⤝Chapter three⤞
A few days passed and Harmony got used to the dog, Snowy. He was very friendly and very funny. And soon it was time for the kittens to open their eyes. The first one who opened their eyes was considered the eldest and the last one was the youngest because the owner didn't know when they were born. The eldest was a kitten named Amber, the 2nd was Autumn, the 3rd was Foxy, the 4th was a black boy Ash, the 5th Coral and the last one was Penny. The kittens grew to be about 2 months old and the owner sold away half of them. Only Amber, Foxy, Ash, and Penny was left.
"Oh my gosh Penny, what have you been doing! I can't believe you escaped the house!" Foxy exclaimed seeing her youngest Penny with dirt all over her.
"Sorry sis, but I just can't help it. It's so much fun!" Penny stated.
"But your collar is so dirty!" said Foxy.
Penny sighed. "I don't care, how come the neighbor's cat is allowed to be in the backyard and we are not!?" she asked.
"Seriously? Are you weird? How am I supposed to know and plus that's better for us?" Foxy said licking her paws.
Foxy is a really girly kitten. She loves when the owner has cologne, or when he pets her or when she gets a new collar and she is scared of heights. Penny loves escaping outside and loves flowers because they fascinate her. She also loves to play with Snowy and she is more like a rough-play type. Amber is a quiet cat she usually doesn't make comments just like the owner. The owner is deaf so he doesn't speak and he likes Ash the most because he stands out. Ash is also a really rough-play type like Penny but he is scared of heights like Foxy but admires Penny's braveness.
Penny rolled her eyes and walked away shaking her head. Just then, Penny bumped into her mom. Penny froze and looked up.
"How many times do I have to tell you! Just stop it! You are a disappointment and you should be ashamed of yourself. What is the point of going outside? There is no reason but maybe it's because you are dumb and foolish. Stop doing this to me. You are putting your own life at risk!" Harmony shouted.
Penny's eyes teared and she was really embarrassed. She looked behind her to see all of her siblings gathered around whispering and staring. She saw Snowy shaking his head and trotting away. She looked back at her mother who was still staring at her.
"I-I'm sorry...*sniff* I don't know what I was thinking" Penny managed to say.
"Even if we lived in a town of humans but no. We live near the forest and it's very dangerous. And you act as if I never told you this before! I tell you all a hundred times to not go outside. No...I only tell YOU PENNY!" her mom said still furious.
There was a silence then Penny frowned and said, "Well, where is our dad?"
Her mom looked shocked as if Penny said something forbidden.
"Well don't you know! In the wild, the dads usually leave their-...I mean...your dad was taken away to a new family" said her mom calming down a bit. "Never ask about your dad again!" she said then walked away and sat on the owner's lab. The owner was unaware of anything because he was faced backward and he couldn't hear.
All the kittens understood why they never saw their father. They understood that their father had a different owner, all of them except for Penny. Penny heard the word wild. She knew something was wrong. She noticed her mom pause in an unusual way and then completely change what she was talking about.
"Mom, you totally changed what you said. You were saying something about the rules in the wild. After all, we were born as pets, what does the wild have anything to wi"-Penny was cut off by her mother.
"My head is hurting, please I told you to not talk about your father!" said Harmony.
Her mom sighed then said, "You were born in the wild, I was born in the wild and your father was a wild cat"- Harmony quickly stopped as she saw Penny tearing up.
"So I am a WILD CAT? I KNEW IT!" said Penny in tears as she quickly turned away and sped and leaped through the kitty door. Harmony raced after her daughter who had already run outside.
"YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE WILD!!!" shouted Harmony chasing after Penny.
Penny ran into the forest. Harmony ran back inside to get Snowy. When they came out Penny was gone. Penny ran with all her might leaving trails of tears behind her. She heard her older brother (the kittens count Snowy the dog as their older brother), Snowy give a howl. Penny got scared thinking they would find her. She quickly tried to climb a tree as she had seen the neighbor's cat does but she failed. Her nails were recently trimmed. Penny fell to the ground with pain. She looked around and figured she had entered the forest. She walked a while then quickly looked behind her thinking that her owner was giving her her meal. Then she realized she was in the forest and it was time for lunch. Penny already started feeling hungry for she had played in the yard in the morning and hadn't eaten. She walked around then heard another howl. But this time it did not sound like Snowy. It sounded bolder then she heard many howls. She quickly tried to run up the tree but failed again. She heard a twig crack. Her fur puffed out and her tail became a squirrel's tail. She looked behind her to see a pack of wolves which made her jump with fright. She dashed as the wolves chased her.
