Iris POV

Last night was nothing but intense, Lucas was really rough and it was hard to keep up with him making me eventually passing out midway.

It's been three months since my coronation and it wasn't easy adjusting to the new title 'Luna queen' it was weird and I was always insisting on people calling me Iris instead.

Soon enough, I was told about Daphne's birthday and she would be turning 18, which was when the legal wolves find their mates and I was really excited for her, and I wanted everything to be perfect for her.

After we had breakfast, Daphne practically dragged me to her favorite store and made me buy a lot of stuff using Lucas's card.

I chuckled as she went on a rampage, checking everything and asking for my opinion. As I watched her select a new set of clothes, I suddenly felt uneasy, like something was wrong, I looked over my shoulder and checked again to make sure I wasn't hallucinating but still felt it.

My senses were instantly heightened and I was trying to scent the air to find out the changes but it wasn't easy.

"What about this one iris?" Daphne's words snapped me back.

"Oh. Erm...yeah... it's really good. Your mate would love it" I smiled trying to hide my turmoil.

"You think so?" She blushes

I nodded smiling at her. It was a short red dress with an open back and a good cleavage over her breasts.

She smiles and goes to get the dress packaged while I try to figure out why I was feeling uneasy. That's when I saw some kids running by playing with cotton candy, then when something ticked in me.

"Duck!"

I yelled, my body instantly sheltering the innocent kids as a large beast bursts through the wall causing a mess. The people screaming and running around for shelter from it.

I led the children to a safe place making sure they were okay. "Go quickly. Make sure you're safe" I spoke to them as their mother came to carry them thanking me.

"Iris!" Daphne yells. I immediately stood up from my squatting position and ran to where the beast was making commotions. Daphne was doing her best to distract the beast from hurting the others.

I looked around making sure everyone was out of the mall, the security helping to take everyone out before I ran to help Daphne.

The beast was large, it looked like a mutilated animal, a mix between a lion and a bull, it's skin was black and eyes red with its body that of a lion and it's head have that of a bull.

It was growling and destroying everything in its path and was catching up to Daphne as she tried her best to distract it.

"Daphne! Get out of here!" I yelled distracting the beast from chasing her and its eyes landed on mine, letting out a loud growl.

"What! No no no no! Get out of here Iris. Go get Lucas!"

The beast prowls around me and I backed away slowly, cautious of my movements. "I'll get it out the pack, just make sure everyone is safe" I called out as the beast growls.

"What! No i-"

"There's no time to talk Daphne. Now" I commanded using my Luna tone, I heard her grumble and ran out the building to get help.

"It's just you and me" I whispered, backing away from it, it's eyes never living mine as it growls loudly. I took the opportunity to grap a cup still filled with coffee and threw it on it.

The thing roared angrily and I ran for it towards the woods, since I had a head start I ran quickly using the woods to avoid hurting other pack members.

Soon I heard loud pants and I knew it was close.

"Iris. Baby. Where are you?" Lucas mindlinked me.

"In the forest on the west side. Trying to lead the beast away from the pack"

"Honey I need you to listen to me okay?. Get out of there. Find somewhere safe and hide. I'm on my way" he warns

"I can't. This thing is after me and I don't why. Just get here quickly" I breathe raggedy as I made sure I'm far from the beast

"I'm on my way"

The mindlink fades and I try my best to hide as I hear its loud footsteps on the forest grounds.

"Iris" I heard my name and I thought it was Lucas again but instead it was Snow.

"Oh now you show up?" Then I gasped as a tree came flying in my direction and I turned a hard right to avoid it crushing me before running towards the river.

"Iris you need to summon me"

"What?" I screamed as the beast starts running after me.

"It's the only way we survive Iris!"

I ran further in the dense forest hiding inside to catch my breath.

"You can't defeat this beast in your human form, especially alone . Trust me on the Iris"

"What is that thing?"

"A buol. They're ancient creatures. Rare ones"

"Then how is it here!"

"That. I don't know of. But I know they're dangerous creatures. You need my help"

"Okay. Okay. Then how do I summon you?" I asked her, running out of breath

I gasped when I heard the beast roar echo the forest.

