~Chapter 27~

-Wyatt

(Caroline's POV)

I was trusting Stephan. And I meant it, I was going to trust him. I spoke to Celeste about everything and she had told me I was only acting this way because of my parents. She said I had a nightmare that I lost Lily because I lost my parents. And even though the blowup with Stephan wasn't a nightmare I was just acting on the instinct of losing him too.

On the plus side I finally got to talk to Celeste again. I haven't spoken to her in so long. She still works at the castle but without me around I've just been letting her do her own thing. Which I think she deserves because of how hard she has worked over the years. From what Celeste told me, she has met someone. The shrieks that came out of me when I heard she had a love life was unreal. I was so happy for her. Especially for the fact that she was leaving the castle.

But moving on from that, I asked Celeste to be my Maid of Honor, only then did I see how literal it was, for my wedding. She said yes and I told her we were going dress shopping later today. Stephan had an old friend that he wanted to be his best man and they were going suit shopping. I said I will take Lily because I apparently Stephan has 'Street Credit' to withhold and can't lose his so called "manliness." Like he ever had any. But I don't mind having Lily around. She's very entertaining. Plus I needed to find a dress for her anyways.

I was currently attempting to get Lily ready for her day out but she was not cooperating at all. She kept fidgeting and would not sit still. That is until I realized she dropped her stuffed unicorn on the floor. Once I picked it up and put it next to her she was perfectly fine the rest of the time I got her ready.

After waiting a little bit the doorbell rang and we were off. The drive wasn't very long and the whole time Celeste was just playing around with Lily. When we arrived I thanked Sebastian like always, and we went off shopping.

-----

Everything was in order. We had done a lot of shopping, I admit. Celeste and I's dresses were being dropped off at the castle tomorrow, I had gotten Lily's outfit, and the rest of the things I needed for mine and Celeste's. We were now getting tired and quite hungry and we decided to go to an Italian restaurant that was in the mall.

Once we were seated at our booth, my feet were thanking me. I set Lily down next to me and she went straight to playing with my necklace again. So I didn't end up being choked to death, I just took it off and gave it to her to play with.

"So, are you excited?" Celeste asked, smiling ear to ear as she looked over the menu.

"For what?" I asked a little confused.

"You can't be serious." She said giving me a deadpanned look.

"Ohhhh, that's what you meant." I said in realization. "Of course I am. Who wouldn't be?" I said picking Lily up and putting her on my lap.

"I sometimes worry about you." She says chuckling.

"Why?" I ask, looking up from Lily.

"Your just... you. Don't you ever get overwhelmed?" She asked.

"Not really. There isn't much to get overwhelmed about." I answered honestly.

"But what abo- never mind." She started but stopped herself.

"No, tell me." I said.

"Forget it. It's a bit of a touché subject." She said waving it off.

"No, I want to know, Celeste." I said.

"Well, what about your parents? That's seemed to just lead to a whole bunch of things." She said gesturing to Lily.

"I know." I said looking down at Lily who was still playing with my necklace.

"Do you miss them?" She asked sincerely.

"Everyday." I said trying to hold back my tears. "But... you know... I guess without that I won't be here. And I know that sounds kinda weird, but it's true." I said honestly.

"Do you think if they didn't die you would have Lily?" She asked.

"Honestly, no. I love her to pieces, but I would probably still be stuck being The Queen of Cridia if that didn't happen." I say.

"So, a life for a death kind of a thing?" She asked.

"Ya. Something must be looking out for me because I would've had no family. But look, I have Lily and Stephan." I say, smiling.

"I can tell you love her." Celeste says looking at Lily.

"I really do. I mean, she can be a little monster at times but she's still adorable." I say and give Lily a little kiss on the head.

"And Stephan?" Celeste asks.

"Wellllll..." I start. "Not gonna lie, he's a pain in the but sometimes." I said.

"I can tell. Didn't he not tell you about Lily?" She asked and my head snapped up.

"How did you know that?" I asked.

"I, um, well-" She stumbled over her words.

"There my two wonderful girls are!" Someone announced behind us. I turned around to see Stephan and his friend, who I have yet to met, walking towards us. "Hello beautiful, and hello my tiny princess." He said, sliding in on my side of the booth and kissing both mine and Lily's foreheads. To which Lily responded with giggles.

"Hey." I said smiling at Stephan.

"Is that your necklace she's chewing on?" He asked, pointing to Lily.

"Yep, she loves that thing so much." I said, pulling it out of her mouth.

"Well, I got her this." He said, pulling a little toy teddy bear out of one of the many shopping bags he had. Lily immediately dropped my necklace and crawled off of my lap and onto Stephan's to get the bear.

"I guess she likes it." I said smiling as she playing with the small teddy.

"I figured she would. Its adorable, I mean look at it." He said pointing to the bear that was in Lily's arms.

"Until she finds something she likes better." I said shaking my head.

"True." He said and turned to Celeste and his friend who were having their own conversation. "Caroline, Celeste, this my Best Man and old friend Wyatt." He said introducing him.

"Celeste already knows who I am." Wyatt said speaking up.

"How?" Stephan asked.

"Remember when I told you I met someone, Caroline?" Celeste asked, look at me.

"Ya.." I said, not knowing were she was going with this.

"That's him." She said pointing to Wyatt.

"What!" Me and Stephan both said at the same time.

"For how long?" I asked.

"Five months." Wyatt answers.

"And you didn't think to tell your best friend?" Stephan questioned.

"Ya Celeste, your best friend." I said staring at her.

"We didn't want to tell anyone. You know how the press is." Wyatt said.

"Do you also know how the press is if they find you sneaking around with my wife's best friend?" Stephan pressed.

"That is true." Celeste said in agreement.

"When did you guys think to tell us this?" I asked.

"Never.." Wyatt said unsurely.

"Aren't they the best, best friends in the world." Stephan said sarcastically.

"I know right." I said in agreement.

-----

We were now home and I was ready to go to sleep at this point. I put Lily down to go to sleep and I headed back to mine and Stephan's room. When I entered he was on the phone with someone and was staring out of the window. I guess he had another meeting because he was once again in a fancy suit. I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist, burying my face in his back.

"Yes, I understand." He said to the person on the other line in a formal voice. "You want her there?..... Yes of course..... I will make sure she's there..... What time?..... We will be there." He said and hung up, turning around in my arms.

"Hello darling." He said sweetly.

"Who was on the phone?" I asked.

"A Royal Adviser." He said.

"Oh goodness. What do they want now?" I asked in an annoyed tone.

"They want us to attend a Dinner Party." He said looking down at me.

"When is it?" I asked.

"A week from now." He said.

"Okay." Is all I said.

"You should get some rest you look tired." He said, noticing my sleepiness. I mumbled an little good night and headed to bed.

I love sleep...
