Parents Weekend and Activity Fairs
Alec's POV
The first two months of school went very quickly. I am set for straight A's for the semester as long as I keep doing what I am doing. It's all going as I planned.
"Can't you worry about homework after Mom and Dad leave?" Izzy asks from across the kitchen counter. She shuts my book but I quickly flip it back open to the page I was on. "No, I need to get this done because Mom and Dad are coming." I emphasize. "You know Mom has the weekend planned already." I add, rolling my eyes to myself. There has been some... drama with our family. They try not to tell us but whenever we FaceTime them, there is a tension through the phone. Max calls every day actually, saying they are fighting almost every night but he can't quit hear it. I am sure we will find out today.
"Don't make me get Magnus in here." She teases with a serious undertone. "They aren't going to be here for another hour. I have time." I say as I write on my flash card. "Fine I am only giving you thirty." She says, patting my shoulder as she walks away towards the staircase to go upstairs. Not even five minutes later I feel like someone is watching me. I wait a second before turning around. "Hi babe." I say to Magnus who is leaning on the kitchen doorframe.
He has online one of his glittery tops with a bright blazer. His hair is dyed at the tips with green and spiked to perfection. "Hello, Alexander." He says as he walks up to me, kissing my lips softly. "You look very handsome in... all that." I remark before he kisses the top of my head. "Why thank you." He says with his natural tone, flaring with drama. "You need to get ready. You look like you just woke up." He says with a small chuckle. "Well it's 10, I have been up for 4 hours already. So I certainly do not look like I just woke up." He say with a smirk. He hopes up on the kitchen counter, right next to my textbook. I look at him before putting my pen down. "Izzy told you to come get me, didn't she." I laugh will I add an eye roll. He kisses my lips again, this time more longingly. "Of course she did, so let's get going my dear Alexander."

"My babies!" My mom shouts as soon as Izzy opens the door. Jace and I walk our way down the hallway. She hugs the three of us tightly. I think it's the tightest she has hugged me since I woke up in the hospital after the break in. "Where's Dad?" Izzy asks when she finally lets go. She looks from one of us to the other before clearing her throat. "Your Father couldn't make it. He has a client that he could not reschedule." Izzy is about to speak but we are interrupted by a very hyper Max. "Hey bud." Jace says, looking down at him. He's so big now that we don't need to kneel down. I rough his hair up before hugging him. "Hey Max." I say before letting go. "So are we ready for some fun?" My mom asks, waving her hands excitedly in the air. "I'll see you later for dinner." I whisper to Magnus before kissing his cheek. He nods, a small smile growing on his face before we leave.
"There are so many things to do, is there anything you guys want to do?" She says as we drive to campus. "I thought you had it all planned out?" Izzy asks as she tries to hide the concern in her voice. Our other mother always has things planned out to the tee. "Well, I thought we can change it up a bit. Maybe go off script?" She says, enthusiastically. Like genuine excitement. "Well I wanted to go to the food truck festival on the Green. That's all I wanted to do." Jace says. "That's not until later though. There was a painting or sculpting class? That could be fun!" Izzy says, matching mom's energy. "Alec, Jace, Max? That sounds good?" Mom asks as she finds a parking spot. I just nod my head while Max and Jace give a verbal okay.
We follow the signs until Izzy points out the bowl making. We walk inside the building and into the line until a table opens up for the five of us. A woman brings each of us a pile of clay and places a bowl of water on the table. She gives us a little guide on what to do and then lets us try ourselves before walking away. Forming the bowl actually was kind of fun. I made a very very basic bowl that I tried to make a smooth as I could. I look over and Jace's who also made a pretty basic bowl, except it's shallow. Max decided he wanted to make a square bowl with some weird shapes pushes onto it. Izzy's and Mom's made very elaborate bowls with markings and designs etched into them. The woman comes back over to take them to the kiln room they have. We will be back tomorrow to paint them.
"Well that was fun." Mom says as we walk out of the art building. "Looks like the food trucks are about to open. Why don't we eat some lunch and then Alec can pick what he wants to do next." She suggests, looking at me. "Yeah sure. I'll look into something." We walk to the Green and wait in a few lines until we each have a couple of plates with options. Jace takes us inside to the Chat and to the second floor. As we pass through the first floor, there are tables lines with students. They are promoting their athletic teams and clubs. When we walk upstairs, we find the last table open and take a seat. Everyone starts to eat. "I'll be right back." I say before making my way back to the first floor. I walk quickly back through the rows of tables and stop at the one that caught my attention. Archery.
"Hi, I am Marcus. Have you used a bow before? Were you on an archery team before?" The guy asks. He his slender, sharp jawline, hair that swoops and dressed kind of like a lumberjack. "I have been competing since middle school. I..." I was thinking of my phrasing before I continue. "I was in an accident so I did have a little time off but I would really like to get back into it. Is this a club or an official collegiate team?" I ask. He starts to hand me pamphlets and papers and notecards with information. There is a collegiate team. Marcus is the captain of the team and the president of the archery club here. "So we will see you next Friday for open tryouts, Alec." I smile to myself before reaching to shake his hand. "Great to meet you Marcus." I say before heading back upstairs.
"Alec!" Deliah and Jerry say, hugging me tightly before sitting back down. When I sit down, Magnus rests his hand on my thigh. I rest my hand over his, brushing my thumb over his knuckles. "Hi guys." I say after I take a bite of food. Deliah and Mom talk it up while Jerry talks about the activities they did earlier. "Alec, did you figure out what you wanted to do next?" Mom asks after we all finish eating. "I heard there is a carnival on the lacrosse field. We can go there." I say, shrugging my shoulders. "Yes please!" Max shouts as he gets on his knees on his chair. "Can we please go?" He asks, looking at Mom. "If that's what Alec wants to do, then of course." Mom says as she roughs his hair up a little. "Deliah, Jerry, Magnus. Would you like to join us?" Mom asks. "Hell yes!" Jerry says, laughing like a dad who just made the best dad joke ever.
We head up to the lacrosse field and they have tents of games and small rides set up. Max takes Mom's hand and they start running to the closest game tent. "I told Simon to come so I am going find him." Izzy says before she starts to strut off. "I also told Clary we were heading here so I am going to look for her and her family." Jace says, waving to us all before walking away. "Well we will give you some alone time. We will need to leave in a few hours anyway for the dinner reservations." Deliah says, hugging Magnus and I again before her and Jerry walk off into the crowd. "Just us." Magnus says as he moves to hold my hand. "Just us." I repeat happily before we start to just walk around the carnival as we talk about what we did today with our families.
