~Chapter 11~
-Killing And Arguments
(Gabriel's POV- That Morning)
I woke up to screaming. This is new. I let out an annoyed grunt and turned in my bed.
"Prince, king, what ever your title is, I'm going to have to ask you to leave... now." A female gritted through her teeth.
With that, I knew I was not in my room. Flashes of the night before flew by my eyes. That's when I knew I was in Caroline's room. So I got out so quickly, I didn't even say goodbye. When I reached the outside of her door, Stephan was walking by.
"Why are you in Caroline's room this early?" He asked. "Surely she's just waking up by now." He added.
"None of your business." I said coldly.
"And someone looks like they just woke up too." He continued to press. Does he ever shut up?
"Like I said, it's none of your business." I said and started to walk away, but with my luck he followed me.
"You sleep with her, didn't you?" He said coldly.
"What's it to you if I did or didn't?" I fired back. I was not going to give this boy an answer. It honestly has nothing to do with him and I know full and well we were just talking.
"Caroline is off limits." He said defensively, trying to look bigger and stronger than me.
"Says who?" I say glaring coldly.
"Me." He said and continued to square up.
"Listen pipsqueak, I'm taller than you, and definitely stronger than you, so you wouldn't want to fight me unless you wanted a bloodily nose in one punch." I threatened.
"You wouldn't do that. Your all soft inside. How do you expect to protect Caroline if your soft inside?" He taunted.
"I'm only soft and sweet when it comes to Caroline, everyone else could go to hell for all I care." I retort.
"Sure. Ok then, go on, hit me. I dare you." He said cockily opening his arms.
"You would just be a waste of my time. I have enough dignity to know not to hit someone if they didn't hit me first. Its like war." I say calmly.
"This isn't war my friend." He said mockingly.
"You really are the scum of the earth." I say coldly and turn around to walk away.
Soon enough I hear the paddling of feet across the stone floor coming towards me at a fast rate. I anticipate how close he is before I turn around and grab his neck, squeezing it so he starts to lose air. I look deep into his eyes, sending glares that could kill into them. Fear strikes over his eyes.
"Don't underestimate me, prince. Unlike you, I'm taking a kings position today and Caroline will be standing right next to me when I do, ready to accept her spot as queen of my kingdom. We might not be married but I have known her for years and she doesn't deserve someone like you. She sees me as something like the brother she's never had. And you know what brothers do? They scare away all of the terrible boys who call themselves men and let the good ones stay. You my friend, are not apart of the ones I let stay." I say coldly, and let go of his neck. He gasps for air and I just walk away leaving him to think.
-----
I got ready and headed down to the Dinning Hall for breakfast. I sat down and spoke with Caroline's parents for a little before Stephan and his family came down. Stephan sat across from me. We stayed silent, eating our breakfast just glaring at each other. Shortly after, Caroline came down stairs and entered the room. A slight smile tugging at my lips for the first time this morning.
Me and Stephan continue to glare at each other. I tried to be low about it so Caroline wouldn't see. She would start to worry about what's going on. I don't want my little princess to worry about a thing. Did I just say that? Didn't mean it! Shut up brain, your making things worse. I didn't notice I had been glaring at Stephan until Caroline had said something.
"What's wrong with you two? Your acting like archenemies." She whispered so only we could hear. I could hear the worry in her pretty little voice.
"Ask him." I said coldly not meaning to be so rude to her. My glare stayed glued to Stephan.
"What did you do?" She asked Stephan ever so kindly.
"I did nothing." He said continuing to glare at me. It took everything in me not to yell lier right then and there and tell her everything.
"Gabe, calm down." She said putting her soft hand gently on my shoulder.
"Sorry C." I said using my nickname for her and grabbed her hand from my shoulder, smiling at her. I did however shoot a quick glare to Stephan before I turned back to C.
"It's ok." She said smiling back at me.
Just then her fathers voice announced that it was time to go breaking our gaze at each other.
-----
We had finished Prince Michael's proposal and Caroline's inauguration. We were now in the limo after the press meeting heading to the plane to fly back to Caroline's kingdom. I was completely shell shocked when she had asked me a question I didn't know how to answer.
"Would you ever marry me?" She asked but quickly slapped her hands over her mouth realizing what she had just said. "I'm so sorry I did not mean to say that. You don't have to answer. Thinking out loud, I guess." She said quickly.