"Psst come here!"
Penny quickly ran by the voice then made a quick u-turn and came back to the voice which was coming from the hole. Penny automatically ran inside the hole. She fell inside and her vision switched to night-mode. It was very dark and all she could hear was growling wolves trying to come inside. Soon she started to see after the wolves left because they were blocking the sunlight. Penny was still shivering. She looked behind her and saw a rabbit about two times bigger than her and three little bunnies beside it. The baby bunnies were half her size.
"Thank you so much for saving me Mr. umm Rabbit," said Penny.
"It's no problem, I hate wolves too, they killed my wife and now I take care of my children all by myself." The rabbit said, "And you can call be Mr. Hopper."
Penny nodded.
"May I stay at your house, please? I lost my own home." Penny asked.
The rabbit thought for a moment. He thought that Penny might go wild like a cat but then he caught his eye on her collar.
"Just for the night please?" asked Penny once more.
"Of course," he replied.
Penny gave a smile.

Mr. Hopper showed Penny a little room she could sleep in for the night. Penny settled in and was fast asleep. Later she woke up to see Mr. Hopper.
"Umm yes?" she asked.
"Will you come to eat, it's not dark yet and you look like you haven't eaten for a long time." said the rabbit.
"Oh of course!" Penny said starting to feel her tummy rumble. The rabbit led her into another hole where there were the three little bunnies she had seen earlier. Penny jumped inside and Mr. Hopper jumped in behind her. He put a mouth full of wheat, hay, flowers, and grass on the ground. All the bunnies tugged and fought and got their share meanwhile Penny stared blankly at the food.
'What am I supposed to do with this! Am I supposed to gobble it up like the bunnies? This isn't even food, how can they live like that!?' Penny thought.
"Why won't you eat little kitten? What's the matter?" asked the rabbit.
"You see...I don't mean to be rude but"- she was cut off by Mr. Hopper.
"You never told me your name?" he asked.
"Oh, my name is Penny," she replied the continued, " Do you have any mea"- she was cut off again.
"Umm, how old did you say you were?"
"I never said, but I am 3 months old. I am really hungry but I can't"- she was cut off AGAIN.
"Well if you can't eat, then you may leave," he said sternly.
Penny was speechless. She wondered why started acting strange. For some reason, she didn't like him at all anymore. She had a lump in her throat urging to cry. She silently left the hole and then walked around the tunnels and then finally found the hole leading to outside. It was dark and chilly. The sun was almost gone. She wanted to go back inside again so she looked behind her to the hole. All of a sudden Mr. Hopper came out.
"I can't let you stay, you are a threat to our family. If you want to eat meat, then kill another rabbit's kids, not mine!" he shouted.
"But... I don't understand...I..." Penny was cut off by her own tears.
Mr. Hopper didn't show any affection.
"Get lost! I just remembered that your mother had killed my sister."
"I'm sorry but I didn't know that cats eat bunnies. And plus I'm sure you're making a mistake"- she was cut off.
"I SAID GET LOST!!!" He yowled.
Penny screamed in fear and started sobbing as she dashed off into the woods. She ran for her life. She was never treated like this ever in her life. She ran and ran. She ran until she felt like she had been running for hours. Soon it was pitch black. Her night vision switched on. She laid down in the middle of the forest. She decided to sleep on the cold ground. She was woken up to a sound that sounded like a million rocks were falling from the sky about an hour later. She jerked up with fear. She saw lightning and thunder everywhere. 'So that was the noise' She thought. She told herself to be brave and to sleep. She felt something tickle her she woke up again and to her fear...it was raining.
'Oh no! How can I sleep on the dirt? It might flood and plus I will be wet. I have to find shelter!

Penny stood up and started walking until she came upon an old tree. It had a huge hole inside it so she decided to sleep in there till morning and then immediately get back home. She looked and saw the tree had some old dried up flowers and vines decorated as if it was a celebration.
