~Chapter 23~

-Let's Talk

(Caroline's POV)

I didn't know what to do with myself. I had a tiny human being inside of me, a man who wants to marry me, a possible war against my kingdom, and my parents gone. This is all to much. I had been crying alone in my room for the past ten minutes when all of a sudden there's a knock on my door.

I told them to go away but they kept knocking anyways. When I got fed up, I got up and opened the door to see Stephan standing there. Not wanting to speak to him I went to close the door but he stopped me. To exhausted to fight back I just walked back over to my bed and sat down, resting my head against the headboard. Stephan walking in, closing the door and took a seat at the end of my bed.

"Let's talk. I just want to talk. Even if you don't want to speak to me. Trust me, I wouldn't even want to speak to me right now. I just... I just want to make sure your ok." He said barely above a whisper. He was nervous, I could tell. He wasn't looking at me and was playing with his hands. I also saw a single tear fall on his suit pants, soaking into the fabric. "Listen, you don't have to talk to me. I just want to tell you everything. Starting with the meeting. I told Gabriel that we are power kingdoms and that if he took us to war he would be fight against my kingdom as well and would lose his own kingdom in the process. He said he wouldn't declare war on you, us." He explained and I looked up at him when he said 'us'.

"Thank you." Is all I said, my voice coming out horse because of my crying.

"Caroline, please. I know I messed up but please let me at least prove to you that I can take care of you and this child. Please, I have already done the first step in saving you by saving your kingdom. I can't not see you in my life." He says starting to sob a little.

"I just want you to tell me everything." I say.

"I will, I promise. Anything you want to know." He says quickly.

"Why are you fighting this battle so much?" I ask.

"What battle?" He asks a little confused.

"The battle I'm suppose to fight. My battle against everything." I say.

"Because you have lost so much. I just want to be there for you and help you through it all. I think we have come so far from the night we were both out to kill someone." He said.

"You remember that?" I question.

"Of course I do. It was the night I found my shining star. I just didn't know it was her until she was dancing in a Ballroom with my brother and I had to save her from breaking a toe he was so bad." He said smiling. "I wish I had done things differently, Caroline." He admitted.

"Done what differently?" I ask.

"This whole past month. We could've been married and expecting a child but instead I decided to be stupid and say nothing during the most important time in your life. I can't say sorry enough." He said and started to tear up again. I moved over to him and gave him a hug.

"Stephan, you shouldn't cry. Yes I wouldn't have agreed with what you did but I can't hate you for it. You had a valid reason for keeping it from me. All I wish is that you didn't keep it from me for so long. But even though you did that I never said no to your proposal." I said and he pulled away from the hug slightly so he could look at me.

"Are you saying..." He started but I cut him off.

"Yes I will marry you." I said with a big happy smile and he kissed me happily.

"Thank you so much." He said hugging me tightly.

"All I have to say is that I'm not giving up my night job of hunting who ever did this to my parents and kingdom because I have a child." I said seriously.

"You think I was giving up mine either? Of course not. But I'll take over the hunt because I don't want you getting hurt. Your carrying our bundle of joy." He said smiling.

"I can handle it for the next month or so Stephan. I'm not fat yet." I said.

"I don't care. I'm not taking any chances." He said protectively.

"Fine." I said giving in.

"Thank you Caroline." He said.

"Your welcome, I guess, even though I have no idea what your thanking me for." I said.

"For everything. I'm thanking you for everything you have given me." He said happily.

"In that case your super welcome." I said chuckling.

-Four Months Later-

I'm officially fat as I like to say. Its so tiring and hard having a huge stomach. Stephan and I have been married for four months now and I'm five months in and we are so excited. We found out it was going to be a girl and Stephan had designers come and design the room for the baby along with a play room.

Things had been quite calm after the meeting with Gabriel. Everyone now knows about the new joint kingdoms and I can tell some kingdoms have even been shaking in their crowns a little since two strong kingdoms have joined forces. I liked this feeling of putting fear in people and having so much power. Now I know why my parents weren't sacred of anything. There's nothing to fear when your at the top. When you are fear.

It was getting late and Stephan was pulling an all nighter because of some very important documents he needed to get done. So I was left on my own for tonight. I was currently getting ready for bed. I walked into the walk in closet and nearly scram when I saw in red lipstick what was written on our huge mirror.

It read 'YOUR PARENTS WEREN'T AS INNOCENT AS THEY MADE THEMSELVES SEEM.' Below the mirror was a an envelope. I picked it up and opened it up to see a letter inside. The letter said 'Dear Caroline, its been awhile since we last spoke. I think it's time you find out why your parents were killed. Also about some family secrets that I wasn't going to let die with them.

But first, I need you to go to the person who knows the most, Bruce.
