Chapter 4- Strange Activity

"You are such a weird guy, you're freaking out because these vegetables were half the price?" Remilia asked. They were all gathered in Saitama's apartment after that whole ordeal.

"I actually understand what it means to be poor." Reimu said with a gloomy aura. Even after all the yokai work she took care of, no one ever gave her shrine a single donation. Speaking of her shrine, she's going to need to get used to not having it around.

"Haaaah," Reimu sighed, "I wonder how my shrine is doing." She said.

"That being said...where are we supposed to stay?" Youmu asked.

"Good question, this apartment is much too crowded with all of us in it." Alice said. Saitama thought of their predicament but had no solution. As if something was listening to their conversation, a big BANG was heard in the distance.

"What was that da ze?!" Marisa exclaimed. All of them follows the source of the noise, and down two blocks was an old building, more specifically a shrine.

"It's...my shrine." Reimu said and blinked in shock.

"So this is your shrine?" Saitama asked staring at it.

"How did your shrine end up here?" Youmu asked.
Reimu stared at her shrine and her mind wandered back to her confrontation with Yukari.

"The barrier to Gensokyo, is weakening."

That line repeated in her head like a stuck record. It only spurred on her anxieties.
'If my shrine ended up here, what else will? How long until the barrier collapses?' She thought. Endless scenarios ended up in one result, destruction.

"Uh, earth to Reimu. Anyone home?" Marisa asked and waved her hand in front of Reimu's pensive state. She blinked and saw everyone staring at her.

"Huh?" She mumbled.

"You were spacing out, that's unlike you Reimu." Remilia said.

Reimu thought for a moment, 'It would be best that everyone knows about this, it's becoming out of hand.'
"Everyone, we should talk in the shrine. Except you." She said and pointed to Saitama.

"Eh?" He looked confused.

"This concerns Gensokyo at the moment." She stated.

"Ah, ok. I'll just go and sleep then." He said and stalked his way to his apartment.

All the girls gathered in Reimu's shrine concerned of what Reimu stated.

"Reimu, what's wrong with Gensokyo?" Sanae asked.

"I met with Yukari the night of the party." Reimu started.

"You mean Yukari Yakumo, in charge of the barriers of Genoskyo?" Alice asked.

"Yes, she confronted me and told me that the barrier separating the outside world and Gensokyo is weakening." Reimu said. All the girls produced audible gasps, even Patchouli and Remilia had worried looks on their faces.

"What do you mean da ze?" Marisa asked.

"Exactly what I said, the barrier is weakening and at this rate is sure to collapse." Reimu said.

"But....if the barrier collapses..." Youmu started.

"Then the outside world and the world of Gensokyo is sure to clash. The clash between a world dominated by humans and a world dominated by yokai will be sure to result in chaos." Patchouli finished.

The girls began to go into a pensive state as nothing but worry overcame them. Youmu and Reimu were especially worried; Youmu worried about her master Yuyuko while Remilia worried about Sakuya.

"So, we really need to find a way back to Gensokyo to fix this problem. If there even is a solution." Marisa said scratching her chin.

"It would be difficult though, none of us have magic like Yukari's." Reimu said.

"It's possible to replicate it, but it would take a while to recreate a barrier spell." Parchouli stated scanning one of her books.

"It would be difficult though, none of us have magic like Yukari's." Reimu said. She sighed in frustration, not only was she frustrated by the fact that she can't create a barrier spell like Yukari's but also by the fact that if they don't do something the world of Gensokyo and this world filled with innocent people will fall. Her duty as a shrine maiden would not allow it, she wasn't about to give up that easily.

"Maybe we can make a makeshift barrier for the time being. I have barrier magic and it's called the Great Hakurei Barrier for a reason. The only problem is that it's extraneous on me without Yukari. If we work around it maybe it's possible. Patchouli can you help?" Reims asked her.

Patchouli shut her eyes for a moment mulling over the possibilities. "I don't know how much help I can be but I'll try." She finally said.

"Great way to go Patchy! Da ze!" Marisa exclaimed in praise.

Patchouli's cheeks turned pink in embarrassment, "Don't call me Patchy." She mumbled and then hid her face behind her book.

Sanae clapped her hands, "Well how about we all get some rest and start tomorrow?" She suggested. Everyone nodded, and then decided to turn in for the night.

-In City A-

Down in a tall building stood the headquarters of the Heroes Association. Men and women in business suits furiously typed away on keyboards.

"Shinichi-san, you should look at this." One official called.

Another man with slicked hair, as well as quite a big nose looked at the screen occupied by the official. His eyebrows widened as he saw that the computer found some suspicious activity in the abandoned part of City Z.

"City Z?" He mumbled. He knew that part was notorious for the amount of monster activity there.

"Yes, the weird thing is there are no monster activity at the moment, but this activity just popped up about 10 minutes ago." The official said.

"Are you really that weirded out by the activity in City Z?" A female voice asked. A women, who could be mistaken for a little girl, with green hair in a black dress levitated up to the screen.

"You should expect that much considering the amount the monster activity." She said harshly. The official flinched starting to sweat a bit.

"B-But Tatsumaki-sama it's not even a monster." Another official spoke. She gave a glare making the official quiver, but then curiosity came over her.
'If it's not a monster then what?'
"All of you keep track of this activity! Since you don't know what it is you should take the time to find out!" She barked out the order.

"Y-Yes ma'am!" Everyone then went to try and figure out what this mysterious activity was.
--------------------------------------

Yukari panted as she tried to fix another rip in the border. Normally she wouldn't be struggling so much, but with this much damage to the border she would require the assistance of Reimu.

'Reimu where did you go?' She thought activating her Quadruple Barrier. Ran and Chen looked in worry at their master overextending herself.

"Yukari-sama maybe it would be best to take a break." Ran suggested.

"The more time we waste the more time the barrier will weaken." She argued as her Quadruple barrier did it's work.

"Yukari!" Yuyuko mentally called to her in a panicked state.
"What's wrong Yuyuko?" Yukari gave her own telepathic reply.

"It's the Netherworld there's something wrong. The Netherworld is starting to come in contact with the world of the living. And I could tell the ghosts are starting to become restless." She said sounding a little terrified.

"Ok. Calm down Yuyuko, I'll pay a visit to the Netherworld." Yukari said before cutting the mental conversation.

"It's really getting worse." She mumbled.

'I need a way to get in contact with the outside world. Maybe I'll pay the outside world a visit.' She thought.
