Lucas' POV

The next day came, and i woke up to see Iris still snuggled up sleeping. After the eclipse she was surprisingly hyper active but now looks more tired and weak.

I rather have her rest and take a break, while i quickly finish up things and spend the rest of the day with her.

Quietly getting dressed, I went out to head downstairs, the guests have probably all gone by now. So I went to the office that was here in the palace, though I didn't have everything I wanted but I could manage.

As I walked in, I was met with the presence of my father's scent. Sighing I closed the door and headed to the bookshelves to check for what I wanted.

"Morning" I said not really concerned about his reply, he dropped his pen and I heard him sigh into his chair. "Morning, care to talk?" He asked calmly.

I turned around slowly to meet his gaze "you know I'm not that good at that I suppose" I shrugged, walking over to the chair opposite him.

"You found her didn't you?" He went straight to the point, with a slightest scowl on his face

"Yes I did" I confirmed, and his frown turned sour.  Leaning back on his chair and sighed into his hands "son, are you telling me that, that woman is your mate?" He asked upset.

I was starting to hate this conversation "yes she is and what's wrong with that?" I said annoyed.

"Please don't get me wrong, but didn't you sense it? she's not normal, she doesn't even have a stable scent. Just her being in that hall I could tell tha-"

"Don't" I lowly growled. "I don't care about anyone says. She's mine and I'm hers. And so what if she is different, that makes her all more special to me. So if you can't respect that it's best to avoid us" I confronted, nobody was to look down on my mate, even if it was my parents.

He looked at me then looked away when I used my Alpha tone. Though he could easily keep the stare, for our wolves it would seem like a challenge.

"I didn't mean it like that" he scratched his head. "It...was just a surprise, but still I shouldn't have. My apologies" he said but I had already stood up to leave.

"I'll come for the files later" I said I walked out, I needed to calm down.

Even when Iris was recovering I could tell she had a different aura attached to her, like a thick fog around her, at first when Dr Andrews told about the strange aura attached to her, I thought that she was poisoned with something by Damian, over time the aura changed, but it was like a frequent change, like an emotion. Just like yesterday I noticed her aura was lighter and clearer, probably that's why she was hyped.

Or was it cause of the eclipse?

I knew there was a lot to ask about but I knew Iris wouldn't know how to respond to that, and she won't even know what it meant and would worry about it.

But If it meant anything else, I'd always stay by her side to help her.

I headed back upstairs to stay with Iris, opening the door silently I walked in thinking she was asleep. But when I came in her wasn't on the bed and there was a strong scent of blood in the air, then I heard  painful groans from the bathroom.

I panicked and rushed to the bathroom, I saw a trail of blood in the bathroom, "Iris love? Are you okay" I knocked. I heard muffles and groans again.

"Love I'm coming in okay?" I told her as I broke in. I saw her seated on the floor stained and was vomiting in the toilet.

"Iris!" I rushed over to her scanning her from head to toe.

She groans and holds her shirt tight as she puked more into the toilet. I quickly mind linked Daphne to get nurse Ava, since Iris was more comfortable with her around.

"I.. it's h..hurts" she cried. I held her as she squeezed her stomach. "Where, where does it hurt love?" I asked worriedly.

She pointed in between her legs and groaned louder, "what's... happening!?"she cried painfully.

Wait, blood was coming from between legs? Could it be her period?

Right probably she hasn't even had one because her body wasn't healthy enough.

I looked around for a tampon for her, but first I needed to get her clean.

"Love, I'm gonna prepare a warm bath for you okay? It'll help stop it okay" I tried explaining to her, she bit her lips and nodded.

I helped her up and quickly filled the tub with warm water. While it filled and got pain killers from one of the cabinets, so she can take after she has eaten.

Coming down to squat in front of her, she was still my shirt that she wore yesterday.

"I..I didn't hurt myself but... there's blood..." I saw the worry and pain in her eyes as she looked at me confused.

I sigh, how was I supposed to explain this "I know you didn't hurt yourself, but I'll explain what's happening later, let's get cleaned up first okay?" I smiled and kissed her forehead.

She leans into the kiss and sighs of relief like the pain had gone, I was glad I could help her calm down.

"It's okay. You'll be fine" I assured her and she nodded.

I got her a towel so she could cover herself as I helped clean up the small stains on the floor. Helping to rinse off her legs and check on the tub, it was bubbly just like she likes it, then she carefully got into the tub I prepared while I was facing away.

