Okay so this is the hetalia character I made for Māori. He is a work in progress, but I thought I'd put up his bio and see what people thought of him. If something seems amiss or incorrect please feel free to notify me and I'll try my best to correct it.

Name: Moana [meaning: "wide expanse of water"]
Gender: male
Age: undetermined. (Older than most other nations yet younger than those like China, Scotland, or Denmark)
Sexuality: straight
Appearance: naturally tanned skin tone, short black hair, a bit on the taller side, dark brown eyes, and athletic build. He has swirling intricate (traditional) tattoos on his face, arms, legs, and lower torso.
Apparel: dark beige T-shirt, dark brown vest (sporting multiple pockets), jeans, and dark brown slip-on shoes.
Personality: friendly, eccentric, adventurous, inquisitive, ambivert, normally calm, polite, patient
Skills: carving, drawing, story-telling
Allies: New Zealand, Australia, Canada, America, United Kingdom, China, Greece, among a few others.

History: (the best way I could do this was with a bullet list...)
•historical records say the Māpri people arrived in New Zealand as early as 1300 A.D
•1769 James Cook sailed and claimed the land in the name of Britain
•1700's - the first Europeans settle in New Zealand
•1835- Declaration of Independence is signed by around 34 Chiefs
•February 6, 1840- Treaty of Waitangi is signed. It gives possession of land to the Māori while recognizing British sovereignty
•1840-60's series of wars for land and other things, the Māori lost and much land was confiscated or sold to the British
•20th Century revives the Māori culture
•1970-80's groups of Māori fight for right for land and helped promote the Māori culture and language
•today there are still Māori living modernly alongside their old culture, language, and heritage.
Other: He is capable of using some kinds of magic, though doesn't often (it's quite draining on him to do so). He was and is what's known as a Tohunga ahurewa (one who is taught about genealogy, astrology, oral history, natural lore, chants, prayers). While normally a calm man he gives meaning to the old saying "beware the fury of a patient man"...
He likes to sit outside for long periods of time ("enjoying the peace of nature" he calls it).
