You bring a special surprise home to Lilith.

You were on a speedy approach to Sanctuary in an outrunner, with Axton at the wheel and you sitting passenger with a small, moving thing hidden under a soft blanket that was sitting on your lap.

The unknown creature began to move erratically on your lap.

You: Easy little buddy, we'll be home soon.

Axton was calmly driving, one arm out the side of the outrunner, enjoying the rare peace and quiet.

Axton: I can't believe you paid five hundred credits in veterinary shipment to get that little guy here, he must mean a lot, huh?

You: Well, not to me, but I think he's just what Lilith needs to relax from all the vault business she's been up to.

Axton: I see your point, but a little fluff ball like that is supposed to ease Lilith of all her stress? I dunno.

You: Never underestimate the power of good boys bro, they have this magic ability to just chill people out. It's why we keep them as pets back on earth.

Axton: You meant those things are pets? All that fluff can be domesticated?

You: Well, yeah,m. He's just a baby right now, but we can teach him rules and stuff like that.

Axton: Huh, neat.

You: Yeah, they are.

Axton drove into Sanctuary and parked the outrunner in Scooter's garage.

Axton: Good luck with the little guy. We still up for pool with Salvador tonight?

You: Wouldn't miss it.

You waved farewell at Axton, and walked to your apartment that you shared with Lilith.

Thankfully, for the sake of surprise, Lilith was in the kitchen reading a pile of papers, more than likely field reports.

You: Lilith? Babe? I'm home from...Marcus' place.

Lilith was too deep in her reading to notice your very clear lie.

Lilith: Hey babe...

Lilith trailed off.

You quickly pulled the blanket from your new fluff ball, and without a moment's hesitation, showed him to Lilith.

Lilith screamed in fear.

Lilith: What the hell is that!?

You were confused as you held the puppy in your arms.

You: it's a puppy?

Lilith: A what!? Why is it covered in fur!? Why is it smiling!? And why is it's tail moving so fast!?

You: He's naturally fluffy, and for the other two questions, he's happy to see you.

Lilith: Why would it be happy to se me? I don't even know what it is!

You: He probably caught your scent off of me, they have good scents of smell.

Lilith: What is they?

You: Dogs, this is a Golden Retriever puppy, so he's just little.

Lilith leaned close to investigate the puppy, where he licked her nose, causing her to lean back.

Lilith: It our it's tongue on me!

You: He likes you!

Lilith: How do you know that?

You: My aunt used to breed dogs on earth, I know a good bit about them.

You put the puppy down to walk, where he went about the apartment and sniffed everything to get his bearings.

Lilith jumped onto the table where she was reading the papers, watching the puppy intently, believing the adorable fur ball was a threat.

Lilith: It's putting it's nose on everything!

You: So that he can get familiar with the apartment.

Lilith: Why does it need to get familiar with the apartment? Are you keeping it!?

You: Well...yeah...

Lilith: Why would you bring an unknown creature into the apartment?

You: To chill you out...

Lilith looked at you, surprised.

Lilith: Babe, what do you mean?

You: Sweetie, I hate seeing you stress out so much, so I thought having a let would help. They are great stress relievers.

The puppy sat on the arm of the nearby couch, watching you two talk.

Lilith: So...it supposed to help me relax?

You: Basically, but it won't work if you don't relax.

Lilith thought for a moment.

Lilith: Fine, it can stay...for now.

You kissed Lilith's cheek.

You: You'll learn to love him.

Lilith looked over the table she sat on, and saw the puppy looking up at her happily, where she jumped in your arms to avoid contact with him.

Lilith: I'll start loving him tomorrow...

The puppy held his paws on your leg, curious as to why Lilith jumped in your arms.

You: It's going to be a ride, buddy.

Timeskip, a few days
You were using the bathroom when you heard Lilith call out to you from the living room.

Lilith: Babe!? Can you come in here please...now!

You finished your task in the bathroom and entered the living room, where you saw the puppy laying on Lilith's lap peacefully and her looking at him, panicked.

You: Awwww!

Lilith: What do you mean 'awww'? I was sitting her, watching tv and minding my own business, and it just jumps on my lap and sits there!

You: That means he trusts you! I gotta get a picture!

You ran to get your Echo device, and aimed the camera at Lilith and the puppy, which was wagging his tail happily at the prospect of his picture being taken.

Lilith: You're seriously going to photograph this!?

You: Yes! It's adorable! Now smile!

Lilith gave a forced smile as the puppy sat on her lap happily, where you took a photo and immediately uploaded it to Echobook.

You: That's a keeper.

Lilith: sure, whatever, how do I get it off me?

You: He likes you babe, just let him sit there.

Lilith: What if it bites me?

You: He's a good boy, he wouldn't do that.

Lilith: And you know this how?

You: All dogs are good boys.

As you said that, the puppy climbed up on Lilith and licked her face, to which she growled.

You: See, he does like you!

Lilith looked at you with doubt, to which you shrugged and returned to finish your task in the bathroom.

Timeskip, that night
You returned from your weekly pool game with Axton and Salvador, with much less money than you left with, and saw the most adorable sight.

You saw Lilith asleep, with the puppy in her arms with his head nuzzled underneath her chin.

You awed at the overwhelmingly adorable sight, and took the blanket from over the couch to cover Lilith and her furry companion.

You sat on the opposite end of the couch and nodded off to sleep as Lilith cuddled with your new pet.

You heard Lilith tiredly call for you right before you drifted to sleep.

Lilith: Babe?

You: Yeah, it's me.

Lilith: Come over here with me and Flufftrap.

You: You gave him a name?

Lilith: Just shut up and come cuddle.

You did as Lilith asked and cuddled up behind her, where you, her, and Flufftrap all drifted to sleep.

As you slept, Flufftrap dreamt a dog dream.

Flufftrap: These humans weird, but I like these humans.