"Lucas?" She calls me. "Hmm?" I dropped off the clothes in a bucket of water before I put them in the washing machine.

"Am...am I okay? Is...is this normal? Am not sick again...right?" She bit her lips nervously, tears visible in her eyes.

I come closer to her. "No love you're not sick" I sighed in thought, I really don't know if I'm in the position to explain it. "Well...this is actually common in women actually, when you reach a certain age, your body starts going through changes and during those changes it takes a lot of strength and sometimes hurts. It's something called menstrual cycle or period for short" I explained.

She looked confused for a second then turned back to me "Soo is this a period?" She asks. And I nodded back at her, but she frowned "but must it hurt? It felt like my legs couldn't move again and there was a sharp pain down here" she rubbed her lower abdomen underneath the water.

"When will it stop?" She asks again.

I want to speak but sigh, from studies I heard it could vary depending on the individual.

"Honestly I don't know." I told her "This sort of stuff varies on how your body works"

She nods then sighs, just then Daphne mind links me that they're outside the door. I told Iris I'll be right back and went to open the door.

"Sorry we're late brother" Daphne panted. "Alpha" Mrs Ava greeted and I told them to come in.

"What's wrong with Luna?" Mrs Ava asked worriedly. I nodded "she's just started her period".

They both stared at me like I was talking nonsense. "Her period?" Mrs Ava asks "Did she say this is her first time?"

"Yes. I'm sure she wasn't healthy enough to have had it properly" I explained, "she was having stomach aches and was vomiting, but she calmed down now, right now she's in the tub" I told her and she nodded and went to the bathroom.

Then I turned to Daphne "do you have any tampons?" She stuttered for moment then nodded a yes, and quickly went to get them.

Soon after she came back and Mrs Ava was with Iris, Iris came out all dressed with Mrs Ava. "For now, she should rest and shouldn't stress herself and help her study her cycle, anything common that happens when she has it" Mrs Ava explained.

"Understood"

She smiled and waved at Iris saying her goodbyes. "Daphne, go tell the cooks to prepare breakfast, but it should be up to my room" I told her.

She groaned from the bed, where she was sitting with Iris "why can't you just link them?" She frowned but a glare shut her up and she muttered something as she left.

Looking at my tired mate on the bed, she was wearing black sweat pants and a gray top.

"Does it still hurt?" I asked.

She nodded no "Mrs Ava said it would last for days, five or more " she frowned "and showed me how to put the tampon" she wiggles underneath the sheets.

I come over to sit next to her and  placed my hand on hers. "How about we stay in the garden" I tell her to at least brighten up her mood, and it worked.

"Really?" Her blue eyes widen. "Yes. It's better than here" I chuckled, she smiles and comes over to hug me, I returned the hug and stroked her hair.

Before we left I made sure the palace halls were cleared, I didn't want anyone to disturb and make Iris uncomfortable.

When we left the room, Iris was smiling so broadly, excitement was written all over her face, it was like nothing had happened and she was happy.

"This place is bigger than your house" she awed at the rooms as we passed by but i frowned though, "it's also yours too love".

She raised her brown confused and wanted to say something but was cut short when she saw the view from the glass door.

Gasping she let go me and rushed to the door, I followed her making sure she was fine.

Her happiness was everything.

She stared at everything like it was entirely a new world, one she has never seen before. Standing on the pavement she looked around covering her mouth, I came to stand in front of her and saw she was crying.

"What- are you okay? Does it still hurt?" I scanned her head to toe. But she smiled as her tears fell down.

"It's so beautiful" she breathes and I wiped her tears and kissed her eyes. "Come let's try something" I took her hand and led it down the stairs to the garden, it was all grass and a forest at the far edge of the palace.

"Remove your slippers"

She looked at me confused but did so and removed them, then leading her down the last steps I stepped on the grass and told her to do the same.

She held unto me nervously "Lucas?"

"Don't worry just trust me"

She took in a deep breath then ran into my arms catching me off guard landing us on the grass. I chuckled at her "open your eyes love" Peeping through her closed eyes she looked around gasping "I did it? I actually did it!" She laughs and I couldn't help but laugh as well.

She sits up right and starts to feel the grass "I never knew the grass was so soft" she smiles "and so beautiful" sitting next to her I brushed back her hair and she smiled broaden.

"Glad you're happy, that's what matters"

Turning to face me "even if I wasn't here just being with you makes me happy" she blushes then kissed my lips smiling

"Thank you".

"No love I should be thanking you" I pulled her back in and kissed her back, feeling each other with sparks of new emotions.
