This is my response to a video Anime Balls Deep made about ep 74, I usually love his content but couldn't help but question this since I found the episode was fine;

I thought the room with the jem puzzle had a lot of meaning when I watched the episode, I think the point of it was to see how you tried to get out, you fail if you attack/kill the girl or try use jutsu to escape. After all, you need patience for sage.

As for the food part, that was to weed out those who thought with just instinct and didn't think things through like how it could be poisoned or just didn't care out of hunger. Like he said up top it should have taken them way longer to get there. If it hadn't been for orochimaru saying that they were coming, that is. He probably gave them a head start (said they were waiting for them) because most were probably left out there trying to find it until starving so long that they'd most likely all eat the food regardless of any suspisions or die from having dehydration and/or starvation before even getting there.

The part of the test that checked your resolve was actually really difficult and the only one who made it through was boruto, all the others failed and would have died if he had of failed as well. Words pierce worse than kunai, you have to have a certain stubbornness like Naruto to pass this which luckily Boruto inherited as we can see, I myself honestly admit I probably would give in if someone knew all my insecurities and weaknesses and were degrading me into not pursuing my dream job. I guarentee the same to you most likely, we aren't anime characters 🤣 and we aren't related to naruto.
