~Chapter 28~
-I Do
(Stephan's POV)
It's weird to think my life was boring before I met Caroline. But its true. Before it was like, do this, do that. Make sure you attend this and say that. Now it's like, plan a wedding, take care of Lily, make sure Caroline's ok, it a lot, I know. But I'm not complaining, and my parents aren't either. They were happy that I was finally getting married. They have even set up a ceremony to pass their crown down to me and Caroline.
Now they spend their days traveling the world visiting places they have never been to before and surprising some old friends along the way with my little brother tagging along. Every now and then we would get a postcard from them telling us the things they've done. Their so old school. And every time in response, I would call them, and every time they would pick up. But not to talk to me, oh of course not.
They always want to talk to Caroline and ask how the baby is and if she doing alright. But now that Lily has arrived, they don't even wait for me to call them, they call me. And most of the time, they just call Caroline straight away instead of me. Best parents in the world. Half of the time I wouldn't know when they call because they never ask to speak to me. I usually find out when Caroline tells me about where they've been.
It doesn't bother me that they always want to talk to her. I'm just happy that they like Caroline and are happy with my choice. Even if the competition was canceled. But they actually like Caroline. Normally with a girl I would have to convince them that she's the right choice and to give her a chance. And even if they agree they would still have that look in their eyes that says "I still don't like you."
I didn't have to do that with Caroline. They just liked her and I think it was because they already had known her for while. Plus Caroline wasn't known for being very, um, out there if you get what I'm saying. So that's good, and she's always a perfect angle and blah blah blah and that mushy stuff. But I love her the way she is. No matter what.
And here we are. Standing hand in hand, at our wedding, with our daughter Lily in my mothers arms, my father smiling a proud smile at me, and my little brother giving me the "You did well" look. I couldn't be happier.
(Caroline's POV)
Everything was beautiful. Everything was the way I had imagined it to be. The only thing I wish was that my parents could see me right now. They would be so proud of me, I know it. My dad would've been complaining about not having a grandson but would end up always wanting to be around Lily. My mom would mostly be happy that I was actually not going to be a loner for the rest of my life.
But I had Stephan's parents. And they were treating me as if I was one of their own. Now I see why our parents got along so well. They would always call to check up on me and Lily and we would spend hours talking on the phone. They were the best, and I couldn't have been more happy to join their wonderful family.
Me and Stephan stood, hand in hand at the podium in front of friends and family. Celeste was standing just behind me and Wyatt was standing behind Stephan. We haven't had much time to make friends. So only Stephan, me, Celeste, and Wyatt stood in front of everyone. I didn't mind. I only needed the important ones to be standing up here with us.
"We gather here today to unite Princess Caroline Angelica Rosalina Mayers III and Prince Stephan Joshua Edward Knight in holy matrimony. Before we begin, does anyone object to this marriage?" The preacher asked and waited a moment. "Now, Princess Caroline Angelica Rosalina Mayers III, do you take Prince Stephan Joshua Edward Knight to be your lawfully wedded husband to love, hold, and cherish till death do you part?" He asked looking at me.
"I do." I said and saw Stephan's smile grow even bigger, if that was even remotely possible.
"Prince Stephan Joshua Edward Knight, do you take Princess Caroline Angelica Rosalina Mayers III to be your lawfully wedded wife to love, hold, and cherish till death do you part?" The preacher asked looking at Stephan.
"I do." He said smiling a big bright smile at me.
"May we have the rings." The preacher said and Stephan's mom walked down the isle with Lily in her arms, who was holding a velvet pillow with the rings on it. Once they reach reached the podium the preacher gestured for us to put the rings on.
"Ladies first." Stephan said, telling me I can go first.
I reached for his ring on the pillow and put it on his left ring finger. Then he reached for my ring and put it on my left ring finger. Once we were done we looked back to the preacher and he said his final words. "You may kiss the bride." And without a second thought, we stepped forward closing the space and sealed the marriage. Everyone cheering very loudly.
"It's official." Stephan said, resting his forehead on mine.
"I'm the happiest person alive." I said, smiling.
"No, I'm the happiest person alive. Your my wife and I have a beautiful daughter." He challenged.
"You wouldn't have her thanks to me." I say, playing along with his little game.
"Fine, we're the happiest people alive." He said happily. "I love you." Stephan whispered as everyone continued to cheer loudly.
"I love you too." I whispered back with a big smile.
"I love you more." He said smiling.
"Family photo!" Stephan's mom said coming out of nowhere. She handed me Lily, and me and Stephan turned to the camera and smiled.
"Now I have my queen and my little princess. I love you both so much." Stephan said hugging both of us, to which Lily just bounced up and down in my arms giggling.
"We love you too."
