Chapter 30
Alya's POV
Christmas is coming up very soon, and everyone in the office is in the Christmas spirit. Well, everyone except me, that is. I'm not doing Secret Santa. I'm not decorating my office. I'm not listening to any Christmas music.
Everyone else has the office decked out in Christmas decorations, colors of red, green, and white everywhere. Christmas music is blaring. I swear, if I hear "All I Want for Christmas is You" one more time, I'm gonna scream.
Someone knocks on my door as I'm doing paperwork. "Come in." I say, not even looking at the door.
"Merry Christmas, Alya! Or.....Ms. Jiménez," Robin says. Ms. Jiménez? I look up at her. She looks around the room. "How come you don't have any decorations up?"
"I hate this time of year." She frowns. "What turned you into the Grinch?" She sits in a chair. I irritatedly sigh. I'm not irritated at her, I'm irritated at what's putting me in a bad mood.
"Every Christmas, my mom invites the family over, including my dad, and I honestly don't wanna go this year. My family is highly annoying, and by "annoying", I mean dysfunctional."
"How so?" "Well, you know how my dad is. My brothers are still mad that neither one of them got the company, and everyone else is just nosy. It's not fun for me."
"Well, I'm not doing anything for Christmas. I'll tell you what, how about I come with you for Christmas this year?"
I damn near spit out the hot chocolate I was drinking. "You'd do that? For me?" "Yeah. That's what friends are for, right?" ".........Right." "And I know you'd do the same for me. At least I hope so."
She's absolutely right. That is what friends are for. I'm just not used to actually having friends.
"I would absolutely do the same for you." I'd do anything for you, Robin.
She smiles. "Well, I gotta get back to my cubicle. See you for Christmas!"
