside and look around. I hear a wolf growl and tense before turning to my left. I see a jet black wolf just like Impa described fighting something. I look closer st the wolf head rune. It also seems to be a translation for Bloody. Link and I exchange looks before drawing our swords and charging at the enemy to help out my old friend. Link and I fight harder than we have as far as we can remember, helping Bloody kill off the intruder. We pant hard as we try to catch our breath after all that fighting. Bloody knocks me to the floor, licking my face. He sits on my legs after a few minutes and looks happier than I've ever seen him. Memories flood back to me as I look into the black wolf's irregular green eyes. I smile and hug the wolf. He barks and I feel his paws trying to wrap around my shoulders, his head on my shoulders. His fur is softer than I've ever felt. I pull back from the wolf and turn to Link.
"Memories returned. I remember him and you when you were Princess Zelda's appointee knight." I say. Link smiles.
"At least someone remembers something." Link says. Bloody lets me up and I scan my Sheikah Slate on the main control unit. The remote control rune glows and seems to activate. I check out the rune. A laser button appears labeled 'Weakening Ganon laser'. I push it and suddenly Vah Saria opens its mouth and fires a red laser at Hyrule Castle, hitting a pool of Malice surrounding the castle. I look at Link, who shrugs. We leave Saria and debate which Divine Beast to free next. I vote for Medoh and Link votes for Ruta. I laugh.
"What's so funny?" Link asks. I keep laughing as we walk closer to Kakariko to tell Impa about my Divine Beast.
"Mipha had a HUGE crush on you, as did Zelda and me!" I laugh, my face going beet red when I mention myself. Link starts laughing.
"Daw, that's cute." Link teases. I playfully punch him in the arm. He laughs as we walk up the stairs to Impa's house.
"Oh! What are you two doing back here?" She asks.
"Saria is fine." I say, rubbing Bloody behind his ear. He wags his tail and leans his head into my hand. I chuckle at my old friend.
"Well, that's good to hear." Impa says. "I will suggest going to the Gerudo Desert first, freeing Vah Naboris and Urbosa." Link and I nod and walk out of the house, followed by Bloody. I rub the wolf on the head, shaking his slightly floppy ears.
