Chapter 42
Robin's POV
Orla and I are at the airport. I'm so excited to go to Ireland. I'm gonna learn all about her home country and her culture.
I get a text from Alya.
Boss Lady: wanna come over today since you're using some of your vacation days? You could spend some time at my penthouse
Me: sorry Alya maybe next time I'm at the airport with Orla we're going to Ireland for Thanksgiving
Boss Lady: ok well text me when you get back
We get on our flight.
Alya's POV
I sigh and flop back down on my bed. What am I supposed to do now that Robin's gone? I'm just now realizing that her and Lola are the only ones I hang out with, her more than Lola.
I stare up at the ceiling, deep in thought. I wanna make Robin my.........my girlfriend. I've never had one before, but I know for a fact that I want her to be my first, and last, one.
Robin makes my life so much better. She makes me better. We always have so much fun together. She's always up for anything, even if she's never done it before.
She's hella kinky. I think I've met my match, honestly. One would probably think that because she's posh and sophisticated, she'd be boring, but hell no. That lady's a freak.
My phone goes off. I hurry to pick it up, hoping it's Robin, but no. It's my dad. "Dad? Is there something wrong with the company? I check projections everyday, we're flourishing."
"No, Alya. Everything with the company is great. I just wanted to.......meet up with you."
"Uh.........ok. Meet me at the bar we like." I'm gonna need a drink for this.
.....
"So, Dad.......what did you want me here for?" I feel like this is so awkward. My dad never does this. He never wants to meet me anywhere. Any time we talk, it's always over the phone and about business, never face to face. Matter of fact, Christmas was the last time I've seen my dad's face, and we all know how that went.
He sighs. "Alya.......I've really thought about stuff. I've had a lot of time to reflect, and.........I'm sorry for how I've treated you."
I immediately react, choking on nothing. "You're sorry? Oh God." I chug my drink. Too bad that's the last one I'm gonna drink.
My dad? Apologizing? He NEVER does that. As far as I know, in my dad's 50 years of living, he hasn't apologized to anyone a day in his life. Wow. I guess there really is a first for everything.
"I know it's hard to believe, Alya, but after your girlfriend told me off on Christmas, I realized that she was right. I've never considered your feelings about anything. I didn't know you felt all those things."
"Yeah, Dad, because you've never asked, and because I feel like I can't talk to you. The only thing you ever talk to me about is the company."
"Well, I'm asking you how you feel right now. How do you feel about being in charge of the company?"
"I never wanted the company in the first place, you know that. But...... But now that I run it......I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's my responsibility now. People look up to me. People are relying on me. And I'm doing such a great job. By running the company, I can prove that I can do amazing things. There's no turning back now."
He smiles. My dad can do that? "Alya, the reason I'm so hard on you is because I've only ever wanted success for you. But it's clear to see that you want success for yourself. I'm sorry for only being your predecessor instead of your dad as well. How about you spend some time with me on my yacht tomorrow?"
"R-Really? You mean it?" He nods his head, his eyes closed, a smile on his face. "Of course I'll do it, Dad." I say, my voice changing as a tear rolls down my cheek.
