Chapter 14- The Tales of Kings and Queens of Old

This is an account of the 15 year reign of High King Peter, High Queen Susan, King Edmund, and Queen Lucy, beginning in Year 1000 and coming to an abrupt end in the Year 1015.

The four siblings came to Narnia, accompanied by the descendant of the Old Seer, by the name of Annabelle. Once discovering their destiny, they journeyed to the Great Lion, Aslan and came together to fight the False Queen Jadis. With the fall of Jadis, also brought about the end of the One Hundred Year Winter. As foretold by the Lady Annabelle, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were crowned as kings and queens of Narnia. The titles are as follows:

High King Peter the Magnificent, High Queen Susan the Gentle, King Edmund the Just, and Queen Lucy the Valiant.

Upon their coronation, Aslan entrusted Narnia to them and departed from the land. Lady Annabelle prophesied that the Great Lion would one day return when Narnia's need was greatest. No such time came to pass under the rule of the kings and queens during what has come to be known as the Golden Age.

In the year 1002, High King Peter established treaty with Archenland and effectively held back an attack on Narnia led by an army of barbarians, having been warned of the attack by Lady Annabelle.  Aiding him in this feat was King Edmund and the General Orieus and his armies. High Queen Susan and Queen Lucy remained in Cair Paravel.

In the following years, the four rulers worked to rid Narnia of the scattered creatures who remained loyal to the fallen White Witch, Jadis. Alliances were found in Dwarves and Minotaurs during this time, both parties joining Narnia's armies. It is also during this time that High Queen Susan and Queen Lucy join their brothers in these conquests, as well as Lady Annabelle. All four of the rulers and the Seer proved themselves to be impressive warriors in their own ways.

During his reign, High King Peter desperately tried to succeed in establishing treaty with the  country of Calormen, just south of Archenland. While no battles were never fought between the two countries, the King of Calormen, Rabadash requested High Queen Susan to be claimed as his wife in exchange for alliance. This request was never fulfilled and King Rabadash attempted invade Narnia to capture the High Queen. Before war could ensue Lady Annabelle shared her visions of both Narnia and Calormen falling to ruins as a result of said war.

The countries of Narnia and Calormen remained at odds with one another following these events and a treaty was never established.

Despite the above battles, Narnia remained a peaceful country as shown through the many parties and celebrations the kings and queens held in Cair Paravel. They celebrated every victory and the anniversaries in the following years. Birthdays and Christmas were also held with high importance. The kings and queens valued happiness, joy, and family above all else, making that known throughout all of Narnia.

None of the kings and queens ever married; however, the High King Peter spent his young adult years meeting and entertaining different female suitors. It is rumored that the reason for his never settling on a wife was that his heart belonged to that of the Lady Annabelle. While Lady Annabelle was treated with as much respect as the kings and queens, her and the high king never made a relationship public. Lady Annabelle never married.

The reign of the Kings and Queens of Old came to an end in 1015 when they all four disappeared while hunting the White Stag. There are no further details about these events nor the days leading up to the disappearance.

And so ends the Tales of the Kings and Queens of Old.