"It's ok, I understand. After that press meeting I would be thinking the same thing." I said holding her hand and giving it a comforting squeeze.
"But just asking, would you?" She asked carefully like she was touching a sensitive subject for her.
"Well," I started letting out a breath. "I would... marry you. But we're not in that type of relationship at this point in time. But... if we ever are... I will have you know, I would marry you." I answered cautiously.
"Okay." Was all she said and I automatically felt like I hurt her feelings.
"I didn't hurt your feeling or anything, right?" I ask, a frown etched on my face.
"No, quite opposite actually." She said and I gave her a confused look. "You could have said worse to be honest. I could accept that answer open heartedly because it leaves space for changes but also answers for right now." She explains.
"So your not mad?" I ask to be sure.
"I'm not mad. I'm kind of relieved now that I don't have that question in my head anymore." She said letting out a breath of air.
"We're here." The driver said and we looked out the window to see we were at the airport. We were meeting Caroline's parents at the airport since we had a press meeting to attend.
(Caroline's POV)
I made it back home and I fell onto my bed ready to sleep. That's when Celeste walked in to say I had more things to do. I let out a tired sigh and get up to take a shower.
-----
I had to attend the pre-ceremony meeting for the competition. So I dressed in a black dress that was very simple with some black heels and my hair in a messy bun with my crown. I would dress up for the Opening Ceremony which was a few hours after.
I had attended the meeting and kinda blocked out everything they were saying. I already knew everything they were talking about and I didn't need to hear it for a second time. The meeting flew by quickly and soon enough I was back in my room getting ready.
I had found out that I need someone to walk out with for the showing of the contestants and for the Ballroom Dance after that. I immediately asked Gabriel if he would do it. I asked him because first, I know he would say yes because he's nice like that, and two because he is good at Ballroom Dancing and unlike him I failed that class in Princess Etiquette School.
Celeste had set out my whole outfit for the ceremony and it was now my job to get ready. This might take awhile...
-----
I was ready. My mother said that I should wear our kingdoms colors tonight, royal blue and gold. So, she had Celeste pick out the biggest and most beautiful dress in my closet. To be honest, I didn't even know I had this dress. It had been set away for a special occasion and I guess this counts as a special occasion. I also wore heels that matched the dress and had flower hair pieces with the same colors. I also wore my crown that I only wear when I would wear the kingdom colors. I'm representing tonight! Everyone around the world was watching tonight.
Just as the last details to my outfit were being fixed there was a knock at my door. Their stood Gabriel in a suit with the same colors. I smiled and watched as his jaw dropped at my outfit.
"Well, there might be a problem getting through your door." He joked.
"When my ancestors designed this castle they thought ahead of time for things like my dresses." I said and Gabriel gave me a questionable look. "You see, there is a reason why I have double doors for my bedroom." I said opening the other door and walking out perfectly fine.
"I did not see that." He said chuckling.
"This is why you have to pay attention." I said snapping my fingers in front of him.
"Well, let's head down now, shall we?" He said offering his hand which I gladly took.
We walked downstairs and waited for my name to be called to walk out. We were the last ones to be called and once my name was called I walked out with a huge smile on my face, holding Gabriel's arm. Everyone went silent when I walked out and just stared at us. I wanted to run out because I thought they didn't like me already.
But it ended up in a huge roar of cheering and screams, a bigger applause than any of the other contestants had gotten. I smiled and had a look of astonishment written on my face. Once everyone calm down we were are introduced properly to the people in the audience and those watching at home. We did a few other things like questions and things of that sort.
The last part had now arrived and I was nervous. Mostly because I am very bad at Ballroom Dancing, but I have a partner that is good at it so if I just follow his lead I should be fine. We were all lead to the dance floor and once the music started everyone danced in perfect sync.
As I was twirled, the skirts of my dress flared out making me look like a flower almost. The cape part of my dress trailed behind me the whole time. Gabriel smiled at me for how well I was doing.
"Your doing great." He whispered in my ear.
"Ya, until one of us trips over the skirts of my huge dress." I joked.
Gabriel chuckles and says, "I've danced with girls who have dresses bigger than this. I'm experienced." He gloats. I just roll my eyes and focus on dancing.
Just then, the music all of a sudden cuts out and so did the lights. I held onto Gabe hoping I won't lose him. He held me around the waist protectively and I could tell he was looking everywhere in the room just like me even though we couldn't see anything.
Just then a gun shot rang out...