"Close your eyes. Call out my name. And say you need me"

"That's all? Nothing else?"

"Yes"

I didn't have much time to think and did as she said, closing my eyes and calling out her name.

"I need you snow... please" I whispered my eyes closed as I waited for something to happen.

My body shivers and I fell to my knees panting for air. I heard the beast drawing near and I tried to stand up but my body was weak, the ground shook as I heard the thing coming closer.

"N- no" I tried to move but I was now on the ground instead and the buol was close. My breath I hitched when I saw it a few meters away from me, panting, its eyes fiery and its growl thunderous

"No...no.." the beast didn't hesitate and ran towards me and I did my best to crawl away but it was useless and immediately covered my face.

It pounces but is caught mid air by an even larger or equally it's size beast. I gasped and saw a white, with golden strands of fur in its body.

It bit, tore and fought the buol. It was more swift and quicker than the buol and before it could react the it has already attacked.

"Snow...?" I watched amazement as snow, fought bravely. The buol growls angrily and tried to bite snow's tail but luckily she shifts away and bites its neck.

The buol growls and shook its head, trying to hook it's horns in snow's body.

The battle shook the entire forest and I had to get of here quickly. I turned around trying to move to rest my body on the nearest tree and as soon I hid there, the buol's body was thrown over and hit several trees crushing them instantly.

I froze to the spot I was in, panting uncontrollably seeing the once dangerous beast, exhausted and bruised.

There was a large hole in its right shoulder and claw marks on it sides and on its eyes blinding one entirely. It was maimed. Barely living now.

I watched as snow ran to attack again and finish it off, that I hadn't noticed Lucas calling out to me.

"Iris!" Lucas immediately came to my side as the two large beast fought in the background.

"Lucas" I breath, he carried me out but I kept looking at snow as she tore the buol, limb to limb. "Are you okay?" He asks carring me to a safe place.

"I'm... I'm fine just tired"

Daphne hugs me "I'm so glad you're okay"

Nate came running "what are those things?!"

"Do you know why they attacked you?" Adrian looks at me

"I..."

A loud howl silences everyone and Snow turns to face us holding the buol's head, her snout all bloody and her fur too.

"What is it doing?" Nate asks, his body already in a defensive stance and that's when I noticed everyone was in a defensive stance.

Lucas growls he's hand covering me. "No Lucas. She means no harm" I explained but a thud was heard and Snow was sat on the ground dropping the head before laying on all fours.

"Snow" I whispered and she turns to look at me.

"Her eyes... they're..." Adrian first speaks and that's when I noticed her eyes were mixed, one blue as the sky and the other black as night.

"But how..." Daphne whispers in shock.

I stand, happy I had my strength back and walked over to her, everyone watching me. I first smile at her and caress her head.

"You did good. Thank you" I smiled. She wags her tail happily and I giggled

That's when I noticed a symbol on head, but it's already on her fur.

"Iris. You're the one" Daphne gasped and everyone follows her gaze to snow's head.

Lucas comes forward and looks at me then at snow. "I knew there was something special about you" he smiles and snow nudges him, making him chuckle.

"Nice to meet you too"

"Did you know?" Nate asks me.

"Know what?"

"You were had this... beast with you?"

"Well...I...yeah I knew but I never knew she was..." I trailed off looking over her "like this"

"This symbol. It's in the ancient books" Lucas said.

"Lucas, remember the stories the elders told us? That one will bear this symbol. The symbol of the protectors. They weren't stories afterall" Daphne speaks up.

"You're saying she's a protector?" Nate asks, then everyone looks at me.

"We should go back to the palace and figure things out" Lucas nods.

"What about the forest? It's a mess"

"I can help fix it"

"Snow can fit it" I spoke up and everyone looks at us, then she stood up and placed her paw on the soil, then the grasses slowly grows and the broken trees starts to grow again.

"Healing" Daphne whispers. "She's healing the forest"

"Now we should get out of here. Just to be safe" Lucas nods

We start to head back and despite being calm and understanding, I knew he was worried and I could tell snow fell it too.
